Joy Behar hopes to 'actually influence people's thinking' with her criticism of the Trump administration

"The View" co-host Joy Behar said she felt an obligation to speak out about President Donald Trump's administration on Wednesday and said she hoped to influence people's thinking during a "Behind the Table" discussion.

Producer Brian Teta asked Behar, who has been with the show for 26 years, what she likes about doing the ABC talk show and why she's been on it for so long.

"It's because of the freedom to speak my mind, that has always been the attraction," she responded, before talking about other parts of her career. "I like the people I work with, number one, I like everybody."

"I also feel an obligation to speak about the administration that we’re in the midst of, and I feel like we’re in a privileged position to say certain things and that we, you know, we can actually influence people’s thinking sometimes, even if it’s a little bit, that we’re in a lot of trouble in this country right now, and that I like the idea that we can say stuff that people will listen to," she said.

'THE VIEW' MELTS DOWN OVER LATEST BIDEN BOOK, SLAMS CNN FOR 'HAWKING' IT

Behar was also asked about the many political figures she's gotten to interview on the show and about why politicians come on the talk show.

"We can show them the way they are in real life, the way they really are," Behar said. "I've met Hillary Clinton many times. She's different when she's running for office, and she's all scared to make a mistake. When she's herself, she's very funny. She should have come on ‘The View’ more, I think at that time. In fact, somebody screwed her up, somebody in her campaign said, ‘don’t go on,' and it was a big mistake."

Behar said Clinton was a grandma, wife and mother and was much more than just someone who ran for office.

The co-hosts also talked about Sunny Hostin's viral question posed to former Vice President Kamala Harris last year during the 2024 campaign, as Teta joked that the liberal co-host had "single-handedly taken down the Democratic Party" when Harris' bungled answer went viral.

'THE VIEW' INSIDER SOUNDS ALARM AS DISNEY BOSS URGES HOSTS TO COOL OFF POLITICAL CHATTER

Hostin defended her question about whether Harris would have acted differently at any point during President Joe Biden's first term, saying it was one Harris should have expected. Harris memorably said she couldn't think of anything she'd have done differently than the unpopular Biden, and the soundbite became fodder for the Trump campaign that Harris was more of the same.

"I knew it instantly when she answered it," Hostin said during the podcast conversation, when asked by Teta if she knew it would be a viral moment. "Which is why I asked the follow-up question, ‘is there one thing?’ Because I knew, I could see the soundbite and I knew what was going to happen, but I thought it was a really fair question and I thought it was a question that she would expect."

Biden appeared on the show in May for one of his first interviews since leaving the White House.

The former president blamed racism and sexism for Harris' loss during the conversation.

"I wasn’t surprised, not because I didn’t think the vice president was the most qualified person to be president," Biden said. "She is. She’s qualified to be President of the United States of America. I was surprised because they went the route of, the sexist route, the whole route. I mean, this is a woman, she’s this, she’s that. I mean, I’ve never seen quite as successful and a consistent campaign undercutting the notion that a woman couldn’t lead the country, and a woman of mixed race."

Arab allies recognize Iran’s danger, lawmakers say, as region views regime change cautiously

EXCLUSIVE: Top congressional Iran hawks were about to depart for the U.S. from the Middle East on Wednesday, when two members of the delegation spoke to Fox News Digital about what they were seeing on the ground.

Rep. Zach Nunn, R-Iowa, and Rep. Jimmy Panetta, D-Calif., said they visited Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, and were in the United Arab Emirates as of Tuesday, meeting with leaders and discussing the armed conflict between Israel and Iran.

"Over the course of the last week, we have seen just a dramatic escalation, particularly by Iran threatening the region," he said, adding that he is also spearheading the Iranian Maximum Pressure Campaign Act, which comprises 47 pieces that give President Donald Trump leverage over Iranian "Supreme Leader" Ayatollah Ali Hosseini Khamenei.

Nunn, a retired colonel in the U.S. Air Force – who conducted intel-reconnaissance missions off Russia and China – said Gen. Erik "Gorilla" Kurilla has his "full support" after Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth indicated Tuesday he would defer to the CENTCOM commander on Iranian strategy.

1,500 JEWISH AMERICANS EVACUATED FROM ISRAEL AS DESANTIS SPONSORS RESCUE FLIGHTS TO TAMPA

"[Kurilla] has been very clear here that Iran needs to take the offramp from its nuclear enrichment program. In fact, he was one of the ones that highlighted here the real threat coming from a nuclear Iran, both to its neighbor Israel, and other nations across the Middle East. The United States has a very important role to play here in deterrence," he said.

Arab allies like the UAE recognize that Iran presents the greatest "existential threat" to peace in the Middle East, Nunn said, adding that as a veteran of the War on Terror, he doesn’t want to see U.S. service members return to combat in the region.

Forty thousand troops, however, are stationed in non-combat roles in the region, and are in range of Iranian weapons if Tehran escalates.

Nunn warned that the porous southern border has also opened up the likelihood that Iranian proxies are already inside the U.S., and cited reports Tehran was connected in some way to the assassination attempt on Trump in Pennsylvania.

He and Panetta, son of former CIA Director Leon Panetta, said the reason they came together in a bipartisan showing to Mideast leaders was that while they may not disagree politically on every issue, Congress is united with Mideast allies.

BILL CLINTON URGES TRUMP TO 'DEFUSE' ISRAEL-IRAN CRISIS

"There's a real opportunity here for our Arab partners and Israel to stand together in deterring Iran. The U.S. should not be the policeman for the world. There are certain capabilities that only the United States can provide in this scenario. That includes deep penetration strikes to eliminate the nuclear reactor and the enrichment program that Iran's produced. But ultimately, this is also up to the Iranian people to decide what they want for their future."

Panetta said he hopes the trip helped lay an even stronger basis for other nations to align with the Abraham Accords forged by Trump in his first term.

"The conflict between Israel and Iran broke out on Thursday, before the Friday we were to get here. And so that sort of changed a few things and unfortunately prevented us from going into Israel. However, we were able to have very substantive meetings with some of the leadership in Saudi Arabia, in Bahrain, and here in the United Arab Emirates before we have to fly out tonight," Panetta said.

"And what we heard consistently is -- none of them want a nuclear-armed Iran."

Like Nunn, Panetta also does not want boots on the ground, saying that when or if Tehran’s government falls or surrenders, as Trump wants, the change must come "from within."

Members of both parties aren’t looking to trigger regime change through force, he said, but they do want to see Tehran’s nuclear ambitions defeated.

And, when it comes to concerns about stability – after seeing Iraq and Libya falter after strongmen were ousted – it will be up to the Iranian people at that point how to proceed, the lawmakers said.

"The purpose of Israel's bombing, at least from what we've heard, was to destroy their nuclear capabilities. It was not for regime change," Panetta said.

"However, if the people see this as an opportunity, then that's something that basically, I think now more than ever, would be the right time for the people of Iran to rise up."

Given the rare bipartisan agreement on the Iran issue in an otherwise fractured political environment, the Democrat added that he will always work with anyone to support both his constituents, and whoever, including Trump, wants to have substantive discussions to solve pressing problems like Iran’s nuclear capabilities, "forever wars," and that Israel retains the right to defend itself.

"[Those] are bipartisan issues that I think we can work together on," Panetta said.

Weight-loss surgery trumps popular Ozempic treatment in shocking new comparison

Weight-loss surgery was shown to be five times more effective than weekly injections of popular GLP-1 receptor agonists, including semaglutide (such as Ozempic) and tirzepatide (such as Mounjaro).

The finding comes from a recent study presented this week at the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS) 2025 Annual Scientific Meeting in Washington.

Researchers looked at "real-world" electronic medical record data of 51,085 patients at NYU Langone Health and NYC Health + Hospitals.

HAIRSTYLISTS AND MEDICAL EXPERT CONFIRM TEMPORARY HAIR LOSS AFFECTING OZEMPIC USERS

All patients had a body mass index (BMI) of at least 35.

They had either undergone bariatric surgery (sleeve gastrectomy or Roux en-Y gastric bypass) or were prescribed injectable semaglutide or tirzepatide between 2018 and 2024.

(Sleeve gastrectomy reduces the size of the stomach to help obese patients lose weight; gastric bypass involves rerouting the digestive tract to bypass a portion of the small intestine, according to Mayo Clinic.)

Patients who had one of the bariatric surgeries had lost an average of 58 pounds two years later, while those who had taken a GLP-1 prescription medication for at least six months lost 12 pounds, the researchers found.

LOW-CALORIE DIETS LINKED TO SURPRISING MENTAL HEALTH EFFECT, NEW RESEARCH SHOWS

The surgical outcomes marked 24% total weight loss compared to 4.7% for injectable medications, according to the study press release.

Those who took the GLP-1 drug for a full year showed more weight loss (7%), but it was still less than those who had undergone one of the surgeries.

These outcomes differ from the results of clinical trials.

"Clinical trials show weight loss between 15% and 21% for GLP-1s, but this study suggests that weight loss in the real world is considerably lower even for patients who have active prescriptions for an entire year," said lead study author Avery Brown, MD, a surgical resident at NYU Langone Health, in the press release.

As many as 70% of patients with GLP-1 prescriptions may discontinue treatment within one year, according to Brown.

"GLP-1 patients may need to adjust their expectations, adhere more closely to treatment, or opt for metabolic and bariatric surgery to achieve desired results," he advised.

In future studies, the researchers plan to explore strategies for improving outcomes for patients taking GLP-1s and identifying which patients are better candidates for surgery versus injectable medications, the release stated.

The prevalence of GLP-1 drugs is higher than bariatric surgeries. Studies show that around 12% of Americans have taken a GLP-1, while 6% are currently taking them.

However, more than half of patients stop taking them after one year, and 72% abandon them after two years, research has found.

Only about 1% of patients who meet the criteria for metabolic and bariatric surgeries underwent one of those procedures in 2023, according to the ASMBS.

The study received grant funding from the National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences at the National Institutes of Health (NIH).

Novo Nordisk, maker of Ozempic and Wegovy, declined a request for comment.

Feds probing protest funding as officials drop hammer on violent LA rioters

Los Angeles officials have announced sweeping charges filed against numerous individuals accused of sparking violence as riots against immigration efforts continue to plague the sanctuary city.

In a news conference Tuesday, LA County District Attorney Nathan Hochman, U.S. Attorney Bill Essayli and California Highway Patrol Southern Division Chief Chris Margaris announced additional federal and state charges filed against numerous alleged rioters.

"This group wanted to commit crimes," Hochman said. "They looked at the protest as a cover, an opportunity to go ahead and ply their illegal trade and commit a whole variety of crimes that, in many ways, has done a huge disservice to the legitimate protesters out there."

CALIFORNIA SHERIFF SAYS NEARLY A DOZEN DEPUTIES INJURED IN ANTI-ICE RIOTS

Several arrests have stemmed from peaceful protesters reporting acts of violence, and over 45 law enforcement agencies aided in the efforts to maintain order throughout the city, Hochman said.

One of the suspects, William Rubio, has been charged with two felony counts of assault on a police officer and two felony counts of using a destructive device to injure or destroy after allegedly hurling fireworks toward law enforcement during the riots, according to Hochman.

Essayli revealed additional instances of individuals charged with federal crimes for their alleged roles in the violent riots.

PHOTOS: SEE THE ANTI-TRUMP VIOLENCE THAT HAS UNFOLDED ON LA'S STREETS ACROSS THE LAST WEEK

One of the protesters, Alejandro Orellana, was charged with conspiracy to commit civil disorder, along with aiding and abetting civil disorder, Essayli said. Prosecutors allege Orellana passed out face shields to people behaving violently.

"These face shields are designed to protect from chemical splashes and flying debris," Essayli said, "which helps protect violent agitators from less than lethal weapons deployed by law enforcement."

After the FBI executed a search warrant at Orellana’s home, authorities say they discovered a wrist rocket-style slingshot, ammunition, plastic goggles and a notebook with abbreviations for "All Cops are B—---" and "murder" that allegedly belonged to Orellana.

Each charge filed against Orellana carries a minimum sentence of five years in prison.

FBI WILL INVESTIGATE 'ANY EVIDENCE OF A CRIMINAL CONSPIRACY' IN LA RIOTS

Essayli also pointed to the arrest of Adam Charles Palermo for his alleged role in attacking CHP officers. Palermo was charged with attempted arson of a vehicle used in interstate or foreign commerce after he was allegedly caught on camera participating in the violence.

"[Palermo’s] social media account contained a collage of photographs and videos depicting a man holding flying debris, a CHP patrol car on fire, and various other damage to CHP patrol cars," Essayli said. "He wrote, ‘All of the protests I've been involved in, which is well over 100 now. I'm most proud of what I did today.’"

If convicted, Palermo could face to 20 years in prison.

"He will not be doing any protests for the next foreseeable future," Essayli said.

DOZENS OF ANTI-ICE RIOTERS ARRESTED IN LA AS TRUMP SENDS IN NATIONAL GUARD TO QUELL VIOLENCE

In addition to the numerous new charges, the IRS is looking into dozens of organizations and nonprofits’ funding of the protests as part of a long-term investigation.

"The IRS [specializes] in tracing the money and finding out where it’s coming from [and] where it’s going," Essayli said.

Since the first weekend of protests, the Los Angeles Police Department has arrested 575 people, according to a media release.

"These crimes don't advance any cause or further any message at all," LAPD Deputy Chief Alan Hamilton said. "What they do is endanger the lives of our officers [and] harm our communities, small businesses who are desperately trying to recover in a very challenging atmosphere and our civic institutions."

ICE RAMPS UP ARRESTS OF CONVICTED CRIMINALS AS RIOTS RAGE IN BLUE CITY: 'YOU WILL NOT STOP US'

On Saturday, 38 people were detained on various charges, including curfew violations, failure to disperse and resisting arrest as protests coincided with the "No Kings" demonstrations sweeping the nation. The protests were aimed at countering the U.S. Army’s 250th anniversary military parade, which took place on President Donald Trump's birthday.

The total comes as authorities look to regain control after riots kicked off in response to the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raids throughout the sanctuary city

For several nights, police clashed with protesters in the streets of downtown LA, deploying tear gas and other crowd control measures to maintain order.

"During the crowd control situation, numerous less-lethal munitions were used," the LAPD said.

Authorities have battled protesters hurling projectiles, setting fire to cars and launching fireworks at police officers in response to the ICE raids, and 10 members of law enforcement reported injuries as of Monday, according to the LAPD.

Of the most violent offenses, an illegal immigrant from Mexico was charged with attempted murder last week after authorities say he threw a Molotov cocktail during a demonstration, according to the Department of Homeland Security.

ILLEGAL ALIEN CHARGED WITH ATTEMPTED MURDER FOR THROWING MOLOTOV COCKTAIL AT OFFICERS IN LA RIOTS: DHS

"Emiliano Garduno-Galvez is a criminal illegal alien from Mexico who threatened the lives of federal law enforcement officers by attacking them with a Molotov cocktail during the violent riots in Los Angeles," DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin previously said in a statement. "ICE arrested Garduno-Galvez, and he is now being charged with attempted murder. These are the types of criminal illegal aliens that rioters are fighting to protect."

The LA District Attorney's Office did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital's request for comment.

Stanford researchers develop ‘game-changing’ stroke treatment that doubles effectiveness

Researchers at Stanford University say they have developed a more effective way to treat strokes.

The new technology, called the milli-spinner thrombectomy, has been shown to have more successful outcomes for patients who have experienced strokes, as well as heart attacks, pulmonary embolisms and other clot-related diseases, according to a press release from the university.

Blood clots are clumped together by thread-like proteins called fibrin. The milli-spinner — which is a long, hollow, rotating tube with a series of "fins and slits" — enters the body through a catheter and applies force and suction to the clot.

EXPERIMENTAL CHOLESTEROL PILL CUTS HEART ATTACK RISK WITH 'CONVENIENT' ONCE-DAILY DOSE

As a result, the blood clot is reduced in size — down to as little as 5% of its original volume — without breaking any of the fibrin threads.

That’s important because breaking up the clot can result in pieces of it escaping and getting stuck in hard-to-reach places, the researchers noted.

With the milli-spinner, red blood cells are "freed" and the much smaller fibrin clot is removed from the body.

"With existing technology, there’s no way to reduce the size of the clot. They rely on deforming and rupturing the clot to remove it," said senior author Renee Zhao, an assistant professor of mechanical engineering, in the release.

BOY, 6, SUFFERS LIFE-THREATENING STROKE THAT CAUSES PARALYSIS: 'RARE COMPLICATION'

"What’s unique about the milli-spinner is that it applies compression and shear forces to shrink the entire clot, dramatically reducing the volume without causing rupture."

Time is of the essence when treating an ischemic stroke, which is when the clot is cutting off oxygen to the brain. Studies have shown that for every minute during a stroke, 1.9 million brain neurons and 14 billion synapses are destroyed.

With current technologies, clots are only removed about half the time on the first try, the release stated, and they fail completely about 15% of the time.

"For most cases, we’re more than doubling the efficacy of current technology, and for the toughest clots – which we’re only removing about 11% of the time with current devices – we’re getting the artery open on the first try 90% of the time," said co-author Jeremy Heit, chief of neuroimaging and neurointervention at Stanford, in the release.

"This is a sea-change technology that will drastically improve our ability to help people."

The researchers’ findings, which incorporated both animal studies and machine-based flow models, were published June 4 in the journal Nature.

The multi-spinner could potentially be used for other applications, such as capturing and removing kidney stone fragments, the release noted.

The team is now working to get the new technology approved for clinical use, with clinical trials expected to begin soon.

"What makes this technology truly exciting is its unique mechanism to actively reshape and compact clots, rather than just extracting them," Zhao said.

"We’re working to bring this into clinical settings, where it could significantly boost the success rate of thrombectomy procedures and save patients’ lives."

Sen Padilla insists he wasn’t disrupting Noem press conference: ‘I was simply asking a question’

Democratic Sen. Alex Padilla of California on Sunday claimed that he was just trying to ask a question when he was forcibly removed from Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem’s press conference in Los Angeles last week.

Padilla recalled his side of the story during an appearance on CNN’s "State of the Union," saying that he was already in the building for a separate briefing when he decided to attend Noem’s press conference about the recent immigration protests and riots in Los Angeles.

But what happened next, he said, "you can't script this in Hollywood."

"I wasn’t trying to be disrespectful or disruptive – and I don’t think I was," the senator said. "I was simply asking a question just as the members of the press corps ask questions, members of the Congress, members of the Senate ask questions to do our job to hold the administration accountable."

DEMOCRATS CASH IN AFTER PADILLA FORCIBLY REMOVED FROM TRUMP ADMIN PRESS CONFERENCE

Padilla was handcuffed and briefly detained by officers as he aimed to speak out in opposition to Trump administration immigration raids that sparked unrest in Los Angeles and smaller protests across the country this month.

Videos of the incident showed Padilla attempting to walk up to Noem while she was speaking at a podium and trying to shout over the secretary, but law enforcement stepped in and forcefully stopped Padilla's advance.

DEM SENATOR'S VIRAL OUTBURST AT DHS PRESSER TRIGGERS MIXED REACTIONS FROM LAWMAKERS: ‘DISGUSTING SITUATION’

Padilla was eventually taken out of the room, brought to the ground and handcuffed, the videos showed. Fox News reporters who were present at the news conference said Padilla appeared to be detained for a period of time.

Padilla and Noem ended up holding a meeting afterward, which Padilla’s office described as "civil," and Noem described as "cordial" despite the strong disagreements between the two.

Padilla said during another Sunday television appearance on CBS’ "Face the Nation" that he learned "nothing substantive, nothing informative" from the later meeting with Noem.

Who is Vance Luther Boelter? Suspect in Minnesota lawmaker killings identified

Authorities have reportedly identified a suspect wanted in connection with an early-morning shooting that left one Minnesota lawmaker and her husband dead, and a second lawmaker and his wife injured.

Vance Luther Boelter, 57, is being sought for his alleged connection with the attack, two sources familiar with the matter told The Associated Press.

Boelter is reportedly the CEO of Red Lion Group, based in the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Praetorian Guard Security Services, according to Minnesota Africans United’s website.

MINNESOTA LAWMAKER, SPOUSE, SHOT DEAD IN 'POLITICALLY MOTIVATED ASSASSINATION': GOV. WALZ

Boelter's family members and Minnesota Africans United did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.

"I have been doing projects in the Democratic Republic of Congo in Central Africa for the last three years with the Red Lion Group," Boelter wrote on his LinkedIn page last month, noting that he is currently open to work.

Boelter reportedly earned his undergraduate degree in International Relations at St. Cloud University, and obtained a Masters of Science in Management and Doctorate in Leadership for the Advancement of Learning and Service from Cardinal Stritch University.

Democratic–Farmer–Labor Party (DFL) Speaker Melissa Hortman and her husband Mark Hortman were fatally shot in Brooklyn Parkearly Saturday in what Gov. Tim Walz described as "targeted political violence."

"We must all, in Minnesota and across the country, stand against all forms of political violence," Walz said. "Those responsible for this will be held accountable."

In a related shooting, DFL Sen. John Hoffman and his wife Yvette were shot in Champlin. They are expected to survive and are out of surgery.

According to authorities, the gunman was allegedly dressed as a uniformed police officer and was driving a vehicle that appeared to be outfitted as a fake patrol car.

"[The] suspect exploited the trust of our uniforms, what our uniforms are meant to represent," Public Safety Commissioner Bob Jacobson said. "That betrayal is deeply disturbing to those of us who wear the badge with honor and responsibility."

According to authorities, the gunman allegedly escaped through a back door of Hortman's house following an exchange of gunfire with police.

State Police Col. Christina Bogojevic asked people to not attend any of the "No Kings" protests scheduled throughout the state Saturday. Bogojevic said authorities do not have any evidence that the suspect would be targeting the protests, but added that police had discovered a pile of "No Kings" flyers inside a vehicle believed to be tied to the gunman.

Democrat senator forcibly removed after crashing DHS Secretary Noem's press conference

A California senator was quickly rushed away from Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem after allegedly "lunging" at her during a press conference addressing the Los Angeles anti-ICE riots.

After loudly speaking over Noem, Sen. Alex Padilla, D-Calif., was pushed out of the room by authorities as they ordered him to put his hands up.

The incident happened shortly after Noem said the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) "is staying here to liberate this city from the socialist and the burdensome leadership that this governor and this mayor have placed on this country and what they have tried to insert into this city."

ICE RAMPS UP ARRESTS OF CONVICTED CRIMINALS AS RIOTS RAGE IN BLUE CITY: 'YOU WILL NOT STOP US'

Noem did not skip a beat, continuing her address without any reaction to the disruption.

Gov. Gavin Newsom took to X to comment on Padilla's outburst, placing blame on the Trump administration for his temporary detainment.

"@SenAlexPadilla is one of the most decent people I know," Newsom wrote in the post. "This is outrageous, dictatorial, and shameful. Trump and his shock troops are out of control. This must end now."

Fox News reporters at the scene said Padilla appeared to be temporarily detained by Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) personnel and Noem later met with him in a private room.

Noem told Fox News she had a 10-15 minute discussion with Padilla and they swapped phone numbers, describing the interaction as "cordial and beneficial."

She said the senator had concerns about ICE operations and they opened up a line of communication, noting things are OK between the two of them.

Padilla later released a statement, noting his credentials and claiming he was "performing Congressional oversight in Los Angeles."

"Senator Padilla is currently in Los Angeles exercising his duty to perform Congressional oversight of the federal government’s operations in Los Angeles and across California," according to the statement. "He was in the federal building to receive a briefing with General Guillot and was listening to Secretary Noem’s press conference. He tried to ask the Secretary a question, and was forcibly removed by federal agents, forced to the ground and handcuffed. He is not currently detained, and we are working to get additional information."

CALIFORNIA SHERIFF SAYS NEWSOM ‘ENCOURAGED’ LA RIOTS AS ICE ARRESTS VIOLENT ILLEGAL ALIENS

DHS fired back at Padilla's office's claims, noting he did not have his Senate security pin on when he "lunged" at Noem.

"Senator Padilla chose disrespectful political theatre and interrupted a live press conference without identifying himself or having his Senate security pin on as he lunged toward Secretary Noem," according to a DHS spokesperson. "Mr. Padilla was told repeatedly to back away and did not comply with officers’ repeated commands. @SecretService thought he was an attacker and officers acted appropriately."

Less than 24 hours prior to the incident, Padilla was pulled out of the Congressional Baseball Game in Washington, D.C. Wednesday night to fly home because of the riots.

He was slated to start at first base.

Coast-to-coast anti-ICE chaos caught on camera

Protests against U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) are expanding across America as unrest is being captured on video after days of heated demonstrations in Los Angeles.

More than 80 people were taken into custody in New York City last night after disorderly protesters threw bottles and traffic cones on streets in the vicinity of Foley Square in Lower Manhattan, the New York Police Department told Fox News on Wednesday.

On the other side of the country, in Seattle, anti-ICE protesters clashed with police after gathering outside the Seattle Federal Office Building, according to KCPQ.

The station reported that protesters used objects such as bikes and scooters to block exits from the property. At one point, police were seen using pepper spray and non-lethal weapons to disperse demonstrators who were trying to block vehicles from leaving the area.

TEXAS GOV GREG ABBOTT DEPLOYS NATIONAL GUARD ACROSS STATE AHEAD OF ANTI-ICE PROTESTS

In another scene, protesters were captured on video pulling down an American flag from a flagpole near the federal building and lighting it on fire.

In nearby Portland, Ore., federal agents also deployed pepper spray at some protesters, according to KOIN.

Demonstrators there had gathered outside an ICE facility and projected messages on the side of the building that read "Defund the police, invest in community" and "Families belong in communities, not detention camps," the station added.

In Austin, Texas, on Monday, four police officers were injured trying to disperse a crowd of several hundred demonstrators that moved between the state Capitol and a federal building that houses an ICE office. Austin police used pepper spray balls and state police used tear gas when demonstrators began trying to deface the federal building with spray paint.

Austin Police Chief Lisa Davis said three officers were injured when people began hurling "very large" rocks, while a fourth suffered a shoulder injury during an arrest. Austin police arrested eight people, and state police arrested five more.

In Dallas, hundreds of protesters gathered near the Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge on Monday night. The situation was tense at times, with people throwing water bottles, fireworks and rocks at police officers, FOX4 Dallas reported.

PROTESTERS THROW ROCKS, JUMP ON MOVING ICE VEHICLE AFTER OMAHA WORKPLACE RAID

Elsewhere, in Chicago, a car drove through a crowd of demonstrators Tuesday night as hundreds of anti-ICE protesters gathered in the Windy City’s downtown area.

Tuesday's footage from FOX 32 Chicago shows what appeared to be a woman driving through the Chicago demonstrators walking with signs and biking on Wabash and Monroe.

While most Chicago protesters were peaceful on Tuesday, some demonstrators clashed and vandalized police vehicles, and public transportation was temporarily suspended downtown, FOX 32 reported.

In the Atlanta area, hundreds of demonstrators gathered Tuesday night in Brookhaven, according to Fox5 Atlanta. That rally ended with six arrests after the event went beyond an agreed-upon ending time, leading to clashes between protesters and law enforcement, the station added.

"Rioters are throwing rocks and Molotov cocktails at law enforcement, defacing public property, setting cars on fire, looting family businesses, assaulting law enforcement, and burning American flags," the Department of Homeland Security wrote on X on Wednesday. "Under the leadership of [President Donald] Trump and Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem we will not back down."

Fox News’ Tamara Gitt, Stephen Sorace and Audrey Conklin contributed to this report.

DHS fires back at Democrats for 'beyond the pale' rhetoric as ICE agents face wave of violent threats

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is continuing to call on Democrats to tone down the rhetoric against Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents as riots not only persisted in Los Angeles Sunday night, but agents continue to face threats of doxxing and violence.

The department has taken issue with not only California leaders but also House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, Boston Mayor Michelle Wu and Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz

"The violent targeting of law enforcement in Los Angeles by lawless rioters is despicable and Mayor Bass and Governor Newsom must call for it to end," DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin said in a Saturday statement. "The men and women of ICE put their lives on the line to protect and defend the lives of American citizens."

ACTING ICE DIRECTOR CALLS MAYOR WU'S NEO-NAZI COMPARISON 'DISGUSTING' AMID INCREASE IN AGENT ASSAULTS

"Make no mistake, Democrat politicians like Hakeem Jeffries, Mayor Wu of Boston, Tim Walz, and Mayor Bass of Los Angeles are contributing to the surge in assaults of our ICE officers through their repeated vilification and demonization of ICE," McLaughlin stated. "From comparisons to the modern-day Nazi Gestapo to glorifying rioters, the violent rhetoric of these sanctuary politicians is beyond the pale. This violence against ICE must end."

The department says there’s been a 413% increase in assaults against ICE agents, which comes as the riots in Los Angeles are centered against the presence of the agency in the city.

Wu and Jeffries recently faced criticism for their comments on ICE agents masking while conducting sweeps to conceal their identity for safety reasons.

"Every single ICE agent who is engaged in this aggressive overreach and are trying to hide their identities from the American people will be unsuccessful in doing that," Jeffries said on Capitol Hill.

"This is America. This is not the Soviet Union," he added, saying identification is needed to comply with the law and have proper "transparency." "We’re not behind the Iron Curtain. This is not the 1930s. And every single one of them, no matter what it takes, no matter how long it takes, will of course be identified."

Wu was slammed for comments where she drew a tie between ICE and neo-Nazi group Nationalist Social Club-131 for the masking decision, which DHS called "sickening," according to the Boston Herald.

FEDERAL OFFICIALS SLAM DEMOCRATS FOR 'DANGEROUS' RHETORIC AS ICE AGENTS FACE VIOLENT MOBS IN LA, NYC

"I don't know of any police department that routinely wears masks," Wu said. "We know that there are other groups that routinely wear masks. NSC-131 routinely wears masks."

Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, who was the Democratic vice presidential nominee in 2024, also controversially drew a comparison to the Nazis in May.

CLICK HERE FOR MORE IMMIGRATION COVERAGE

"I’m gonna start with the flashing red light — Donald Trump’s modern-day Gestapo is scooping folks up off the streets," Walz claimed at a University of Minnesota law school commencement speech. "They’re in unmarked vans, wearing masks, being shipped off to foreign torture dungeons. No chance to mount a defense. Not even a chance to kiss a loved one goodbye. Just grabbed up by masked agents, shoved into those vans, and disappeared."

In California, the anti-ICE riots triggered an order from President Donald Trump to deploy to the National Guard, which Newsom is expected to take legal action against. Newsom repeatedly has said that the Trump administration has instigated the situation "to manufacture chaos and violence," and has said that those who are committing "violent acts" will face legal repercussions and are playing into the president’s hands.

ICE OFFICIAL PUTS POLITICIANS ON BLAST, DEMANDING THEY 'STOP PUTTING MY PEOPLE IN DANGER'

"Continued chaotic federal sweeps, across California, to meet an arbitrary arrest quota are as reckless as they are cruel," Newsom stated Friday. "Donald Trump’s chaos is eroding trust, tearing families apart, and undermining the workers and industries that power America’s economy."

Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass called on residents not to "engage in violence and chaos" and to not "give the administration what they want," Sunday in an X post, but faced scrutiny for Friday comments saying that "these tactics sow terror in our communities and disrupt basic principles of safety in our city."

When Fox News Digital reached out to Newsom’s office about DHS’ comments, they sent a link to a post in which Acting ICE Director Todd Lyons credited Newsom for complying with ICE detainers for those already behind bars.

Fox News Digital reached out to the offices of Wu, Bass, Walz and Jeffries and did not receive replies.

Bill Maher mocks Dems for trying to find 'their Joe Rogan,' suggests figuring out how they lost him

"Real Time" host Bill Maher mocked the Democratic Party’s attempt to find "their Joe Rogan," pointing out the irony that the podcaster had leaned left until he became disillusioned with the party.

The host explained, "One idea that’s getting a lot of attention is the Dems need to find their Joe Rogan, a liberal Joe Rogan." Maher argued that rather than "conjuring up a new Joe Rogan," Democrats should be asking themselves how they lost him in the first place.

Rogan previously endorsed Sen. Bernie Sanders, D-Vt., in the 2020 election. It wasn't until 2024 that Rogan publicly endorsed President Donald Trump.

ROGAN REACTS LIVE TO ELON'S 'CRAZY' EPSTEIN ACCUSATION AGAINST TRUMP WHILE INTERVIEWING FBI DIRECTOR

The "Real Time" host lampooned the idea that the real reason why former Vice President Kamala Harris lost the 2024 election is because "Republicans have a podcast."

"Okay, maybe. Or, you could consider this," Maher jeered. "Instead of conjuring up a new Joe Rogan, ask yourself why you lost the old one, because he used to be on your side."

In 2024, regarding the Democratic desire to find its own Rogan, the podcaster said, "They had me." "I was on their side," he added.

Maher compared Rogan's political transformation to Tesla CEO Elon Musk, who was also a liberal who ended up being "driven to the other camp by bad attitudes and bad ideas."

CLICK HERE FOR MORE COVERAGE OF MEDIA AND CULTURE

Maher noted that he's watched the political evolution of both Rogan and Musk and their party affiliations didn't switch "overnight."

Maher referenced a 2022 post on then-Twitter from Elon Musk in which he shared a chart depicting his feeling that the Democratic Party had moved too far to the left for him, rather than his ideology moving to the right.

Rogan said that Democrats have moved so far that it "left a basically liberal centrist like him — now labeled a conservative," adding that he related to Musk's post.

Maher also highlighted attempts by the left to cancel Rogan and Musk as a key reason they abandoned the party.

"They tried real hard to cancel Rogan a few years ago — and when Elon hosted ‘Saturday Night Live’ in 2021, well before he was a Trumper — some of the cast gave him the cold shoulder for the sin of being rich," he recalled. "You think people don't remember when you do this s--- to them?"

The late-night host asserted that while he's never left the party, Democrats need to work hard to get "all the guys in America like Joe and Elon" back on their side, but assured them that it's still possible.

America's favorite pasta reveals strong regional preferences, study shows

From spaghetti lovers to penne passion, America's pasta preference reveals a carb-loaded culture clash across state lines.

A study conducted by Inspired Taste aimed to uncover America's wide range of pasta favorites – namely, each state's favorite pasta shape.

In doing so, it found unexpected regional preferences and nationwide outliers.

IN-N-OUT CROWNED AMERICA'S FAVORITE BURGER CHAIN IN NEW YELP RANKINGS

Spaghetti is the national favorite, leading the country with 26% of the overall vote and winning in 20 states, particularly in Mississippi, where 55% of residents favored the classic noodle - the strongest single-state loyalty to any pasta type.

Penne trails spaghetti by a thin margin. (See the video at the top of this article for a pasta-making demonstration.)

Penne was second with 25% of the vote and was the preferred pasta in 17 states, particularly in the Pacific Northwest.

It's the top contender in states like Washington and Oregon.

UNEXPECTED STATE DOMINATES AMERICA'S PIZZA SCENE AND IT'S NOT NEW YORK

"What surprised me the most was just how close the race was between spaghetti and penne, which only had a 1% difference," Joanne Gallagher, recipe creator and co-founder of Inspired Taste in Walla Walla, Washington, told Fox News Digital.

"It shows how deeply people take their pasta choices."

The rest of the findings are as twisted as fusilli.

Elbows are the outcast.

MOST POPULAR BEER IN AMERICA REVEALED IN NEW STUDY

Even though elbows are the fourth-most popular pasta shape nationally, not a single state picked it as its favorite.

Arizona stands out as the biggest penne lover, with 50% of residents favoring it – higher than any other state's penne preference.

Though not leading nationally, fettuccine dominates California at 33%.

Hawaii and New Mexico are the only states to favor angel hair pasta, or capellini.

South Dakota, Alaska and Montana are the only states to choose rotini – a swirly, long pasta – as their top choice.

Orzo and angel hair are tied for least-loved, with 18% of respondents calling them their least favorite.

"Everyone has a pasta shape that speaks to them, and that's what makes pasta so fun to cook with," Gallagher said.

After ‘agroterror’ fungus is seized in Detroit, lawmaker says Michigan has best plan to blunt CCP influence

EXCLUSIVE: After a dangerous fungus was intercepted in Detroit, Michigan House Speaker Matt Hall spoke out to Fox News Digital about the legislature's efforts to blunt Chinese influence and espionage.

The fungus, Fusarium graminearum, is considered capable of "agroterrorism" and was allegedly smuggled into the country by two Chinese nationals studying at the University of Michigan.

Hall, R-Kalamazoo, said he and colleagues have sounded the alarm for months about Beijing’s efforts and that the incident shows Michigan and other states need to be vigilant and prepared.

"As speaker, I led our Foreign Influence Protection package through the State House to block CCP operatives from buying Michigan farmland, infiltrating our universities and accessing our most sensitive data," he said.

CHINESE OFFICIAL CLAIMS NO KNOWLEDGE OF FUNGUS SITUATION, SAYS CHINA REQUIRES CITIZENS ‘ABIDE BY LOCAL LAWS’

"Our plan would have tackled this head-on and prevented Chinese government interference with our food supply and our universities."

He called the bill package the strongest collection of protections against CCP interference nationwide but said it is being held up by Senate Democrats and Gov. Gretchen Whitmer.

Requests for comment from Whitmer and Senate President Pro Tempore Jeremy Moss, D-Bloomfield, were not immediately returned.

"Their inaction means our farmland, our military bases and our universities are still at risk," Hall lamented while praising President Donald Trump for taking action to protect U.S. land and people from Chinese "schemes."

"Too many professors and administrators have let Beijing use our campuses as pawns. We will expose every CCP operation, root out every vulnerability and mobilize every state resource to secure Michigan — farmland, universities and beyond."

While a Chinese embassy official claimed earlier this week to have no knowledge of the case involving two Chinese students allegedly attempting to bring a fungus to the University of Michigan, experts said the pathogen was capable of causing billions in damage to U.S. grain supplies.

PATEL: CHINESE NATIONALS CHARGED WITH SMUGGLING 'KNOWN AGROTERRORISM AGENT' INTO US IS A 'DIRECT THREAT'

The case drew some parallels to the coronavirus pandemic, which sparked global debate over whether a viral pathogen may have emerged from a lab and infected the world.

A Michigan House Republican Communications Office official said too many federal and state oversight bodies can be infiltrated by CCP sympathizers, and they have allowed foreign agents to run rampant on college campuses with CCP-backed research grants on dangerous things like Fusarium graminearum.

While state officials like Arizona Gov. Katie Hobbs have vetoed attempts to block Chinese-linked land purchases, Michigan House leaders have said security breaches like the Fusarium graminearum incident prove the issue cannot go unchecked.

Republicans similarly criticized Whitmer for touting "corporate subsidy" deals with Chinese EV battery companies and a proposed Gotion vehicle plant in Big Rapids, Michigan.

In 2024, House Chinese Communist Party Select Committee Chairman John Moolenaar, also a Michigan Republican, said he uncovered "indisputable evidence" that Gotion High Tech was connected to supply chains involving forced labor in China.

"The American people expect companies in the U.S. to avoid all involvement with the Chinese Communist Party’s campaign of genocide," Moolenaar said.

The company, reportedly tied to both China and German-owned Volkswagen, denied the committee’s findings, calling them "baseless and absolutely false."

In October, five Chinese nationals studying in the Great Lakes State in partnership with a Chinese school were charged with espionage for what was an alleged spying operation outside Michigan National Guard Camp Grayling.

A Michigan House source said the package would also block schools from accepting foreign grants if found to be promoting any anti-American agenda and strip foreign data-mining apps from government devices through provisions from Reps. Rachelle Smit, R-Allegan; Nancy Jenkins-Arno, R-Lenawee; and William Bruck, R-Erie.

Michigan lawmakers are also trying to address another perceived threat from China: the use of drones and other technology linked to Chinese companies that are being employed by certain law enforcement agencies and municipal governments.

White House stands by tax bill after Musk calls it a 'disgusting abomination'

The White House defended the President Donald Trump-endorsed "big, beautiful bill" Tuesday after outgoing DOGE-chief Elon Musk doubled-down on his criticism of the spending bill, calling it a "disgusting abomination."

Musk, who has been openly critical of the proposed reconciliation bill, said Tuesday afternoon that he "just can't stand it anymore."

"This massive, outrageous, pork-filled Congressional spending bill is a disgusting abomination," Musk added in a Tuesday afternoon post on X. "Shame on those who voted for it: you know you did wrong. You know it."

'AMERICAN HERO' OR 'FAILURE': ELON MUSK'S DOGE DEPARTURE DIVIDES CAPITOL HILL

The bill passed the House in late-May, ahead of Memorial Day, largely along party lines. However, two Republicans did vote against the measure, citing insufficient spending cuts and a rising national debt. GOP Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul has also signaled he likely will not vote in favor of the bill in its current form, citing a debt ceiling increase that is a red-line for him.

Trump has lashed out at Paul and others for opposing the bill, but he has taken a more measured approach to Musk's criticism.

"Look, the president already knows where Elon Musk stood on this bill," White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said during a Tuesday afternoon press briefing when asked about Musk's most recent criticism.

"It doesn't change the president's opinion. This is one big, beautiful bill and he's sticking to it," she said.

ELON MUSK CRITICISM OF TRUMP TAX BILL FRUSTRATES SOME REPUBLICANS: 'NO PLACE IN CONGRESS'

Musk, who led the cost-cutting efforts at the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), previously criticized the bill during an interview with CBS, noting he was "disappointed" in the spending bill because "it undermines" all the work his DOGE team was doing.

In May, when Trump was asked about Musk's criticism of the bill on CBS, he responded, "Well, our reaction's a lot of things," before pivoting to talk about the votes needed to support pass the bill.

"Number one, we have to get a lot of votes, we can’t be cutting — we need to get a lot of support and we have a lot of support," he said. "We had to get it through the House, the House was, we had no Democrats. You know, if it was up to the Democrats, they’ll take the 65 percent increase."

Rand Paul says he would support 'big, beautiful bill' if debt ceiling hike removed

Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., said on Sunday that he would support President Donald Trump's "big, beautiful bill" if the debt ceiling hike was removed.

Paul told CBS' "Face the Nation" host Margaret Brennan that he and three other Republican senators will hold out against the bill unless it is modified.

"I think there are four of us at this point, and I would be very surprised if the bill at least is not modified in a good direction," Paul said.

"I want the tax cuts to be permanent. But at the same time, I don't wanna raise the debt ceiling five trillion," he continued, adding, "The GOP will own the debt once they vote for this."

SENATE REPUBLICANS EYE CHANGES TO TRUMP'S MEGABILL AFTER HOUSE WIN

Trump on Saturday warned Paul would be "playing right into the hands of the Democrats" if he votes against the bill.

"If Senator Rand Paul votes against our Great, Big, Beautiful Bill, he is voting for, along with the Radical Left Democrats, a 68% Tax Increase and, perhaps even more importantly, a first time ever default on U.S. Debt," Trump wrote on Truth Social Saturday afternoon.

TRUMP WARNS RAND PAUL HE'S PLAYING INTO 'HANDS OF THE DEMOCRATS' WITH 'BIG, BEAUTIFUL BILL' OPPOSITION

"Rand will be playing right into the hands of the Democrats, and the GREAT people of Kentucky will never forgive him! The GROWTH we are experiencing, plus some cost cutting later on, will solve ALL problems. America will be greater than ever before!"

Next week, Senate Republicans will get their turn to parse through the colossal package and are eying changes that could be a hard sell for House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., who can only afford to lose three votes.

Chrisley family going through ‘big adjustment’ after Todd, Julie released from prison

Savannah Chrisley has a sense of relief since she welcomed her parents home from prison.

In her first interview since her parents, Todd and Julie Chrisley, were released from federal prison, the 27-year-old reality star opened up about the emotional roller coaster of reuniting with her family since they’ve been separated for more than two years.

"Oh my gosh, it has been amazing. It's still just kind of ... it doesn't feel real," Savannah shared with People earlier this week. "We were going to bed last night. We're like, 'Is this real?' And then, I wake up this morning and my mom's walking into my bedroom, and I'm like, it's absolutely insane!"

TODD CHRISLEY OPENS UP ABOUT LIFE BEHIND BARS AND HIS FIRST MOMENTS OUT OF PRISON

Savannah continued to offer a glimpse into what life looks like for the famous family as they adjust to a new normal.

"We are just so grateful and ready to kind of start getting back to normal life, obviously, the best we can," she said. "Everything's a whirlwind right now, and it's kind of hard to live a normal life with how things are right now, but we'll get there."

While Savannah said her parents are "doing great" since being pardoned by President Donald Trump, she admitted it’s been a "big adjustment" for her family.

"It's obviously an adjustment. ... I think they're kind of just in shock right now," she explained. "It's just a big adjustment when you're in prison for 2½ years, and then you go back to so-called normal life. I can't imagine.

"I just think it's a lot for them, but they're enjoying it. We're all spending time together," she added. "And, obviously, when they're ready to talk about their feelings and emotions, I know that they will articulate it well, like they always do."

On Friday, "Chrisley Knows Best" patriarch Todd spoke out during a news conference in his home city of Nashville and gave a glimpse of what his time behind prison bars looked like.

"I had nothing to do other than to read and to work out. I worked out every morning at 10:45 until 12 with my buddies there. … I read and my walk with Christ became deeper."

He also spoke about reuniting with his family, explaining to Fox News Digital, "I don't even know that I felt like it was real at that moment. And I woke up the first morning, and I was looking around, and I'm like, 'This is really real. I'm home.' So, I was grateful for our family to be all back in the same room, to be together, to share a meal together, to pray together and to know that we're still in the fight together."

This marked the first time Chrisley has spoken to the media since he and his wife were convicted of tax evasion and bank fraud in 2022.

Julie was absent from the Chrisley family news conference Friday.

The Chrisleys' lawyer, Alex Little, shared an update with Fox News Digital on how she’s doing after being released from prison on Wednesday.
