AG files last-minute appeal to block Musk from gifting $2 million to voters in high-stakes WI court race

Wisconsin’s attorney general filed a last-minute appeal to the state Supreme Court days after an appellate court denied his request to prevent billionaire DOGE leader Elon Musk from giving $1 million checks to two individuals at Wisconsin Supreme Court candidate Brad Schimel’s Green Bay rally on Sunday evening.

An appeals judge rejected Democrat Joshua Kaul’s bid for an emergency injunction Saturday, as Schimel – a Republican former state attorney general and current Waukesha judge – faces liberal jurist Susan Crawford in the officially nonpartisan race to fill a seat on the blue-trending court.

Kaul asked the 4-3 liberal-majority court to reach a decision "as soon as possible but no later than the planned event on Sunday evening."

Musk has publicly backed and contributed millions of dollars toward Schimel, and Kaul argued the giveaway violates state election laws. The tech mogul also came under fire for making a similar offer in Pennsylvania during the 2024 presidential election.

BIG-MONEY WI COURT RACE COULD HAVE NATIONAL EFFECTS ON REDISTRICTING, UNIONS, TRANS ISSUES

There, Gov. Josh Shapiro told NBC during the campaign season he found Musk’s behavior "deeply concerning." The former commonwealth attorney general added such offers are something police should "take a look at."

In Kaul's filing, he is requesting the Wisconsin Supreme Court for an injunction, alleging "[r]espondents’ offer to pay $1 million to two Wisconsin electors, conditioned on their having voted in the upcoming election, is a violation of Wisconsin Statute § 12.11, which prohibits offering ‘anything of value’ in exchange for "vot[ing] or refrain[ing] from voting."

The emergency basis of his injunction request is therefore rational, Kaul argued.

BRETT FAVRE HAS ONE-WORD RESPONSE TO WISCONSIN GOV'S PROPOSAL THAT WOULD REPLACE WORD 'MOTHER' IN STATE LAW

"This Court should grant the petition for original action and issue an immediate temporary injunction (1) prohibiting Respondents from further promoting the million-dollar giveaway to attendees of the planned event on Sunday, March 30, 2025, (2) prohibiting Respondents from making any payments to Wisconsin electors to vote, and (3) prohibiting all actions by Respondents taken in furtherance of a planned violation of Wis. Stat. § 12.11."

Musk said in a statement Friday that he wished to "clarify a previous [X] post" on the matter.

"[E]ntrance is limited to those who have signed the petition in opposition to activist judges. I will also hand over checks for a million dollars to 2 people to be spokesmen for the petition," Musk said.

Wisconsin Democratic Party Chairman Ben Wikler told the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel it appeared Musk deleted a prior post to cover up "evidence of his crime."

The key off-year race, scheduled for Tuesday, could have national implications, according to both sides.

Schimel supporters previously warned Fox News Digital that two Republican congressmen – House Administration Committee Chairman Bryan Steil of Kenosha and Rep. Derrick Van Orden of Prairie du Chien – could see their districts intentionally redrawn in a backdoor attempt to oust them from office next cycle if Crawford wins.

Blue state Democrat zeroes in on issue where party failed in 2024, explains the path forward

Rep. Ritchie Torres, D-N.Y., told veteran Democratic strategist James Carville that Democrats need to distance themselves from the far-left in order to regain popularity among everyday Americans.

The representative from the South Bronx told Carville and "Politics War Room" podcast co-host Al Hunt on Thursday that Democrats need to go back to the basics and focus on the issues that impact working-class Americans, and ditch the "fashionable nonsense." He also zeroed in on one particular issue, saying of the party's failure: "Where we… bear more responsibility is on immigration."

"We [Democrats] should strive for simple, repeatable messages, nothing fancy, like lower-costs, safe streets, secure borders, protect Social Security, Medicaid and Medicare, make government work for working people. That should be our platform. Ignore the fashionable nonsense."

NY DEMOCRAT CALLS OUT FAR-LEFT 'ABSURDITIES' FROM 'COLLEGE-EDUCATED ELITES' INFLUENCING PARTY

Hunt acknowledged that while he and Carville both believe that most Democrats would agree with what Torres said, that is not the current perception of the Democratic Party. He asked Torres if Democrats being too focused on "fringe issues" had led to this perception of the party.

While Torres wrote off cultural issues as being of "tertiary importance" in the 2024 election, he did concede that Republicans had beat the Democratic Party to the punch when it came to economic and immigration issues.

"I feel like cultural issues were of tertiary importance in the election. I felt the main reasons we lost were inflation and immigration. I know supply chain disruptions led to the highest inflation in more than four decades and when you're the party in power presiding over historic inflation, you're going to pay a political price. So, when it comes to inflation, we as Democrats were victims of circumstance," Torres claimed.

CLICK HERE FOR MORE COVERAGE OF MEDIA AND CULTURE

Although he felt Democrats were "victims of circumstance" on economic issues, he did acknowledge the shortcomings of the party when it came to immigration.

"Where we [Democrats] do, I think, bear more responsibility, is on immigration. You know, since 2022, there was an overwhelming flow of migration at the border whose impact was felt in cities like New York, where the shelter system and the social safety net and our finances were completely overwhelmed. There was a poll in December 2023 showing that 85% of New Yorkers, in a blue city, were concerned about the impact of the migrant crisis on New York City. And the Biden Administration waited two and a half years before taking action against the migrant crisis and by then it was too late. The damage was done. Republicans had successfully weaponized the issue against us," Torres stated.

Torres then accused former President Joe Biden of "pandering to the far-left" after waiting over two years to address the crisis at the southern border, even though reducing illegal immigration was popular among nearly all demographic groups in the country.

"There was a poll on the president's [Joe Biden's] executive order restricting migration. The poll revealed that the majority of Americans, Black and White, Latino and Asians, were overwhelmingly in favor of his executive order. So if his executive order was effective at reducing migration, if it was broadly popular among the American people, why did he wait so long before acting? And the answer is simple: he was pandering to the far-left," Torres asserted.

The congressman believes that the far-left "has outsized power over the messaging and policymaking of the Democratic Party," which he believes makes Democrats "far less viable in the general elections."

RFK Jr. backs work mandates, waivers for food benefits program in red state as part of MAHA mission

Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., spoke Friday in West Virginia’s Eastern Panhandle, as Gov. Patrick Morrisey signed the first letters of intent seeking waivers to allow the Mountain State to eliminate soda from SNAP benefit eligibility.

"We have a public health crisis in this country, and, unfortunately, West Virginia is leading the way," Kennedy said, surrounded by children and local dignitaries at a Catholic school in Martinsburg. Morrisey also signed landmark legislation banning food dyes in West Virginia in support of Kennedy’s "Make America Healthy Again" agenda.

"I'm very, very grateful to Governor Morrisey for his visionary leadership and getting West Virginia to lead the way in transitioning off of processed foods. When my uncle was president, 3% of Americans had chronic disease, and we spent zero dollars on chronic disease in this country. There were no medications [for it]."

Kennedy claimed that, by contrast, the government spends more on Americans’ health issues than the entire defense budget.

WV GOV SIGNS RILEY GAINES ACT

He said that Congress usually debates how to pay for these increased costs, not how to eliminate the health risks and systemic issues that lead to Americans’ globally-low-ranked collective health.

Morrisey praised Kennedy for attending the ceremony, remarking that it proves the "MAHA" movement started "right here in West Virginia." He signed HB 2354 on Monday, which bans the preservative butylated hydroxyanisole, as well as food dyes, from schools, beginning in August and for general sale, starting in 2028.

COAL STILL KEY TO US ENERGY DOMINANCE: WV GOV

"We’re cleaning up our foods, promoting exercise, and putting nutrition back into SNAP. I’m committed to Secretary Kennedy’s vision for America and raising health standards here in the Mountain State," he said Friday from Berkeley County.

Morrisey also plans to implement work requirements for most SNAP recipients, stating that able-bodied applicants must work—citing West Virginia’s last-place ranking in workforce participation as justification.

State Sen. Jason Barrett, R-Martinsburg, who also helped to spearhead the food dye legislation in Charleston, thanked Kennedy for his leadership on the federal level on the issue of Americans’ deteriorating diets and health.

"Our country is in debt to you for doing that."

Barrett said that when he and Del. Evan Worrell, R-Barboursville, began working on the food dye ban and other legislation, they were warned that food and beverage special interests would be coming after them politically.

"My response to ‘big food’ and ‘big drink’ is: Big deal – the people of West Virginia are worth it."

SCOOP: Jasmine Crockett hit with censure effort for mocking paraplegic Texas governor as 'Hot Wheels'

FIRST ON FOX: A GOP lawmaker is moving to have Rep. Jasmine Crockett, D-Texas, formally rebuked by the House of Representatives for appearing to mock Texas Gov. Greg Abbott's disability.

Rep. Randy Weber, R-Texas, Crockett's fellow delegation member, told Fox News Digital he would introduce a censure resolution against the Democratic lawmaker imminently.

"The story of our great governor of Texas is one of unwavering resilience and perseverance. Meanwhile, the actions of Jasmine Crockett – stooping to vile levels of discrimination and despicable political attacks – are nothing short of reprehensible," Weber told Fox News Digital.

PAM BONDI ON JASMINE CROCKETT'S COMMENTS: WORDS HAVE CONSEQUENCES | FOX NEWS VIDEO

He said the House should censure Crockett "for the venomous rhetoric she spews as a representative of the Democratic Party."

"It's painfully obvious she was never taught a single thing about Texas class, as her behavior is a disgrace to everything Texas and the United States stands for," Weber said.

Crockett made the comments during an event held by the Human Rights Campaign over the weekend.

"Y’all know we got Governor Hot Wheels down there – come on now! And the only thing hot about him is that he is a hot a-- mess, honey," Crockett said.

Abbott has been paraplegic since age 26, according to his campaign website, when a large oak tree fell on him during a jog.

Weber's resolution calls Crockett's comments about Abbott "discriminatory in nature" and "the latest in a continued series of inappropriate comments expressed by the representative from Texas," according to a draft copy shared with Fox News Digital.

Fox News Digital reached out to Crockett's office for comment but did not immediately hear back.

The House voted to censure Rep. Al Green, R-Texas, last month for protesting during President Donald Trump's address to a joint session of Congress.

Before the censure could be formally read, however, Democrats derailed House proceedings by gathering around Green and singing, "We Shall Overcome."

New Canadian prime minister calls snap election to respond to Trump

New Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney and his Conservative opponent kicked off their election campaigns Sunday against the backdrop of a trade war and annexation threats from U.S. President Donald Trump.

Carney announced there will be a five-week election campaign before the vote on April 28.

The governing Liberals had appeared poised for a historic election defeat this year until Trump declared a trade war. Trump has repeatedly said that Canada should become the 51st U.S. state and he acknowledged Friday that he has upended Canadian politics.

Trump’s almost daily attacks on Canada’s sovereignty have infuriated Canadians and led to a surge in Canadian nationalism that has bolstered Liberal poll numbers.

CANADA 'RAGE ROOM' LETS VISITORS SMASH TRUMP, VANCE, MUSK PORTRAITS TO RELEASE TARIFF ANGST

"President Trump claims that Canada isn’t a real country. He wants to break us so America can own us. We will not let that happen," Carney said.

The governing Liberals had appeared poised for a historic election defeat this year until Justin Trudeau announced his resignation in January and Trump declared a trade war. Carney has said the government in a time of crisis needs a strong and clear mandate.

"The next election will be one of the most consequential in our lifetimes," he posted on social media overnight.

The election campaign for 343 seats or districts in the House of Commons will last 37 days. While other parties are running, the Liberals and the Conservatives are the only two that have a chance to form a government. The party that commands a majority in Parliament, either alone or with the support of another party, will form the next government and its leader will be prime minister.

CANADA’S NEW PM AND TRUMP CRITIC MARK CARNEY ACCUSED OF BEING OUT OF TOUCH WITH THE 'COMMON MAN’

Carney replaced Trudeau, who announced his resignation in January but remained in power until the Liberal Party elected a new leader on March 9 following a leadership race by the governing party.

The opposition Conservatives hoped to make the election about Trudeau, whose popularity declined as food and housing prices rose and immigration surged. But after decades of bilateral stability, the vote is now expected to focus on who is best equipped to deal with Trump.

Trump put 25% tariffs on Canada’s steel and aluminum and is threatening sweeping tariffs on all Canadian products — as well as all of America’s trading partners — on April 2.

Pierre Poilievre, the leader of the Conservatives, is Carney’s main challenger. The party and Poilievre were heading for a huge victory in Canada’s federal election this year until Trump’s near-daily trade and annexation threats derailed them.

CANADIAN POLITICIAN CLAIMS TRUMP ADMIN'S '51ST STATE' RHETORIC IS AN 'ACT OF WAR'

Poilievre said he will stand up to Trump but Alberta Premier Danielle Smith, a conservative ally, said in an interview Poilievre would be "very much in sync" with the "new direction in America."

"I will insist the president recognizes the independence and sovereignty of Canada. I will insist he stops tariffing our nation," Poilievre said as he launched his campaign.

Poilievre said he doesn't respect "the treatment that he has meted out to our country."

"I know a lot of people are worried, angry and anxious. And with good reason as a result of the president’s unacceptable threats against our country," he said.

"You are worried about your job and the sovereignty of our nation. And you are angry at the feeling of betrayal that these unacceptable words and tariffs have made us all experience. I share your anger and I share the worry about our future."

Carney still hasn’t had a phone call with Trump and that might not happen now until after the election. Trump mocked Trudeau by calling him governor, but he has not yet mentioned Carney’s name.

Carney, 60, was the head of the Bank of Canada during the 2008 financial crisis. In 2013, he became the first noncitizen of the United Kingdom to run the Bank of England — helping to manage the impact of Brexit.

Poilievre, 45, for years the party’s go-to attack dog, is a career politician and firebrand populist who says he will put "Canada first." He vows to defund Canada’s public broadcaster and he won’t allow media onboard his campaign buses and planes.

'Impractical Jokers' star Joe Gatto denies sexual assault allegation, admits 'poor judgment'

Former "Impractical Jokers" star Joe Gatto has responded to an alleged sexual assault claim made by a TikTok user.

"I have used poor judgment and as a result have violated the trust of the people I love most," Gatto – who separated from his wife, Bessy, in 2021 but reconciled in 2023 – said in a statement to Fox News Digital. "But anyone who knows me at all knows full well that I wouldn’t assault anyone. Working on myself is an ongoing process, and I am now going to take some time away from the public eye to focus my energies where I need to."

In a series of videos uploaded to TikTok on March 20, a user by the name joozyb alleged that she was "sexually assaulted by Joe Gatto, the Impractical Joker."

IMPRACTICAL JOKERS' JOE GATTO ANNOUNCES DEPARTURE FROM SHOW, CITES PERSONAL LIFE 'ISSUES'

The user, who was allegedly 19 years old at the time, detailed how she met the comedian while he was performing in Wisconsin in September 2023. The two allegedly began private messaging via Instagram.

"I was drunk, whatever, and he was texting me all this stuff. And, like, it was starting to get a little weird, you know," she claimed in one video, which was paired with various screenshots of alleged messages between the two.

Eventually, she claimed, Gatto allegedly invited her to his hotel room where "some stuff happened."

"I've been wanting to tell people this for so long. I've like, tried in different ways, but it's hard with somebody this big, [I] come to the realization that if I do say something, that I'm really saying something."

In a disturbing photo she uploaded to TikTok, she wrote, "Yes he did S.A me. yes he had JUST gotten back together with his wife. I’m sorry you guys don’t want to hear it but…"

In 2022, Gatto announced his departure from "Impractical Jokers."

"Alongside my friends, I’ve devoted a decade of my life to building this franchise and couldn’t be prouder of what has been accomplished. However, due to some issues in my personal life, I have to step away," Gatto wrote, then mentioning his wife of eight years. "Bessy and I have decided to amicably part ways, so now I need to focus on being the best father and co-parent to our two incredible kids."

He said outside his family, the relationships with his co-stars and longtime friends James S. Murray, Brian "Q" Quinn and Sal Vulcano "have been the most important in my life." The four friends since high school, who originally formed a comedy troupe called The Tenderloins, eventually became known as the Impractical Jokers for their hidden camera television show started in 2011 for TruTV.

"I know they will continue to make the world laugh," Gatto said. "And even though the four of us are the ones who you all see, this show is only possible due to the hard work of the talented crew members who work behind the scenes. I am very thankful to have worked with each and every one of them."

In his goodbye post, Gatto continued, "To all of the amazing fans, thank you for allowing me to make you laugh with Jokers. They say that laughter is the best medicine, and I hope I’ve been able to provide some of that over the last decade. Seeing you laugh has been my own medicine, particularly in these weird and difficult times we find ourselves. As I work through the challenges I am facing, I hope to and am excited to create new ways to entertain you."

Bill Maher calls out Elon Musk, DOGE for not taking 'chainsaw' to defense spending

"Real Time" host Bill Maher closed his show Friday night by calling out Elon Musk and DOGE for not taking a chainsaw to find massive cuts in military spending.

Maher began by playing a clip of President Donald Trump, who suggested last month his administration would find "hundreds of billions of dollars of fraud and abuse" in the military, juxtaposing those comments to the Department of Defense's announcement this week of cutting $580 million from its $900 billion budget, far below the figures Trump floated.

"When they were talking about shrinking the government, I said, ‘Yeah, great, but the acid test will be if they go after the biggest bloat of all: obsolete weapons programs," Maher explained. The HBO host then quoted from Musk's X postings last November when he said, "Please, in the name of all that is holy, let us stop the worst military value for money in history that is the F-35 program."

"Exactly your X-cellence," Maher quipped.

BILL MAHER REVEALS HE'S GOING TO MEET TRUMP AT THE WHITE HOUSE

"But today, Trump announced we're building a new fighter jet, the F-47… So what happened to fighter jets being obsolete in the age of drones," Maher jabbed the tech billionaire. He added, "Because I feel like you guys are purposefully avoiding the elephant in the room. Meet the new boss, same as the old boss, the two trillion in waste that you originally said you could cut. Yeah, you're not going to get there by firing mailmen and the guy who tells you to not lean over the rail at the Grand Canyon."

The HBO host called out DOGE's "$35 billion" in savings so far but has left the "fattest target to hunt" "unmolested across the Potomac at the Pentagon, a place Eisenhower warned us was out of control in 19-f---ing-61!"

He then cited the $6.8 trillion in the 2024 federal budget and had a pie chart showing defense spending made up 47% of the $1.8 trillion in discretionary spending, with every other department in single digits.

"You mean there's barely a penny of waste in this half?" Maher pointed to the 47%. "I may not know how to code like Elon's nerd brigade, but I could read a f---ing pie chart."

Fox News Digital reached out to representatives of Elon Musk for comment.

BILL MAHER SAYS TRUMP ADMIN DOESN'T HAVE A LEG TO STAND ON REGARDING FREE SPEECH AFTER MAHMOUD KHALIL ARREST

"It's amazing. The right and the left in this country despise each other, but they do agree on two things. One, keep an eye on the Jews because they're always up to something," Maher quipped. "And two, the defense budget is always perfect, like the Virgin Mary. In fact, it's always okay if it gets bigger. It's like a fat Virgin Mary."

Maher went on to show that U.S. defense spending is "higher than the next nine countries combined" and cited a 2017 Pentagon study acknowledging it had "19%" more bases globally than it needs.

"Wouldn't it be ‘efficient’ to close some of those, the 750 bases in 80 countries we have around the world? We need every one? No place to fire up the old chainsaw there?" Maher asked. "The Air Force has 51 golf courses. The Marines have ten. Guam has two. Nothing? No vroom, vroom for that?"

CLICK HERE FOR THE LATEST MEDIA AND CULTURE NEWS

He also took aim at the Department of Homeland Security, which he called the dictionary definition of "bloated bureaucracy" and a "Frankenstein monster born in the panic after 9/11."

"So far, DOGE has cut 50 million out of its $170 billion budget. You know, every other part of government has to tighten its belt. How about the part that makes me take mine off at the airport?" Maher said. "It's been over 20 years of this bulls---. We started doing it before there were smartphones or AI. I'm guessing there's a better way to keep this safe than everybody undressing in public."

"No one thinks you need your picture taken to fly from Tulsa to Spokane. It's not 9/11 anymore. It's 2025. And I'm not afraid of hijackers. I'm afraid of the plane," he added.

Trump flips script on reporter questioning administration's authority to deport illegals

President Donald Trump on Friday pushed back against a reporter's question in the Oval Office by asking whether former President Joe Biden had the legal standing to allow a high number of migrants into the United States during the previous administration.

The Trump administration continues in its efforts toward mass deportations, including with recent Immigration and Customs and Enforcement raids, and migrant crossings plummeted in February to their lowest tracked level in decades.

"Do you think you have the authority, the power to round up people, deport them and then you're under no obligation to a court to show the evidence against them?" a reporter asked the president.

PUERTO RICO NO LONGER SAFE BET FOR ILLEGAL MIGRANTS AS TRUMP CRACKDOWN EXPANDS TO US TERRITORY

"That's what the law says, and that's what our country needs because … unfortunately, they allowed millions of people to come into our country. Totally unvetted, totally unchecked," Trump said, referring to the Biden administration.

"So you ought to ask, 'Did he have the authority to allow millions of people?' Did Biden have the authority to do something that's unthinkable, have open borders where millions of people poured into our country, totally unvetted and totally unchecked, just as you would say. And many of those people were criminals," the president added.

"Many of them were from jails and prisons and mental institutions and gang members and drug dealers and very dangerous people. Many were murderers. We have 11,088 that we know of murderers. They murdered of that number. At least half killed more than one person.

HEARING SET FOR TRUMP ADMINISTRATION OVER FEDERAL JUDGE’S BLOCK OF DEPORTATION FLIGHTS

"So, when you asked me if we have the authority, did Biden have the authority to allow millions of people to come into our country? Many of these people are hardened criminals at the top of the line who have caused tremendous damage," the president added.

The administration is facing legal action over using the Alien Enemies Act against suspected members of the Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua, which Trump designated a foreign terrorist organization. The American Civil Liberties Union argues it is an "unlawful and unprecedented invocation of the act," according to its website.

IMMIGRATION IS DRIVING TRUMP'S POPULARITY, SAYS MATTHEW CONTINETTI

The action is leading to a tense discussion over the relationship between federal judges and the administration after U.S. District Court Judge for the District of Columbia James Boasberg temporarily blocked the use of the act, but the court battle continues Friday.

"What the ACLU is seeking in this case is unprecedented — that a single unelected judge take upon himself the authority to micromanage the national defense of our nation. This would be a complete corruption of the principle of separation of powers, which is a bedrock feature of our Republic enshrined in the Constitution," America First Legal Senior Counsel James Rogers said in a statement Friday, according to a news release on AFL's brief in the case.

During the Biden administration, there were millions of migrant encounters along the border. Since Trump took office, the Department of Homeland Security swapped out the CBP One app, which people crossing could use to attempt to get asylum in the United States. The CBP Home app is meant for self-deportation.

Mariah Carey didn't steal lyrics for hit song 'All I Want For Christmas Is You,' judge rules

Mariah Carey won big Wednesday after she was accused of copying lyrics for her hit "All I Want For Christmas Is You."

Judge Mónica Ramírez Almadani granted Carey's motion for summary judgment before the case made it to trial, Fox News Digital can confirm.

Carey had been battling over her hit Christmas song after songwriters accused the R&B pop singer of stealing the lyrics in a complaint first filed in 2023.

MARIAH CAREY FACING $20M LAWSUIT OVER ‘ALL I WANT FOR CHRISTMAS IS YOU’

Andy Stone, the lead vocalist of Vince Vance and the Valiants, co-wrote his song – also titled "All I Want for Christmas is You" – in 1989. Stone accused Carey and her team of copying his song's "compositional structure," according to the complaint obtained by Fox News Digital.

Carey "directly" copied lyrics from Stone's 1989 hit, and "approximately 50%" of the song is copyright infringement, the court documents stated.

MARIAH CAREY'S ‘QUEEN OF CHRISTMAS’ REIGN ALMOST DIDN'T HAPPEN

Stone had claimed that Carey and her team "undoubtedly" had access to his version of "All I Want for Christmas is You" due to its "wide commercial and cultural success." Stone's song charted on Billboard for years, and his band performed the song during an appearance at the White House in the spring of 1994 – the same year Carey's song was released.

The White House performance put Vince Vance and the Valiants' song back on the Billboard Hot Country Chart in 1994, according to the court docs.

"Carey has capitalized on the success of her infringing work," Stone's complaint alleged. "'All I Want for Christmas is You' has become a ubiquitous part of popular culture, and Carey's name has become synonymous with the season."

After hearing from two experts for each side, Ramírez Almadani agreed with those from the defense, who said the writers employed common Christmas clichés that existed prior to both songs, and that Carey's song used them differently. She said the plaintiffs had not met the burden of showing that the songs are substantially similar.

The judge also ordered sanctions against Stone and Powers, claiming the plaintiffs had filed a frivolous lawsuit and "made no reasonable effort to ensure that the factual contentions asserted have evidentiary support." They will also have to pay part of Carey's legal fees.

Fox News Digital reached out to representatives for Carey for comment.

Stone's lawyer, Gerard P. Fox, said he was "disappointed" with the outcome in an email to the Associated Press.

Fox claimed that judges at this level "nearly always now dismiss a music copyright case and that one must appeal to reverse and get the case to the jury. My client will make a decision shortly on whether to appeal. We filed based on the opinions of two esteemed musicologists who teach at great colleges."

The Associated Press contributed to this report.

Scottie Scheffler implores media to 'go ask' LIV players why golf is 'not back together'

It has been a rather long waiting game since the PGA Tour and LIV Golf announced their intention to join forces.

That shock announcement came on June 6, 2023, but by almost all accounts, no deal is imminent.

Rory McIlroy recently seemed to imply that it's on those who defected to get a deal done, saying that "it takes two to tango."

Reigning Masters champion Scottie Scheffler shared a similar sentiment earlier this week.

"I wish some of those guys had stayed, but at the end of the day, they made their choice. They knew the consequences of that decision, and I’m not here to change their minds. I hold no ill will toward any of those guys that left," Scheffler said.

"They did what they wanted to do, and I can’t control their life. I’m not going to sit here and say they should have done something differently. They made their choice. If we want to figure out why the game of golf is not back together, go ask those guys. Go to wherever they are playing this week and figure out when the game is going to come back together."

PGA Tour commissioner Jay Monahan recently called President Donald Trump "the facilitator" in the ongoing discussions between the two sides.

Last month, the Tour credited Trump for "[getting] involved for the good of the game," and it appears there has been movement since he got involved.

"Those talks are real. They’re substantial, and they’re being driven at the top levels of both organizations. Those talks have been significantly bolstered by President Trump’s willingness to serve as the facilitator," Monahan said earlier this month. "President Trump is a lifelong golf fan. He believes strongly in the game’s power and potential, and he has been exceedingly generous in his time and influence to help bring a deal together. He wants to see the game reunified. We want to see the game reunified, and his involvement has made the prospect of reunification very real."

Monahan added, "We believe there’s room to integrate important aspects of LIV Golf into the PGA Tour platform," and he could envision "a future" in which Public Investment Fund governor Yasir Al-Rumayyan can join the Tour's board.

Trump last month expressed optimism the two sides will get some type of deal done.

"They’re gonna have to get together," he said. "They’ve had a lot of discussion back and forth. They both are meaning well, and a deal will ultimately happen. I think it will happen pretty quickly. It would be nice to see the best golfers play against each other."

Trump admin guts Institute of Peace of ‘rogue bureaucrats’ after DOGE standoff in government office

The Trump administration gutted the Institute of Peace of "rogue bureaucrats" who held a tense standoff with a Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) team Monday that required police intervention, according to the White House.

"Rogue bureaucrats will not be allowed to hold agencies hostage," White House spokeswoman Anna Kelly told Fox News Digital Tuesday. "The Trump administration will enforce the president’s executive authority and ensure his agencies remain accountable to the American people."

The Institute of Peace is an independent, national institution funded by Congress that was established in 1984 under the Reagan administration to promote peace and diplomacy on the international stage.

President Donald Trump signed an executive order in February regarding reducing the "scope of federal bureaucracy," which included specifically targeting the size of the Institute of Peace, as well as other government programs, such as the U.S. African Development Foundation and the Inter-American Foundation. That executive order followed one on Jan. 20 that established DOGE and directed agency leaders to establish their own DOGE teams within their respective agencies as part of the administration's work to slim down the federal government.

WHITE HOUSE UNLEASHES ON 'ROGUE BUREAUCRATS' AFTER AGENCY HEAD REFUSES DOGE ENTRY TO HEADQUARTERS

The Institute of Peace, however, did not comply with the February executive order to reduce its size to the statutory minimum, leading to the Trump administration to fire 11 of its 14 board members last week, Fox Digital learned.

"President Trump signed an executive order to reduce USIP to its statutory minimum," Kelly said. "After noncompliance, 11 board members were lawfully removed, and remaining board members appointed Kenneth Jackson acting president."

The remaining board members include Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth and National Defense University President Peter Garvin, who on Friday fired acting president and CEO of the institute, George Moose.

THE UNELECTED POWER IS THE ROGUE BUREAUCRACY, STEPHEN MILLER SAYS

Moose is a Clinton-era diplomat who served as assistant secretary of state for African affairs during the Rwandan genocide in 1994. The board replaced Moose with Kenneth Jackson, a State Department official, as acting president.

Jackson attempted to enter the Institute of Peace's building in Washington, D.C., over the weekend, but was denied access by employees of the institute, an administration official told Fox News Digital.

The standoff hit a fever pitch Monday when Jackson and the DOGE team attempted again to gain entry to the building, while Moose, who already had been fired, accused them of breaking into the building and vowed to file a lawsuit. An administration official told Fox Digital that Moose "basically barricaded himself" in his former office after he was fired.

"Our statute is very clear about the status of this building and this institute," Moose told reporters Monday, according to the New York Times. "So what has happened here today is an illegal takeover by elements of the executive branch of a private nonprofit corporation."

Jackson and the DOGE team held conversations with local police Monday, Fox Digital learned, as they worked to gain entry to the building. The Metropolitan Police Department reported that they received a call from the United States Attorney’s Office at about 4 p.m. that day regarding an ongoing incident at the institute, and reported to the scene.

"MPD members met with the acting USIP President, and he provided the MPD members with documentation that he was the acting USIP President, with all powers delegated by the USIP Board of Directors to that role," the police department said in a news release of Monday's incident. "The acting USIP President advised MPD members that there were unauthorized individuals inside of the building that were refusing to leave and refusing to provide him access to the facility."

TRUMP ORDERS THE DISMANTLING OF GOVERNMENT-FUNDED, 'PROPAGANDA'-PEDDLING MEDIA OUTLET

"MPD members went to the USIP building and contacted an individual who allowed MPD members inside of the building," the release stated. "Once inside of the building, the acting USIP President requested that all the unauthorized individuals inside of the building leave."

Jackson was able to enter the building upon police intervention. Moose left the building without incident and no arrests were made, police said.

"Mr. Moose denied lawful access to Kenneth Jackson, the Acting USIP President (as approved by the USIP Board) @DCPoliceDept arrived onsite and escorted Mr. Jackson into the building. The only unlawful individual was Mr. Moose, who refused to comply, and even tried to fire USIP’s private security team when said security team went to give access to Mr. Jackson," DOGE's X account said of the incident Monday.

MUSK AND DOGE HAVE ANOTHER PERFECT TARGET: MORE TAXPAYER-FUNDED, ANTI-AMERICAN MEDIA

An administration official told Fox Digital that the incident is a prime example of "rogue bureaucrats who have been (in government) for years and decades, who want to basically continue to dole out tax dollars unilaterally, with no oversight."

The Institute of Peace filed a lawsuit against the Trump administration Tuesday in the D.C. District Court, calling for "the immediate intervention of this Court to stop Defendants from completing the unlawful dismantling of the Institute and irreparably impairing Plaintiffs’ ability to perform their vital peace promotion and conflict resolution work as tasked by Congress."

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said during Wednesday’s news conference that staffers physically barricaded themselves in the building.

"There was a concerted effort amongst the rogue bureaucrats at the United States Institute of Peace to actually physically barricade themselves essentially inside of the building to prevent political appointees of this administration who work at the direction of the president of the United States to get into the building," she said.

"They barricaded the doors. They also disabled telephone lines, internet connections and other IT infrastructure within the building. They distributed fliers internally, encouraging each other to basically prevent these individuals from accessing the building," Leavitt continued. "It's a resistance from bureaucrats who don't want to see change in this city. President Trump was elected on an overwhelming mandate to seek change and implement change. And this is unacceptable behavior."

The standoff follows other "rogue bureaucrats" at the U.S. African Development Foundation who barred another DOGE team and the acting head of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) Peter Marocco from gaining entry to that building March 12.

WHITE HOUSE SAYS FEDERALLY FUNDED NEWS SERVICE 'SPENDS YOUR MONEY TO PROMOTE FOREIGN PROPAGANDA'

The DOGE team returned to USADF the next day accompanied by U.S. Marshals after the Department of Justice determined that they had a right to enter the building, a White House official told Fox News Digital at the time. USADF is an independent government agency established in 1980 by Congress to support "African-owned and African-led enterprises," according to its website.

USADF President Ward Brehm, who was fired by the administration last week, subsequently filed a lawsuit against the Trump administration, asking a district court to bar the administration from removing him from his position. A federal judge denied Brehm's request. Marocco was named as acting chairman of USADF's board.

Pope Francis seen for first time since being admitted to hospital: photo

The Vatican released a photo of Pope Francis observing Mass on Sunday, highlighting how his health has gradually improved over recent days.

The photograph is the first picture of Pope Francis that has been released since he was admitted to Gemelli Hospital on Feb. 14. The photo shows him sitting near an altar with his back facing the camera.

Pope Francis was diagnosed with a complex viral, bacterial and fungal respiratory tract infection that worsened before improving earlier last week. At the worst of his health condition, he battled renal failure and the onset of pneumonia in both lungs.

The 88-year-old suffers from chronic lung disease and had part of one lung removed when he was younger, making his recovery difficult. Since then, he has been able to eat solid food and continues receiving high-flow supplemental oxygen.

POPE FRANCIS' MEDICAL CONDITION: WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT BILATERAL PNEUMONIA

On Monday, the Vatican said that he was "out of danger from death" and that the "clinical conditions of the Holy Father continue to be stable." On Saturday, the Vatican confirmed that his condition remained stable.

"The Holy Father still needs hospital medical therapy, motor and respiratory physiotherapy," the Saturday bulletin said, noting that these therapies show "gradual improvements."

POPE FRANCIS SUFFERING FROM 'MILD RENAL INSUFFICIENCY,' THOUGH CONDITION REMAINS 'UNDER CONTROL,' VATICAN SAYS

Though Sunday's photograph is the first time the world has seen Pope Francis since Feb. 14, many "heard" from him earlier this month. On Mar. 6, Pope Francis recorded a short, two-line message in Spanish thanking his well-wishers around the world, marking the first time his voice was heard since his hospitalization.

"I thank you from the bottom of my heart for your prayers for my health from the Square," he said in a message that was translated from Spanish to English. "I accompany you from here."

"May God bless you and the Virgin protect you. Thank you."

NEWT GINGRICH: The Trump-Johnson-Thune budget victory

The passage of the continuing resolution to keep the government open was a remarkable example of the revolutionary movement through which we are living.

Traditionally, a continuing resolution requires a bipartisan agreement to get through the Senate.

Republican leaders meet with Democratic leaders to discuss it. And the continuing resolution becomes far more expensive – and gains a lot more ideological language.

SHUTDOWN AVERTED AFTER SCHUMER CAVES AND BACKS TRUMP SPENDING BILL

After the 2024 election, many supposed experts said that President Donald Trump would have a hard time getting legislation through the extraordinarily narrow House Republican majority – or past the Senate’s 60-vote threshold.

The House Republicans have been in turmoil for a decade. Speaker John Boehner retired early in October 2015. His successor, Speaker Paul Ryan announced he would not run again in the middle of 2018. There was a 40-seat defeat in that mid-term election. Then Speaker Kevin McCarthy worked for four years to regrow a Republican majority, but a small, embittered faction simply made his speakership unsustainable. It took 15 ballots for McCarthy to win the Speakership. Then, he was forced out by the same embittered dissidents on Oct. 3, 2023.

Finally, Speaker Mike Johnson emerged as the consensus candidate for Speaker after three high-profile members failed to win 218 votes. Since Johnson had not been in leadership, it represented an enormous jump in responsibility. This led many to believe he would not be able to control the office, which had ultimately forced out Boehner, Ryan, and McCarthy.

Speaker Johnson has turned out to be far more successful – and a lot more strategic – than anyone expected. He also decided early that he could only be effective as President Trump’s ally.

Senate Majority Leader John Thune was a House veteran who has served 20 years in the Senate. At 64, he is a generation younger than former Leader Mitch McConnell. Thune has proven to be a good partner for President Trump and Speaker Johnson. The three have worked hard to get on the same page and to work together to get things done.

If you had told any so-called expert on Jan. 20 that Republicans could get a seven-month continuing resolution to keep the government open for the rest of the fiscal year through the House with only Republican votes, he or she probably would not have believed you. If you had then told them the bill would be difficult for Senate Democrats to undermine, they would have thought you were dreaming. Finally, if you told them that Speaker Johnson, President Trump, and Majority Leader Thune would out-maneuver the Democrats and give them no choice but to pass the continuing resolution or close the government, the experts would have dismissed you out of hand.

Yet, with help from Office of Management and Budget Director Russ Vought, President Trump executed what would have been called in chess a fork.

A fork is a setting where your opponent has two chess pieces at risk. Both cannot be saved. The only choice is which one to sacrifice.

The continuing resolution coming out of the House was entirely Republican. It cut spending. It shifted spending from domestic policies Republicans opposed to into immigration enforcement and defense. More importantly, it rewrote current law to give President Trump and Elon Musk greater flexibility to cut spending and waste.

The Democrats were furious that they were being cut out of the process. They were desperate to defeat the Republican effort, so they could then offer to work with them and develop a much more liberal and anti-change bill.

When the Democrats failed to stop Speaker Johnson, they had only two choices. Both were painful.

They could all vote no. If the Senate Democrats did this, the Republicans would not be able to get past the filibuster, and so the government would shut down. In this case, standing up to President Trump might have been a political victory for their base. But it wouldn’t play well with the rest of the country.

CLICK HERE FOR MORE FOX NEWS OPINION

Then the Democrats realized President Trump could cut more programs and reshape the bureaucracy even more under a shutdown scenario than he could if they passed the bill, which they thought already granted him too much power.

So, the choice for the Democrats became to pass a bill that gave President Trump more authority to cut government – or stop the bill and give him even more authority.

President Trump, Speaker Johnson, and Majority Leader Thune played this round brilliantly and won a huge victory.

They also proved that they could pass tax cuts, deregulation, and the other priorities on which President Trump and the Republicans campaigned on in 2024.

This was a big victory with huge implications for the future.

'Corruption in broad daylight': Dems outraged by Trump 'playing car salesman' for Tesla

The social media reactions are pouring in after President Donald Trump took the driver's seat to support Elon Musk. Tesla's stock rebounded Tuesday after facing a steep decline to start the week amid the ongoing protests at Tesla showrooms across the country.

While Tesla stocks rose, Democrats looked down at Trump's latest charade – accusing him of running a Tesla ad at the White House

"I’m sure all the people losing their retirement, jobs, and health care because of Trump are glad to see the White House turned into a car dealership for the richest man on the planet," DNC Chair Ken Martin said in an X post.

Fox News' Peter Doocy asked Trump about his message to Americans who are facing financial uncertainty and worried about their retirement accounts while the president was buying a new Tesla. Trump told Doocy he had to order foreign tariffs to boost the American economy.

TESLA REBOUNDS AFTER TRUMP DEFENDS MUSK, BRINGS EVS TO WHITE HOUSE

"Well, I think they're going to do great. I think our country had to do this. We had to go and do this. They've taken away – other countries have taken away our business. They have taken away our jobs," Trump replied. "This economy, in my opinion, is going to blow it away."

TRUMP BUYS RED TESLA MODEL S AT WHITE HOUSE ALONGSIDE ELON MUSK: 'I LIKE SIGNING A CHECK!'

"I have to do this. I have to get the workers back. I have to get the factories open. We have 90,000 factories and plants are closed… We're taking it back. We're taking our jobs back," Trump added.

Democrats, including Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., were quick to oppose Trump's Tesla photo op. "Grocery prices are soaring. Housing costs are skyrocketing. Retirement savings are plummeting. But Donald Trump thought today would be a good day to play car salesman," Warren said in a post.

"Elon Musk just used taxpayer money to host a car sale at the White House after cutting funding for schools and preparing to fire 80,000 VA workers," the Democratic National Committee (DNC) posted.

"Earlier today, while hard-working Americans were watching their retirement savings plummet, President Trump was filming a Tesla ad in front of the White House to help Elon Musk's failing stock. This is a brazen conflict of interest and corruption in broad daylight," Democrats on the House Committee on Financial Services said.

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) posted a photo of Musk and Trump standing by the president's new red Tesla, calling them the "most corrupt administration in American history."

"While Republicans were voting to take health care away from families and veterans, Donald Trump hosted a Tesla car show at the White House for his biggest donor. Peak corruption," House Whip Rep. Katherine Clark, D-Mass., said.

An image of Trump holding handwritten notes about the Tesla cars earned the ire of Democrats on social media. President Joe Biden was often mocked during his term for relying on note cards during press conferences and other public events.

"After mocking President Biden for using note cards, Trump got caught red-handed today – holding his own notes on what to say about buying a Tesla, a car he clearly knows nothing about. So, is the media gonna make a big deal out of this? Or nah?" Democratic political strategist Chris D. Jackson posted on X.

But Trump admitted he didn't "need notes," making a jab at his predecessor.

"Do you want my notes? They gave me notes. I'm not Biden. I don't need notes," Trump told reporters before hopping in the driver seat of his new Tesla Model S. "You think Biden could get into that car? I don't think so," Trump added.

Despite the criticism from the left, Musk is taking a victory lap. Musk posted a side-by-side photo of Biden snubbing Tesla at his electric vehicle summit in 2021 next to a photo of the Teslas parked in front of the White House on Tuesday.

Despite Tesla's status as the leading manufacturer of electric vehicles in the United States, they were not invited to the White House event in 2021. White House press secretary Jen Psaki explained to reporters those invited were the "three largest employers of the United Auto Workers, so I'll let you draw your own conclusions."

Musk reposted a clip of CNN contributor Scott Jennings defending him to Abby Phillip on "CNN NewsNight."

"There’s a video of Joe Biden driving a Jeep around the South Lawn… It's pretty common for the president to boost American industries… He obviously has a close relationship with Elon, who, by the way, is, I think, unfairly under attack and this company is unfairly under attack. You have these insane people all over the country chasing people down in their Teslas in New York City. I had a friend who tried to trade his Tesla in New York the other day, and there were protesters screaming at his children."

Conservatives on social media were quick to defend Trump's Tesla purchase on Tuesday, reminding liberals that Biden drove a hybrid Jeep Wrangler 4xe around the White House grounds to promote his EV initiative.

"I don't remember you being a Karen when Biden was a car salesman for Jeep," co-owner of Trending Politics Collin Rugg replied to Warren's post.

"Teslas are the #1 most American-made cars. Unlike GM, Ford, and Stellantis, every Tesla sold in America is built in America by American workers. Tesla's Fremont factory in California is the single most productive auto plant in North America," EV journalist Sawyer Merritt said in a post.

"I’m going to buy a brand new Tesla tomorrow morning as a show of confidence and support for Elon Musk, a truly great American," Trump announced late Monday night.

TRUMP SAYS HE WILL BUY A TESLA TO SUPPORT ELON MUSK AND HIS 'BABY'

"To Republicans, Conservatives, and all great Americans, Elon Musk is ‘putting it on the line’ in order to help our Nation, and he is doing a FANTASTIC JOB! But the Radical Left Lunatics, as they often do, are trying to illegally and collusively boycott Tesla, one of the World’s great automakers, and Elon’s 'baby,' in order to attack and do harm to Elon, and everything he stands for," Trump said on Truth Social.

Trump's show of support for Musk comes on the heels of protests at Tesla showrooms across the country that have escalated to several instances of vandalism. The demonstrations began as protests against Elon Musk's leadership of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) which has led to massive federal workforce reductions and unveiled wasteful government spending.

"It's really terrible that there's so much violence being perpetrated against people at Tesla, Tesla supporters, Tesla owners, Tesla stores. These are innocent people who have done nothing wrong," Musk told reporters on Tuesday.

"Elon Musk is being attacked, and his companies are being targeted because he is fighting to put Americans first," Sen. Marsha Blackburn, R-Tenn., defended Musk in a post.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., and fellow Republican House members have called for investigations into the numerous vandalism cases against Tesla vehicles and charging stations across the country. Trump labeled the Tesla attacks "domestic terrorism."

American Airlines flight turned around after passenger allegedly attacked crew member, swallowed rosary beads

A Florida-bound flight had to turn around to Georgia on Monday evening after a passenger attacked two flight attendants, and his travel companion sister justified his actions by saying, "He hurts evil."

Delange Augustin, 31, faces a charge of interference with flight crew members, according to an affidavit supporting a criminal complaint filed in Georgia federal court. He and his sister were aboard American Eagle flight 4162, operated by Envoy, from Savannah to Miami that had "approximately eight passengers and five crew members."

Less than a minute after takeoff, a flight attendant believed Augustin was having a medical emergency due to witnesses noting "stomping, incoherent yelling and shaking," according to the court filing. When Augustin was approached, he allegedly "turned in his seat, lifted his legs and kicked" a flight attendant "in the chest."

When the pilots heard what was happening from the closed cockpit, the decision was made to turn the flight around back to Savannah.

5 UNITED PASSENGERS INJURED IN SEVERE TURBULENCE

Augustin allegedly then punched and kicked the seat of the passenger in front of him. After the passenger moved seats, Augustin's "continued kicking collapsed the chair," according to the affidavit.

The investigating FBI special agent said Augustin briefly calmed down, until the flight landed and began taxiing to the gate.

COAST GUARD AIRLIFTS CRUISE SHIP PASSENGER WHO HAD STROKES 300 MILES OFF HAWAII COAST

All passengers were asked to remain seated, but Augustin allegedly stormed to the front of the plane while holding onto his sister. Once in the galley of the plane, he allegedly "threw several ‘haymakers,’" striking one of the flight attendants in her upper arm.

Three passengers then pulled Augustin and his sister, identified as Medjina Augustin, to the ground until airport police were able to subdue him.

Medjina Augustin told the FBI special agent that she and her brother were going to Haiti "to flee religious attacks of a spiritual nature."

According to the affidavit, she said that the "evil comes out in the darkness," and that she "had never experienced as much darkness as was on the plane that evening." As a result, she said according to the filing, "[s]he was not surprised" that her brother "had hurt anyone because he hurts evil." The affidavit says she recalled how her brother told her to close her eyes on the plane "because Satan’s disciple(s) had followed them onto the plane and the legion did not want the Augustins to make it to Haiti."

The filing says that Augustin also swallowed rosary beads, and was taken to a hospital for evaluation before being sent to the Chatham County Detention Center. Augustin's sister, the affidavit states, said he swallowed the beads "because they are a weapon of strength in the spiritual warfare," adding that he was "not suffering from any medical or mental health issue or impairment."

"Safety and security are our top priorities," American Airlines said in a statement to Fox News Digital. "We appreciate the professionalism of the entire crew and thank our passengers for their understanding."

DAVID MARCUS: Calling Rep. Sarah McBride ‘mister’ isn’t impolite, it's just reality

Chaos erupted in Congress Tuesday, when a Republican "misgendered" a fellow House member. But maybe it was really just a case of a politician doing the unthinkable: telling the truth.

Rep. Keith Self, R-Texas, who chairs the House Foreign Affairs Committee's Europe Subcommittee, referred to trans Rep. Sarah McBride, D-Del., as "Mister McBride," causing a heated exchange that brought the hearing to a crashing halt. Ranking Democrat Bill Keating, of Massachusetts, rode to McBride's rescue.

"Mr. Chairman, you are out of order!" Keating thundered. "Mr. Chairman, have you no decency?" he harumphed, channeling the well-worn phrase from the 1950’s McCarthy hearings. "This is not decent."

GOP LAWMAKER CALLS TRANS DEM ‘MR. MCBRIDE,’ ABRUPTLY ENDS HEARING AFTER ULTIMATUM

Now, we all understand that if we meet a trans person at a party or a ballgame, we can work around the pronouns and not be a jerk about it. But a congressional hearing is not a private event, it is the official public speech of our government. It should reflect objective reality.

In other words, Self did exactly the right thing to do in that official situation so as not to publicly sanction a delusion.

Over the past decade, since around the time orange became the new black, our society has struggled with how to show deference to those who wish to live as the gender they aren’t while pursuing public policies that protect women.

But that was always the wrong question. That kind of accommodation for the idea that human beings can transubstantiate their gender was always going to bind us in the knots we face today regarding women’s sports, or women-only spaces such as prisons, shelters and restrooms.

It is as if many Americans, including many conservatives, have been saying, "Okay, this is pretend, but we will go along with it as long as nobody gets hurt."

The problem is that the simple acceptance of the delusional position that everyone can choose their own gender hurts lots of people, not least of all children and young adults who are seduced by the almost godlike power of supposedly overcoming nature itself.

As it turns out, the following day on Capitol Hill, Independent Women Ambassador Prisha Mosley was in attendance for Detransitioners Awareness Day. At just 16, Prisha, who seemed sure she was really a boy, had a double mastectomy, which she now regrets, but cannot undo.

"It is because of adults in the room who entertained the lie that I was born in the wrong body and needed to transition that I now suffer from irreversible damage to my body," Mosley told Fox News Digital. "The truth is not transphobic. It is never loving to lie."

This happened in no small part because good, decent people who wanted to be polite have allowed the unscientific and frankly absurd notion that people can switch their genders to gain legitimacy, to at least be a matter of opinion.

It is not a matter of opinion, it has never been a matter of opinion, and it never will be a matter of opinion.

Just days ago in Calgary, I ran into a protest against the policy of putting men in women’s prisons, and we talked about how, 10 years ago, people were nervous about questioning the quasi-religious trans ideology even in private conversation. Today, reality can be proudly spoken, and should be.

The philosopher Ludwig Wittgenstein argued convincingly that language is not merely the vessel of our thoughts, it is the driver of our thoughts. Once we allow the words "man" and "woman" to mean something other than what biological reality dictates, that choice drives us to the madness and irreversible consequences we are seeing now.

Perhaps all of our efforts to accommodate the lie of transgenderism over the past decade have come from a true place of caring and kindness. But it doesn’t matter, it is hurting people badly, and it has to stop right now.

CLICK HERE FOR MORE FOX NEWS OPINION

Will the process of restoring reality on this issue lead to awkward and even volatile moments and situations like we saw in Tuesday’s congressional meltdown? Absolutely. Will those who defend truth be called bigots? Without question.

But when we hear stories like that of Prisha Mosley, and so many others whose lives were forever altered by the insidious lie of transgenderism, we know that whatever slings and arrows come our way, acceptance of the lie makes us complicit.

Somewhere right now, a young woman or man is contemplating transition, willing to risk irreversible surgery, or even their own fertility to try to become something they never can be. For their sake, we must stop pretending and firmly place our boots back on the solid ground of biological reality.

Ukraine accepts deal, says Rubio: 'We'll take this to the Russians'

Ukraine on Tuesday accepted a deal put forward by the Trump administration during a meeting in Saudi Arabia, a significant step forward in securing a ceasefire agreement and bringing an end to the war with Russia.

"We'll take this offer now to the Russians, and we hope that they'll say yes," Secretary of State Marco Rubio told reporters.

Rubio, standing alongside national security advisor Mike Waltz, did not detail exactly what was in this agreement, but according to a readout provided by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's office, Kyiv has agreed to a 30-day ceasefire contingent on Moscow's acceptance of the terms.

MARK KELLY ACCUSES TRUMP OF ‘TRYING TO WEAKEN’ UKRAINE, FIRES BACK AT ELON MUSK FOR BRANDING HIM A ‘TRAITOR’

"We hope the Russians answer to that," Rubio said. "The best goodwill gesture the Russians can provide is to say yes."

In response to Kyiv's willingness to accept Washington's hard-fought preliminary proposal, President Donald Trump agreed to lift the pause on U.S. security assistance to Ukraine "effective immediately" and renewed U.S. intelligence sharing.

Rubio said if and once Moscow agrees to this preliminary agreement, the real negotiations can commence.

"This is very serious. Today people will die in this war. They died yesterday, and sadly, unless there's a ceasefire tonight, they'll die tomorrow," Rubio said. "The president wants that to stop."

RUBIO SAYS MINERAL DEAL ‘NOT MAIN TOPIC ON AGENDA’ IN UKRAINE MEETING

"We've gone from if this war is going to end to how this war is going to end," Waltz told reporters.

Issues involving the return of children abducted by Russia and the return of prisoners of war will be addressed in the "second phase" of negotiations, the pair said.

Waltz confirmed that the Trump administration and the Ukrainian delegation discussed "substantive details" on security guarantees to ensure lasting peace between the two nations – though neither Kyiv nor Washington have yet confirmed the elements of those discussions.

"Both delegations agreed to name their negotiating teams and immediately begin negotiations toward an enduring peace that provides for Ukraine’s long-term security," the readout of the talks said. "The United States committed to discussing these specific proposals with representatives from Russia.

"The Ukrainian delegation reiterated that European partners shall be involved in the peace process," the readout added.

Rubio said a mineral deal will be discussed at a further date.

"We were here in pursuit of peace," he told reporters. "That doesn't mean the mineral deal is not very important."

Pitt student vanishes on spring break trip to Dominican Republic while walking on beach

A University of Pittsburgh student has mysteriously vanished while on a spring break holiday in the Dominican Republic, and searches are currently underway.

Sudiksha Konanki, 20, from northern Virginia, was first reported missing on Thursday in Punta Cana, according to the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office. Punta Cana is located in the east of the Caribbean island nation and is a popular tourist hot spot.

Konanki was last seen at around 4:50 a.m. on a beach at the five-star Riu Republica Resort and has not been heard from since, according to a flyer being circulated online. Local news reports say she was walking on a beach at the time.

Konanki was part of a group of six female University of Pittsburgh students traveling to the area, a spokesperson for the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office told Fox News Digital. Konanki is a citizen of India and the sheriff's office she is a permanent legal U.S. resident.

She is described as 5 feet, 3 inches tall, with black hair and brown eyes, per the flyer.

The flyer says that she was last seen wearing a brown, two-piece bikini, big round earrings, a metal designer anklet on her right leg, yellow and steel bracelets on her right hand and a multicolored beaded bracelet on her left hand.

FYRE FEST FRAUDSTER SELLING TICKETS FOR NEW PARTY BUT LOCALS CLAIM IT DOESN'T EXIST

Defensa Civil Dominicana, a Dominican Republic search and rescue force, said Saturday it had completed a full day’s search with operations scheduled to resume on Sunday.

"The Orange Search and Rescue Unit, along with other institutions, worked from early Saturday hours, trying to find the whereabouts of the young woman, Sudiksha Konanki, without success," the agency wrote in a post on Instagram.

The embassy of India in the Dominican Republic is working with the State Department and law enforcement on the ground, the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office spokesperson said.

"Our Sheriff’s Office is supporting those efforts and continuing to investigate locally," the spokesperson told Fox News Digital.

The State Department’s latest travel advisory from June 2024 advises travelers to exercise increased caution in the Dominican Republic due to crime, giving it a Level 2 warning.

"Violent crime, including armed robbery, homicide, and sexual assault, is a concern throughout the Dominican Republic," the State Department advisory reads.

It says that resorts are better policed than urban areas like Santo Domingo.

The University of Pittsburgh said it is in contact with Konanki's family as well as authorities in Loudoun County, Virginia, and have offered their full support in to find her and bring her home safely, the institution told WTAE.

Fox News Digital has reached out to the University of Pittsburgh for further comment.

Columbia ready to work with Trump to bolster disciplinary process that was 'only on paper'

Columbia University appears to be ready and willing to work with President Donald Trump and his administration. The university’s interim president. Katrina Armstrong, issued a letter on Friday in response to the Trump administration cutting $400 million in federal grants to the school. Federal agencies that severed their ties with Columbia said it was because of the Ivy League institution’s "continued inaction in the face of persistent harassment of Jewish students."

Armstrong says in her letter that the funding cuts will "immediately impact research and other critical functions," but she does not dismiss the Trump administration’s claims. Rather, Armstrong writes that the university takes the cuts "very seriously" and is prepared to work with the government on its "legitimate concerns."

TRUMP CUTS MORE THAN $400 MILLION IN GRANTS TO COLUMBIA OVER ANTISEMITISM CONCERNS, POTENTIALLY MORE TO COME

"When I accepted the role of Interim President in August 2024, I knew Columbia needed a reset from the previous year and the chaos of encampments and protests on our campus," Armstrong wrote. "The University also needed to acknowledge and repair the damage to our Jewish students, who were targeted, harassed, and made to feel unsafe or unwelcome on our campus last spring."

In a telling portion of her letter, Armstrong admits that Columbia University’s disciplinary process "previously only existed on paper," seemingly taking a jab at former Columbia President Minouche Shafik.

In August 2024, Shafik resigned after the university was rocked by months of anti-Israel protests, including a large encampment at the center of its campus and the takeover of a building.

NYPD MAKES MULTIPLE ARRESTS AT BARNARD COLLEGE AFTER ANTI-ISRAEL AGITATORS TAKE OVER LIBRARY

On Friday, the Trump administration announced it would rescind approximately $400 million in federal grants to Columbia over the school’s handling of antisemitism.

The White House later posted a tweet with the phrase "Shalom Columbia," likely a nod to a message Trump sent to Hamas earlier in the week.

The fund slashing came just a few days after the Departments of Health and Human Services (HHS), Justice (DOJ), Education (DoE) and the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) announced the initiation of a "comprehensive review" of federal grants to Columbia. The agencies cited the recently formed Joint Task Force to Combat Antisemitism’s investigation into whether Columbia violated the Civil Rights Act with its inaction on the harassment of Jewish students.

"For too long, Columbia has abandoned that obligation to Jewish students studying on its campus," Secretary of Education Linda McMahon wrote in a statement. "Today, we demonstrate to Columbia and other universities that we will not tolerate their appalling inaction any longer."

Columbia University has experienced renewed anti-Israel activity in the last few weeks. In January, students barged into an Israeli history class and distributed flyers with antisemitic and hateful rhetoric.

The students were later expelled, sparking protests at Columbia’s sister school, Barnard. Multiple protesters were arrested after they took over the Barnard College library in protest of the expulsions.

Lakers fan who hit $100,000 halfcourt shot says he will use money to pay for wedding

Los Angeles Lakers fan Mike Bell nailed the shot of a lifetime on Thursday night.

Bell hit a $100,000 half-court shot during a break in action, and plans to spend it wisely.

"We actually just got married in November and spent a good chunk of our savings on the wedding and honeymoon and such, so most of this money is going to replenish that and filling our bank accounts back up a little bit," Bell said via TMZ.

"But I’m going to treat myself to something nice, maybe a special pair of Kobe’s or something like that, something definitely to commemorate it."

Bell said, "I spent pretty much the whole third-quarter in the tunnel just kind of like getting ready for it, and so it was kind of down in the area where all the celebrities are walking through and stuff," Bell said.

NUGGETS’ NIKOLA JOKIC RECORDS NBA FIRST IN OVERTIME WIN OVER SUNS: ‘A CLASS ALL BY HIMSELF’

"I’m sitting there trying to focus on like a potentially life-changing shot, and I’ve got celebrity after celebrity walking by me. It was kind of a wild experience. I was trying not to get in my own head about it."

After Bell drilled the shot, he said he "blacked out" in celebration.

"I blacked out man, I blacked out. It’s funny, my wife has been giving me a hard time about how the PA announcer woman, she like asked me how I was feeling, and my response is ‘Go Lakers.’ Honestly, I didn’t hear her question at all, I had no idea what she asked me, and ‘Go Lakers’ just felt like a safe response to give to whatever it might be."

In celebration, Bell said he high-fived Floyd Mayweather, Spike Lee and Los Angeles Rams’ star wide receiver Puka Nacua.

Bell said his wife hasn’t asked for anything specifically, but he will get something for her with the newfound money.

"She hasn't cited anything specifically," he said. "She puts up with me staying up late watching the games and having the TV on in bed. If she asks for something, it's the least I could do."
