University chancellor fired after porn videos with wife surfaced says school violated his free speech

Former University of Wisconsin-La Crosse Chancellor Dr. Joe Gow spoke out on CNN this week after being fired from his position at the school following the discovery of pornographic videos he and his wife made and published to major porn websites.

Gow told CNN anchors Brianna Keilar and Boris Sanchez that the school’s decision to fire him was a violation of his First Amendment rights, and that he was given "no due process" in the decision.

He further insisted he violated no university policy by publishing the videos of him and his wife, and argued he had followed the school’s charge to him to "set a good example" and his videos set a good example for "free speech."

WISCONSIN UNIVERSITY CHANCELLOR FIRED FOR PRODUCING, APPEARING IN 'SEXY HAPPY COUPLE' PORN VIDEOS

The Universities of Wisconsin Board of Regents unanimously voted to fire Gow Wednesday, with the body’s president Jay Rothman citing his "abhorrent" actions that "subjected the university to significant reputational harm."

"This Board is charged with the stewardship of our great Universities of Wisconsin. Unfortunately, Dr. Joe Gow has shown a reckless disregard for the role he was entrusted with at UW-La Crosse to serve students, faculty and staff, and the campus community," UW System Regent President Karen Walsh added in a separate statement. "The outrage over his behavior is evidenced by the unanimous vote by the UW Board of Regents to terminate him as chancellor. We are alarmed, and disgusted, by his actions, which were wholly and undeniably inconsistent with his role as chancellor."

Local outlet The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported that Gow and his wife Carmen Wilson "appeared in OnlyFans videos and featured porn stars on their YouTube cooking channel" under the name @SexyHappyCouple. Additionally, pornographic videos of the couple appeared on porn sites PornHub and XHamster.

During his segment on "CNN News Central" on Friday, Gow didn’t deny any of the allegations reported, noting that he and his wife have also published several sex-positive books under fake names.

He claimed the school was mistreating him with its decision.

"The regents had a meeting and they informed me after the meeting that I was no longer chancellor, and I was given no due process. They never said what policy I violated, and also, there was no hearing where I could actually do as I’m doing with you now: talk about the issues. And I think really, at the end of the day, it’s a question of, our material is covered by the First Amendment."

Going further, he added, "I think it says something about how the board of regents says they want freedom of expression and free speech, but at the end of the day, they are not going to let me do that."

WISCONSIN UNIVERSITY CHANCELLOR PAYS $5G TO EX-PORN ACTRESS TO SPEAK AT SCHOOL: REPORT

Sanchez pushed back on the former administrator, mentioning that a U.S. Supreme Court decision in 2004 ruled that a public officer’s free speech rights "stopped after issues of public concern" and that pornographic videos do not fall under this public concern provision.

Sanchez also pointed out how Gow most likely violated the school’s "code of conduct" with the pornographic behavior.

Gow dismissed the argument, suggesting it was an old ruling not up to date with how the "contemporary world" expresses speech and how the public consumes content.

Elsewhere in the interview, Keilar asked him what that point has to do with anything, to which he replied, "Pornography is certainly a public issue. There are billions of people that watch it every day on the internet, so the work that we’re doing comments on that."

Gow also said that he actually observed the school’s code of conduct as written, adding, "When I was appointed chancellor, I did sign an agreement, but it didn’t say anything about a code of conduct or morality or anything like that. It did say ‘set a good example.’ And I think what I’m doing with my wife is setting a good example regarding freedom of expression and free speech."

Gow made similar points to Fox News Digital on Saturday. He first cited Wisconsin law, stating, "I did not receive due process because when the Universities of Wisconsin Board of Regents terminated me as Chancellor they were required to follow Wisconsin Stat. § 19.85(1)(b), which requires a ‘faculty member or other public employee… is given actual notice of any evidentiary hearing which may be held prior to final action being taken… The notice shall contain a statement that the person has the right to demand that the evidentiary hearing or meeting be held in open session.’"

He also cited the board's policy, saying, "I believe my books and videos are protected by the Regents' ‘Commitment to Academic Freedom and Freedom of \Expression,’ which states ‘Exploration, deliberation, and debate may not be suppressed because the ideas put forth are thought by some or even by most members of the university community (or those outside the community) to be offensive, unwise, immoral, or wrong-headed.’"

Continuing to cite the policy, he added, "It is for the members of the university community, not for the institution itself, to make those judgments for themselves, and to act on those judgments not by seeking to suppress exploration of ideas or expression of speech, but by openly and vigorously contesting the ideas that they oppose."

The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse did not immediately reply to a request for comment.

Jets head coach addresses not appearing ‘angry or upset’ after Browns loss

The New York Jets lost their 10th game of the season Thursday night against the Cleveland Browns, who clinched a playoff berth for just the second time since 2002.

It’s been a rough year for the Jets, who lost Aaron Rodgers after just four snaps and have started four different quarterbacks this season.

On Thursday, the Jets committed 12 penalties for 74 yards, a trend that has resulted in New York being the most penalized team in the NFL.

BROWNS' ELIJAH MOORE APPEARS TO CONVULSE AFTER FALLING HEADFIRST TO GROUND ON TACKLE

After the game, a reporter told head coach Robert Saleh that he didn’t appear "angry or upset" after another loss.

"Do you want me to throw the podium on the floor?" Saleh asked the reporter before the press conference ended.

While the Jets have struggled to do anything offensively after Rodgers tore his Achilles against the Buffalo Bills in Week 1, the Browns have found their savior following the season-ending injury to Deshaun Watson.

Joe Flacco moved to 4-1 as Cleveland’s starting quarterback after signing with the Browns last month.

Flacco threw for 294 yards in the first half Thursday, finishing the game with 309 passing yards while throwing three touchdown passes and an interception.

"You don’t know how many of these moments you’re going to get," Flacco said. "I’m going to remember this for the rest of my life."

Flacco spent the last three years of his career with the Jets, where he went 1-8 as a starter.

Since taking over in Cleveland, Flacco has thrown for at least 300 yards in four of his five starts.

"Everybody always joked, even in Baltimore, was he elite?" Jets linebacker C.J. Mosley said of Flacco, according to ESPN. "He's showing it. Not a lot of guys, especially veterans like him and his age, just coming from home, hanging with his kids, do what he's done. I told him after the game, it's crazy to hear the Browns fans screaming, 'Flacco!' That was pretty wild to me, but I'm happy for him. Obviously, we wanted to get the win, but just as a friend, as a fan, I'm definitely happy for him."

The Browns are still alive for the top spot in the AFC with one game remaining on their schedule.

Kaitlin Armstrong could have received a lighter sentence if the jury had known she was pregnant: Report

Kaitlin Armstrong was pregnant around the time of her arrest for murder, which could have swayed the jury to give her a more lenient sentence, according to court filings.

The new revelations were revealed in Armstrong's defense team's bid for a new trial, which was filed on December 15 and obtained by The Daily Mail.

"Kaitlin has also been pregnant twice, once (sic) occasion of which was during or near the time of her arrest," the filing says, according to The Daily Mail.

"Considering the sentence here was for 90 years and a maximum fine, there should be no question that this mitigating evidence would have resulted in a more lenient punishment.'"

KAITLIN ARMSTRONG SENTENCED FOR MURDER OF MO WILSON, GRAVEL CYCLING STAR

Armstrong was convicted by a Texas jury of fatally shooting Anna Moriah "Mo" Wilson, a perceived romantic rival, after she went swimming and had dinner with Armstrong's then-boyfriend Colin Strickland.

Strickland and Armstrong briefly dated in 2021, broke up and got back together.

TOP 5 REVELATIONS IN KAITLIN ARMSTRONG TRIAL

After the murder, Armstrong fled to Costa Rica, had plastic surgery in an apparent attempt to evade law enforcement and remained on the run for 43 days.

The appeal also introduces new arguments in an attempt to portray Armstrong as a more sympathetic person.

She was a victim of sexual abuse and raised by an alcoholic mother and abandoned by her father, according to the court documents.

"As her family struggled during her childhood, her childhood friend also recalled Kaitlin was the victim of multiple instances of (actual or attempted) sexual violence," Armstrong's lawyer wrote.

Maine quadruple homicide suspect Joseph Eaton withdraws insanity plea

A man charged with killing his parents and two of their friends days after being released from prison in Maine no longer intends to use an insanity defense.

Through his lawyer, Joseph Eaton withdrew a plea of "not criminally responsible" because of mental illness but maintained a plea of not guilty in a court filing earlier this month in Sagadahoc County.

His attorney didn't elaborate on the decision in the Dec. 8 document but noted that it means a forensic report on criminal responsibility will remain impounded. The attorney's office was closed Wednesday and he didn't return an email.

MAINE POLICE IDENTIFY GUNMAN WHO ALLEGEDLY SHOT AND KILLED FOUR PEOPLE, WOUNDED THREE OTHERS

Law enforcement officials say Eaton confessed to the killings at a property in rural Bowdoin and to wounding three people while shooting at vehicles on busy Interstate 295 in Yarmouth.

Killed in the shootings were Eaton’s parents, Cynthia Eaton, 62, and David Eaton, 66, along with their longtime friends, Bowdoin homeowners Robert Eger, 72, and Patti Eger, 62, officials said.

MAINE MAN INDICTED, ACCUSED OF KILLING PARENTS AND 2 OTHERS

Eaton has been jailed since his arrest on April 18, the day the bodies were discovered. He was arrested near the chaotic scene along the highway.

Eaton previously told the Portland Press Herald, which first reported the change in plea, that he was not in control when he opened fire.

Mom's video of her husband in a tutu at daughter's dance recital hits all the right notes

When it was "strongly suggested" to Tony Paopao that he wear a tutu to accompany his three-year-old daughter in her very first dance recital, he was hesitant.

"At first I didn't want to, I'm already a big guy and didn't want to bring more attention to myself," Tony Paopao of Glenwood, Illinois, told Fox News Digital.

"I also didn't want my daughter to be confused as to why I was wearing one."

NEBRASKA GIRL, 5, ASKS HER GRANDPA TO ACCOMPANY HER TO THE DADDY-DAUGHTER VALENTINE'S DAY DANCE

But at the encouragement of his wife, his daughter's dance instructor and ultimately his daughter, Willow, Tony Paopao went along with the plan.

After all, it had been Tony Paopao who had been accompanying Willow to her dance lessons every Saturday, his wife Tiana said.

"They go to her ballet class, then [the] gym and then out for ice cream," Tiana Paopao told Fox News Digital.

"It's their thing. He's always very hands-on," she added.

GIRL IN NEBRASKA BRINGS HER GRANDPA TO DADDY-DAUGHTER DANCE: 'THEY HAD A GREAT TIME'

It's a requirement for a parent to accompany their child in the recital for Willow's age group.

Because it was Tony Paopao taking the couple's daughter to dance each week, it was he who learned the routine and ultimately performed with Willow in the show.

He didn't put the tutu on right away though, noted Tiana Paopao.

"He's huge – 6'5" and 385 pounds," she said.

But when it came time to dress and take the stage, Tony Paopao and Willow were getting high-fives and praise.

"He even led the parade after the curtain call," Tiana Paopao said.

Tony Paopao said the most memorable on-stage moment was, "every time I picked her [Willow] up I heard her giggling, and [saw her] smiling. She's so much fun."

Tiana Paopao posted a video of the recital routine on Dec. 17 to Instagram where it's been viewed 102,000 times and "liked" over 6,000 times.

"You’re a 6’5 350 lb samoan… but you’re also a girl dad lol," the mom of two captioned the Reel.

Most of the feedback, she said, has been positive.

"Some people have been comparing him to The Rock," she said. "He loves it."

'Chaos' and 'fury' in NYC as officials lose faith in Mayor Eric Adams over migrant crisis: report

Some critics are calling New York City Mayor Eric Adams' management of the migrant crisis chaotic and are casting doubt over his leadership, according to a New York Times feature.

In a Tuesday article headlined, "Chaos, fury, mistakes: 600 days inside New York's migrant crisis," The Times interviewed human rights advocates and local officials on New York City's handling of the migrant crisis.

Adams announced back in May that the city has received over 70,000 migrants into the city. For months, the mayor of one of America's most recognizable cities has told New Yorkers the migrant crisis will worsen a budget shortfall and cause suffering for both constituents and migrants. Adams said that New York City has already spent more than $1 billion in addressing the migrant crisis and is projected to need more than $4 billion in funding.

NYC MAYOR ADAMS MIGRANT CRISIS WILL LEAD TO 'EXTREMELY PAINFUL' BUDGET CUTS; DOESN’T EXPECT FEDS TO HELP

The Republican executive of Orange County, Steven Neuhaus, told The Times that Adams sent two buses of migrants to his county without making good on his promise to contact him before proceeding.

"I never heard anything back," Neuhaus said. "Soon, two buses of migrants, with New York City police escorts, arrived at an Orange County hotel," according to The Times.

Other officials in upstate New York also complained that Adams did not give them "adequate warning" before sending buses of migrants upstate.

"It angered everybody," Daniel McCoy, the Albany County executive, told The Times.

NEW YORK CITY MIGRANT FAMILIES URGE MAYOR TO REVOKE 60-DAY SHELTER LIMIT

Some officials, like New York City comptroller Brad Lander, have directly opposed Adams, restricting "the mayor’s emergency power to contract for migrant services without review."

"His spokeswoman pointed to ‘extensive failures’ by the city," The Times reported.

A volunteer aid group executive, Power Malu, called the scenes "fabricated chaos."

Some migrants choose to "sleep on the sidewalk outside an office to hold their place in line" for shelter, with others getting into outright "[s]hoving matches."

The confusion and overcrowding of shelters in New York City and across the state comes as migrants' families and advocates protest Adams' policy for a 60-day limit for stay in shelters, per the Associated Press

Adams' office did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Fox News Digital.

Cowboys' Micah Parsons upset with officials after loss to Dolphins: 'Free me dawg!!!'

Dallas Cowboys linebacker Micah Parsons took issue with the officiating in the team’s close loss to the Miami Dolphins on Sunday and expressed his frustrations to reporters and on social media.

Parsons was upset about the lack of holding penalties against the Dolphins. The team’s website noted he’s gone 38 straight quarters without drawing a holding penalty. This season, he has 13 sacks, 53 total tackles and has tied his career high with 30 QB hits.

"It's mind-blowing, the things that are getting called, the positions we get put in," he said via the team’s website. "We just got to learn to fight the adversity and know a lot of it is BS. It's football plays, but it's the world we live in. We got the star on the helmet."

Parsons did receive a penalty when he hit quarterback Tua Tagovailoa on one play. He pushed Tagovailoa in the back and the quarterback went to the ground. It was his only roughing the passer penalty of the season.

"[The official] said my intent was to punish the quarterback," Parsons said. "But how am I trying to punish him if I'm just trying to sack him? It's not like it's a late hit. I didn't leave my feet. I didn't lead with my head. I don't know how you make that call."

"I got there so quick, how was I supposed to know he got the ball out? It was within a second. I didn't leave my feet. I didn't lead with my head, so I don't know what a roughing the passer is anymore. In reality, I ran into D-Law. We both met at the quarterback. Like I said, it's just hard to play defense."

On social media, Parsons posted a photo on his Instagram Stories that showed him trying to break free of two Dolphins linemen.

"Free me dawg!!!" he wrote. "Whatever I did to the officials I’m sorry."

Miami kicker Jason Sanders gave the Dolphins the 22-20 win in the closing seconds.

Parsons had seven tackles in the game.

Biden scolds media for negative coverage of economy: 'Start reporting it the right way'

President Biden took a swipe at the media for negative coverage of the economy ahead of his holiday vacation.

Upon leaving the White House on Saturday before spending his Christmas at Camp David, Biden was asked by a reporter about his "outlook" of the economy going into 2024.

"All good. Take a look," Biden responded.

"Start reporting it the right way," he added with a smirk.

FOX NEWS POLL: ONLY 14% SAY THEY HAVE BEEN HELPED BY BIDEN'S ECONOMIC POLICIES

Biden has repeatedly been critical of the press, which he accuses of focusing more on negative news than positive things that come from his administration.

But his approval among Americans continues reaching historic lows and his handling of the economy is a heavy factor in his unpopularity.

AMERICANS DESCRIBE STRUGGLES TO AFFORD FOOD WHILE BIDEN TOUTS STRONG ECONOMY: ‘I AM HONESTLY SCARED’

A recent Fox News poll shows only 14% of Americans believe Biden's economic policies have helped them while nearly half (46%) say his administration has hurt them financially.

The pessimism towards the economy crosses party lines. The Fox News poll showed a whopping 61% of Democrats joining the 93% of Republicans and 85% of independents who say the economy is in bad condition.

Democrats are becoming increasingly concerned about Biden going into the 2024 presidential election. The RealClearPolitics average of polls shows him more than two points behind former President Trump in a hypothetical rematch.

Among other factors that could negatively impact Biden include his handling of the border, the crises overseas including Ukraine and Israel, the legal woes plaguing his son Hunter and the impeachment inquiry recently launched by House Republicans.

Iran-backed Houthis launched two separate attacks on commercial vessels sailing in the Red Sea on Monday, Fox News has learned.

According to U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM), Houthis hit the Swan Atlantic, which is a chemical and oil tanker motor vessel. The Cayman Islands-flagged ship was targeted with a one-way attack drone and an anti-ship ballistic missile.

CENTCOM reported that the weapons were launched from Houthi-controlled parts of Yemen.

USS Carney responded to assist the Swan Atlantic. A motor vessel named Clara reported an explosion in the water near them at around the same time.

The Swan Atlantic reported impact, but no one onboard was injured. The Clara did not report either damage or injuries.

Gun ownership in California’s Jewish community is spiking as Jews take self-defense into their own hands while the war in Israel continues raging, according to a rabbi who trains the community on gun safety.

"Magen Am’s mission is to train and empower the community to deter and respond to security threats. We're trying to give everybody the tool to be empowered to protect themselves," Los Angeles-based Rabbi Yossi Eilfort said in a video produced by the NRA exclusively obtained by Fox News Digital.

Eilfort is an NRA instructor and founder of Magen Am USA, the only Jewish, nonprofit organization licensed on the West Coast to provide armed security services.

Magen Am, which operates in LA as well as Phoenix, trains volunteers and community members in extensive classes on gun safety, hand-to-hand self-defense, de-escalation, verbal tactics and the use of intermediate weapons such as Tasers or batons.

The video features a few women who Eilfort and Magen Am have trained on gun safety, as well as security personnel who work with the company to strengthen protection around Jewish institutions, such as schools and synagogues.

"Magen Am means ‘nation’s shield.’ I like to say we're like a shield. Were about 30-30-30: Where one-third is hired professionals dealing with institutional security; one-third dealing with community training; and then one-third is working with government law enforcement," Eilfort, who is also a former MMA fighter, explained in the video of how Magen Am operates.

War broke out in Israel on Oct. 7 when the terrorist group Hamas launched attacks on the nation, which sparked protests and antisemitic rhetoric stateside as supporters of Palestine took to the streets of cities such as New York and Los Angeles.

"I feel like a target. Explosives have been thrown at the synagogue right behind my house," one woman trained by Magen Am said in the video.

The Israeli Defense Forces announced Tuesday morning that it has killed a prominent financier who helped funnel tens of millions of dollars to fund Hamas' military forces, salaries and war activities.

Subhi Ferwana, alongside his brother, "funneled tens of millions through his company 'Hamsat' to fund Hamas' military forces, terrorists' salaries and war activities," the IDF wrote on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter.

"Ferwana transferred funds to Hamas’ military wing during the war and was aware that these funds would be vital for continuing the wing’s ability to fight," the IDF continued. "The funds were used - among other things - for intensification of military forces, the payment of terrorists’ salaries during the war, and to finance Hamas' war activities."

"To date, five Israeli civilians have been killed in these attacks and 80,000 civilians in northern Israel have evacuated their homes."

The Israeli military argued that Hezbollah is violating UN Security Council Resolution 1701 by "continuing to operate and fire projectiles and UAVs from southern Lebanon at Israel."

"Moreover, Hezbollah has carried out many of these attacks from areas near UN positions and Lebanese Armed Forces compounds," the IDF continued. "This demonstrates Hezbollah’s blatant abuse of the international and national institutions responsible for security in southern Lebanon."

The IDF concluded their press release by vowing that they would "continue to defend Israel's northern border from any threat."

U.S. forces in the Middle East have been attacked 101 times in Iraq and Syria since October 17, Fox News has learned.

The latest three attacks happened on December 16, according to a U.S. defense official. There have not been any attacks on the American bases since.

Since October 17, there have been 46 separate attacks against American forces in Iraq and 55 in Syria. The attacks have been conducted with a mix of rockets and one-way drones.

It is unclear which group launched the weapons towards U.S. troops in the latest 3 attacks, but Houthis have continually targeted the U.S. in the region since the escalation of the Israel-Hamas war.

An Israeli hacker group is taking credit Monday for a cyberattack that disrupted operations at nearly 70% of the gas stations in Iran, reports say.

Iranian state media is claiming that an Israeli hacker group called Gonjeshke Darande, also known as Predatory Sparrow, is behind the outages, according to Reuters. Gonjeshke Darande later claimed responsibility for the cyberattack, according to Israel's Ynet News and Times of Israel. A series of posts on a Telegram page reported to be theirs said the attack was carried out in response to "the aggression of the Islamic Republic and its proxies in the region."

"Khamenei, playing with fire has a price," statements continued, referencing Iran's supreme leader. "A month ago we warned you that we’re back and that we will impose [a] cost for your provocations. This is just a taste of what we have in store."

Boston's leading newspaper called out Harvard University for its "confusing" message on plagiarism, after the university backed embattled President Claudine Gay amid allegations she plagiarized past academic writings.

"Last week the university’s governing board released a confusing statement that appeared to confirm a few instances of plagiarism — without using that word," the Boston Globe editorial board wrote on Monday.

Gay faced scrutiny last week after media outlets reported several instances of alleged plagiarism in Gay's past writings. The Harvard Corporation said an independent academic probe discovered "a few instances of inadequate citation" in her writings as well. However, they "found no violation of Harvard's standards for research misconduct."

Despite this, Gay said she would be "proactively requesting four corrections in two articles to insert citations and quotation marks that were omitted from the original publications."

Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., said she personally warned President Biden about his re-election efforts and the importance of Muslim and young voters, who feel "heartbroken" about the Israel-Hamas war.

CBS Minnesota anchor Esme Murphy asked the far-left "Squad" member about an "abandon Biden" movement, and asked her if she would support the president in 2024.

"I recently had a conversation with the president," she responded. "Muslims were very pivotal to his election, they mobilized in all the key states. Young people were very instrumental in getting him elected. And what I reminded him is that he needs to listen to these voices. People are heartbroken. It's been really hard to have conversations about politics and policy. People just want the images of young children's bodies that are piling up to end, and they want our support for this to end."

Omar has been very critical of the president's position in the Israel-Hamas conflict and, in October, questioned his stance during a diatribe on Capitol Hill.

Harvard reported a 17% decline in its early admissions applications compared to a year ago as the Ivy League college remains embroiled in controversy over its handling of antisemitism on campus.

Harvard College announced Thursday that it accepted 692 students to the class of 2028 out of the 7,921 applicants who applied under Harvard’s Early Action Program, which required applications to be submitted by Nov. 1.

That amounts to a 17% drop compared to last year’s early application window when 9,553 submitted applications, and is the smallest number of early applicants since the pandemic began – though this year’s group is larger than the annual early applications received in the 2017-2019 period.

Two of Harvard’s fellow Ivy League institutions saw increases in the number of early applications received.

Yale University received 7,856 early applications this year, an increase of 1.4% from a year ago and the second-highest number in its history, the school announced in a release Friday. The University of Pennsylvania – which saw President Liz Magill resign last week amid a controversy over the handling of antisemitism on campus – also saw 500 more applications than last year, according to a report by Bloomberg.

Barr calls on Supreme Court to ‘smack down’ Colorado decision, offers quip on Trump-Biden matchup

Former U.S. Attorney General Bill Barr recently claimed that Former President Trump’s strategy to "run out the clock" in Special Counsel Jack Smith’s federal prosecution against may prove "successful" and that he could make it to the presidency before he’s convicted of a crime.

Though Barr weighed in on Trump’s potential political fate, he still declined to say whether he’d vote for or against his former boss for president, only saying, "I’ll jump off that bridge when I get to it."

Barr made the statements during a Saturday segment of Fox News Channel’s "Cavuto Live," giving host Neil Cavuto an assessment of the U.S. Supreme Court recently declining Smith’s request that the court expedite a ruling on whether Trump has immunity from prosecution related to the 2020 election interference case.

POLL SHOWS BIDEN HITTING RECORD LOW APPROVALS, FALLING BEHIND AGAINST TRUMP IN 2024 MATCHUP

The court’s denial – which came after Trump’s legal team asked the court not to rush a ruling –means a trial of the former president may be delayed, and a potential conviction on federal charges may not come until after Trump is re-elected.

Cavuto prompted Barr, stating, "You know, the core of the former president’s argument – the legal team’s argument – is to challenge a lot of this and push it back. And some have argued that he’s running out the clock, but that It’s working for him. Do you agree with that?"

Barr replied, "Yeah, I mean his strategy is to run out the clock and he has a lot of tools to do that, and he may be successful."

Laying out what Trump’s defense against Smith’s case is, Barr explained, "This issue here – I think everyone agrees that there’s something called absolute immunity for your official functions – if you’re performing an official function, the president has absolute immunity, and I think that has to be protected. I support that."

He continued, noting how both sides in Smith’s case will view Trump’s actions in questioning the 2020 election: "The government’s position is gonna be that he was a candidate, he was acting as a candidate, not really as president. And [Trump’s] argument is gonna be, I think, that whenever he uses an official function, if he directs the department to do something – even if the purpose is as a candidate – but if he uses that tool, then he’s immune."

DEMOCRATS DROP 'BIDENOMICS' AS SOME VOTERS COMPLAIN IT'S 'TONE-DEAF': REPORT

"And that’s where the case is gonna hinge," Barr added.

Elsewhere in the interview, Barr spoke about the Colorado Supreme Court ruling to remove Trump from the state primary ballot this week. The former government official slammed the decision, saying, "I hope the [U.S. Supreme] Court – the Court has to smack this down very quickly. I think the legal argument here for it is ridiculous. Even more importantly, it is highly destructive, and it’s exactly the kind of tactics by the left that created Donald Trump in the first place."

After the legal assessments and further talk about a potential second Trump presidency, Cavuto asked, "But if that’s your choice, Joe Biden or Donald Trump, where does Bill Barr go?"

He replied, "Well as I said, I’ll jump off that bridge when I get to it." Cavuto pressed once more, asking Barr how he could vote for Trump after the "bad blood" between them. He replied, "Well, I could not support Biden."

University of Idaho warns it will tow away cars parked outside King Road house during demolition this month

New signs are warning drivers not to park outside the University of Idaho home where four students were killed last year as the school prepares to tear down the site, which administrators see as a "grim reminder" just steps away from the edge of campus.

No parking is allowed on the 1122 King Road side of the street from 5 a.m. to 6 p.m. on December 28 and 29, or between January 2 and 5. A separate flyer informs drivers there is free parking at campus lot 111A, where no permits will be required.

Four undergrads, Madison Mogen, Kaylee Goncalves, Xana Kernodle and Ethan Chapin, were killed in the six-bedroom rental home around 4 a.m. on November 13, 2022. All four were honored posthumously at the university's commencement the semester after their murders.

BRYAN KOHBERGER TRIAL: IDAHO PROSECUTORS REQUEST PREFERRED DATES, SCHEDULE

The brutality of the crime garnered international attention as police spent nearly two months searching for a suspect. It also attracted reporters, true crime bloggers and gawkers to the home.

Authorities arrested Bryan Kohberger, a Ph.D. student at the neighboring Washington State University, at his parents' Pennsylvania house on December 30.

The landlord donated the property to the school, which announced plans to tear down the building on December 28, 2023. The building has been under armed guard 24/7 since the slayings. Authorities also boarded up the windows and doors and installed temporary fencing.

Critics of the decision, including some legal experts and Kernodle's mother, say they believe it should remain standing until Kohberger stands trial so that jurors can have an opportunity to tour the scene firsthand.

Other experts, however, told Fox News Digital that a jury visit would be a logistical hurdle that may not have much payoff after investigators on both sides have extensively photographed and measured the interior.

Prosecutors asked Judge John Judge to set a trial date this summer. They expect it to take six weeks.

UI architecture students have also been tasked with creating a memorial garden for the stabbing victims and other classmates who met tragic ends at the school.

Two other housemates survived, including one who heard crying and saw a masked man with "bushy eyebrows" leave out the back door.

Police found a knife sheath under Mogen's body that they say had Kohberger's DNA on it. Authorities also cited phone records and surveillance video showing Kohberger's white Hyundai Elantra in a probable cause affidavit last year.

At the time of the murders, Kohberger was studying for a Ph.D. in criminology at Washington State University, just 10 miles from Moscow, Idaho.

Judge Judge entered not-guilty pleas on Kohberger's behalf at his arraignment in May. He could face the death penalty if convicted.

Tree hidden in Central Park serves as special pet memorial: 'Warms my heart'

A tree in Central Park, Manhattan, appears to be leaving a lasting impression on visitors for an unexpected and heartwarming reason.

Central Park, located in the heart of New York City, occupies 840 acres and is home to over 18,000 trees, according to the Central Park Conservancy.

One tree in the park, however, is catching eyes as it holds a special meaning for pet owners far and wide.

THE RAW DIET FOR DOGS IS TAKING OVER TIKTOK, BUT WHAT DOES YOUR VETERINARIAN THINK OF THE LATEST TREND?

A tree located in the Ramble in Central Park serves as a pet memorial, and anyone can add their pet to the site.

The Ramble, one of Central Park’s three woodland landscapes, stretches 36 acres in the middle of the park between 73rd and 79th street, per the Central Park Conservancy.

LOST DOG IS SAFELY RESCUED AFTER IT SURVIVED ALONE IN THE WOODS FOR MORE THAN 6 YEARS

Although the tree may be mistaken for a Christmas tree this time of year, it actually functions as a memorial with hundreds of pet photos posted by pet owners who visit the park.

Lori Rumpel, a 35-year Manhattan resident, told Fox News Digital that she discovered the tree while taking a stroll through the Ramble.

"It’s so unique and special, unlike any other tree in Central Park," she explained. "It warms my heart."

Rumpel, who said she started walking more during the pandemic, explained that she can "feel the love in each and every photo."

The tree turns into a pet memorial each year around November for about six to eight weeks, according to TheFureverTree.com – a website dedicated to the memorial.

Pets included in the memorial are dogs, cats, birds and more, according to the site.

On Dec. 16, 2023, Central Park held a two-mile walk to the pet memorial so that people in the community could add their pet pictures to the tree.

The walk was hosted by the Ever Walk Group – a nationwide non-profit walking club. It involved participants bringing a laminated photo of a pet that had died along with a ribbon or string to hang it, per the Central Park website.

Border Patrol officials say threat posed by ‘gotaways’ at southern border ‘keeps us up at night’

FIRST ON FOX: Top Border Patrol sector chiefs expressed concern about the number of illegal immigrants evading detection at the southern border, saying the potential threat coming across the border "keeps us up at night" during interviews with the House Homeland Security Committee throughout the year.

Fox News Digital obtained excerpts from transcripts of interviews with the committee taken during the year as part of its work on the ongoing migrant crisis, which has set multiple records this year.

Then-Chief Patrol Agent Jason Owens, now head of the Border Patrol, told lawmakers that a major concern for the agency is the impact the humanitarian crisis has on the border security mission.

SOUTHERN BORDER HIT BY RECORD NUMBER OF MIGRANT ENCOUNTERS IN A SINGLE DAY AS THOUSANDS FLOOD INTO TEXAS

"And our true adversary, the smugglers, while we’re tied up with this humanitarian effort, what are they doing around the bend that we can’t be there to respond to?" he told the committee in May. "Is that where they’re crossing dangerous narcotics? Is that where they’re crossing convicted felons? That is what keeps us up at night."

"Gotaways" are illegal immigrants who evade Border Patrol detection but are sometimes caught by other forms of surveillance. Fox reported this month that officials told lawmakers that there were around 670,000 known gotaways in FY23.

There have been increased concerns about gotaways given the ongoing migrant crisis, where agents are being diverted to processing duties rather than out in the field. In some areas, agents have been outnumbered 200:1 by migrants. FBI Director Christopher Wray said in November that gotaways are a source of "great concern" for the FBI.

Tucson Sector Chief Patrol Agent John Modlin, in July, said that when agents are aware of large groups of migrants, "then the primary goal becomes the humanitarian mission of, of course, apprehending them, but also making sure that they’re not out there in the heat. We try to get them out as soon as possible. So then the border security mission suffers at that point."

Owens said that those who are seeking to evade Border Patrol, rather than turning themselves in for processing as many do every single day, are more likely to have something to hide.

"If a person is willing to put themselves into harm’s way crossing through very remote, very dangerous conditions to evade capture, you have to ask yourself why. What makes them willing to take that risk? That’s of concern to me," he said. "What’s also of concern to me is I don’t know who that individual is. I don’t know where they came from. I don’t know what their intention is. I don’t know what they brought with them. That unknown represents a risk, a threat. It’s of great concern to anybody that wears this uniform."

Then-El Paso Chief Patrol Agent Gloria Chavez was asked in September what types of crimes and allegations are among those seeking to evade detection.

"So there’s a variety that are encountered. Many times it’s gang members. Other times, there are criminal records of sex offenders, homicide, burglaries, etc.," she said, according to the excerpts.

However, El Centro Sector Chief Patrol Agent Gregory Bovino said his concerns were broader than just the gotaways.

5,000 ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS RELEASED EVERY DAY INTO US, ADMIN OFFICIALS PRIVATELY TELL LAWMAKERS

"Any gotaway or any illegal alien for that matter presents a threat to national security or a threat to the taxpayer of the United States," he said.

House Homeland Security Chairman Mark Green said in a statement that officials have warned that the true number of gotaways could be higher due to those who are evading detection as well as agents.

"We know nothing about the people entering our country uncaught, and we don’t know their intentions or possible malign ambitions. We do know that many gotaways pay the cartels extra to avoid apprehension, which should make us all wonder — why?" he said. "Why give up the prospect of likely release into the interior of the country after turning yourself in to the Border Patrol, being released to a local NGO, and given a paid-for bus or plane ticket to the destination of your choice — unless you have something to hide?"

Sector chiefs also talked about how they have been forced to pull resources from CBP checkpoints, including shutting them down, to focus on the physical land border itself.

San Diego Chief Patrol Agent Aaron Heitke said in May that in 2021 and 2022, his San Diego Sector pulled resources "off of the maritime side and then the checkpoint side and focused on the actual physical land border." Other officials said the migratory surges made it "more challenging to keep checkpoints, through which illegal entrants can be arrested, open."

Republicans have blamed the policies of the Biden administration for the migrant crisis, including the roll-back of Trump-era policies. DHS has said it is dealing with a hemisphere-wide crisis and is expanding legal pathways for entry while increasing consequences for illegal entry and targeting smugglers. It says it needs more funding and immigration reform from Congress to fix a "broken" system. A $14 billion funding request is being debated in Washington as lawmakers struggle to find agreement on the supplemental spending bill.

A DHS official told Fox that there have been 400,000 removals between May and the end of November — nearly the number of removals in all of FY19. The official also noted that the supplemental funding request includes funding for 1,300 additional agents in addition to the 20,000+ funded in the FY24 budget, and 300 Border Patrol Processing Coordinators among other staff.

Democrats on the committee have highlighted other parts of the interviews, including one in which Chavez stressed the importance of Border Patrol processing coordinators.

"They are an added value to the workforce, especially in the central processing centers. Their input and their contribution to the processing has been exemplary," Chavez said, adding that 52-64% of personnel are now able to handle enforcement in the field.

She also said that the surge in troops to the border by the Pentagon around the ending of Title 42 "releases our agents from those responsibilities so that they can go and do patrol and interdiction duties on the front line."

Owens, meanwhile, was asked if processing coordinators had helped get Border Patrol agents back in the field.

"Absolutely. Anything and everything is going to help," he said.

Officials have also said that detection capability has increased, which allows more gotaways to be detected: "Because we have gotten more detection capability, because we have…more on the way, we’ve got the additional processing coordinators, we are in a better situation than we were in years past," he said.

Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards’ personal text messages with an Instagram model were put out in the public sphere on Sunday, forcing the guard to comment on it.

Paige Jordae released text messages that appeared to show her telling Edwards she was pregnant and she had an appointment to see a doctor. Edwards, who is tagged in the screenshots posted on Instagram, appeared to respond, "Hell Nawl can’t do dis."

"Honestly I had an abortion with my son around 2 years ago and I regret it everyday," she responded.

Edwards wrote back that he didn’t "want a kid." He seemingly encouraged her to "just take the pills" and wanted her to send him a video of her taking the right pills. He asked her to "send da video" multiple times.

The exchange appeared to take place between late November and early December. The texts also suggested Edwards offered to handle the issue between themselves but later got a lawyer involved.

Jordae then put out a longer statement about the issue on her Stories.

"I’ve never once ran to the internet about NO ONE," she wrote. "I tried over and over to handle this privately and my efforts were ignored.

"I’ve been lied to and manipulated by someone who knows exactly what they’re doing and takes no accountability for anything."

She also posted a screenshot of a wire transfer of $100,000.

Edwards on Monday posted a statement about the exchange.

"I made comments in the heat of a moment that are not me, and that are not aligned with what I believe and who I want to be as a man," the statement read. "All women should be supported and empowered to make their own decisions about their bodies and what is best for them.

"I am handling my personal matters privately and will not be commenting on them any further at this time."

New Mexico State coach rips rival AD over alleged bowl game mishap: 'That's chickens---'

New Mexico State football coach Jerry Kill tore into University of New Mexico athletic director Eddie Nunez after the team lost its bowl game to Fresno State on Saturday.

Kill guided the Aggies to the New Mexico Bowl against the Bulldogs. But the team lost 37-10. The veteran coach said the athletic director tried to deny his team access to practice facilities in a retaliation move from an incident earlier in the season.

He told ESPN the team would have needed to practice on a high school field if the New Mexico Bowl director Jeff Siembieda didn’t intervene and help push for the Aggies to use New Mexico’s field. Kill said the team arrived on Thursday as four police officers were there to watch the team. They were not there on Friday.

Kill suggested New Mexico’s problem with the Aggies stemmed from an incident over the summer in which New Mexico State quarterback Diego Pavia was seen urinating on the New Mexico logo in the indoor practice facility. The incident came to light in September.

"I hope the AD here gets the same damn discipline with the people around this state that Diego got, because he deserves it," he said. "It don't bother me a damn bit. When he don't let us... practice in the indoor facility, when he don't want us to do this and do that, that's chickens---.

VICE PRESIDENT KAMALA HARRIS ATTENDS CELEBRATION BOWL IN SUPPORT OF ALMA MATER: 'IT WAS A GOOD GAME'

"I don't care, that's my opinion, if I get in trouble, I don't give a s--- either. Because I can go down to Mexico tomorrow, drink margaritas and let you all enjoy your life, because I'll be enjoying mine. But I've got class. I've had class my whole life."

Nunez pushed back on Kill’s assertions, saying the school "would never stand in the way" of any team practicing for its bowl game. He told ESPN the suggestion that it would retaliate against the school was "both misguided and offensive."

Saturday’s loss to Fresno State was the Aggies’ first defeat in a bowl game in the school’s history.

North Korea fires ballistic missile into sea, blames US for destabilizing region

North Korea launched a short-range ballistic missile into the sea on Sunday, South Korea said, as Pyongyang blamed the U.S. for escalating military tensions on the Korean Peninsula.

The missile was fired off North Korea’s east coast near its capital of Pyongyang and flew 354 miles (570 kilometers) before landing in the sea,

The Japanese Coast Guard said the missile had fallen less than 20 minutes after its launch, Reuters reported.

The South criticized the launch as a "clear violation" of U.N. Security Council resolutions that have banned the North from using ballistic technologies.

SOUTH KOREA SAYS NORTH KOREA FACES ‘HELL OF DESTRUCTION’ AFTER ENDING 2018 MILITARY PACT

North Korea’s Defense Ministry issued a statement shortly after the launch but did not mention the ballistic missile.

Instead, the ministry criticized the U.S. for what it called a "reckless military threat" that was destabilizing the region, referring to the U.S. deployment of military assets, including strategic bombers and nuclear-powered submarines, to South Korea.

"The armed forces of the DPRK will thoroughly neutralize the U.S. and its vassal forces' attempt to ignite a nuclear war and thus reliably ensure peace and security in the Korean peninsula," a ministry spokesman said in a statement obtained by Reuters.

Pyongyang also condemned Washington's and Seoul’s move to include nuclear operation scenarios in their joint drills, describing it as an open threat to potentially use nuclear weapons against the North and vowing to prepare unspecified "offensive countermeasures."

TRUMP SAYS REPORTS OF PLANS TO ACCOMODATE NORTH KOREA ARE ‘FAKE NEWS’

Hours before North Korea launched the missile, a joint statement from the U.S. and South Korean said warned Pyongyang that any nuclear attack against the nation or its allies "is unacceptable and will result in the end of the (Kim Jong) Un regime," Reuters reported.

"The U.S. side reiterated that any nuclear attack by the DPRK against the ROK will be met with a swift, overwhelming, and decisive response," the statement said.

The North has test-fired more than 100 missiles since the start of 2022 as North Korean leader Kim Jong Un used the distraction caused by Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine to speed up the expansion of his military nuclear program, which he sees as his strongest guarantee of survival.

Matthew Perry detailed ketamine use prior to death: 'Has my name written all over it'

Matthew Perry revealed in his memoir that he underwent ketamine infusion therapy prior to his death.

The County of Los Angeles Department of Medical Examiner released an autopsy report stating that Perry died of "acute effects of ketamine."

The beloved actor confessed his experience with the deadly drug in his memoir "Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing," and how he used ketamine daily.

MATTHEW PERRY'S CAUSE OF DEATH LISTED AS 'ACUTE EFFECTS OF KETAMINE'

The "Friends" star admitted he was "doing ketamine infusions every day."

"Ketamine was a very popular street drug in the 1980s. There is a synthetic form of it now, and it's used for two reasons: to ease pain and help with depression," he penned. "Has my name written all over it—they might as well have called it 'Matty.'"

Although ketamine "felt like a giant exhale" to Perry, he said it felt like he was "dying."

"Oh, I thought, this is what happens when you die. Yet I would continually sign up for this s*** because it was something different, and anything different is good," he added.

"Taking K is like being hit in the head with a giant happy shovel. But the hangover was rough and outweighed the shovel. Ketamine was not for me."

MATTHEW PERRY CAUSE OF DEATH ‘DEFERRED’: CORONER

Perry died Oct. 28 after an apparent drowning in a hot tub at his home in the Pacific Palisades area of Los Angeles. He was 54.

"There were trace amounts of ketamine detected in the stomach contents," the autopsy listed. "The exact method of intake in Mr. Perry's case is unknown."

WHAT IS KETAMINE, THE DRUG THAT KILLED MATTHEW PERRY ON OCTOBER 28?

Perry reportedly received "ketamine infusion therapy for depression and anxiety."

His last known treatment was more than one week prior to death, but the medical examiner determined "the ketamine in his system at death could not be from that infusion therapy, since ketamine’s half-life is 3 to 4 hours, or less."

No foul play was suspected, and no illegal drugs were reportedly found at the scene. Perry was laid to rest Nov. 3 at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
