New video emerges of DC National Guard shooting as soldier clings to life

Dramatic eyewitness video has emerged showing part of the brazen daylight ambush attack that left one National Guard member dead in Washington, D.C., and another fighting for his life.

The footage, taken by an eyewitness in a passing vehicle and obtained by the Wall Street Journal, shows a man in dark clothing with what appears to be a revolver in his hand, as two Guardsmen scramble for cover.

One Guardsman can then be seen sprinting around a corner down a street and returning fire. Afghan national Rahmanullah Lakanwal, 29, has been named as a suspect.

The horrific scene, which took place about three blocks north of the White House, captures Lakanwal raising his arm. Seconds later, he opened fire on two West Virginia National Guard members, the outlet reported.

WHITE HOUSE BLASTS MS NOW CORRESPONDENT'S 'BEYOND SICK' REACTION TO DC SHOOTING OF NATIONAL GUARDSMEN

The video then briefly captures the fallen troops lying on the sidewalk. The incident, which has rocked the nation, unfolded on 17th Street NW near Farragut West Metro Station at around 2:15 p.m.

The shooter fired off 10 to 15 rounds with a .357 revolver, according to federal charging documents cited by Reuters.

Police said that one of the Guardsmen returned fire, hitting the suspect and ending the ambush.

Specialist Sarah Beckstrom died from her injuries on Thursday while Staff Sergeant Andrew Wolfe remains in critical condition.

Lakanwal entered the United States in September 2021 under Operation Allies Welcome, the Biden administration’s Afghan evacuation and resettlement program. Prosecutors say he traveled across the country shortly before the attack and had no prior criminal record.

He now faces charges including first-degree murder and two counts of assault with intent to kill while armed. Attorney General Pam Bondi has said the Department of Justice intends to seek the death penalty.

WHERE THE TRUMP ADMIN'S COURT FIGHT OVER DC NATIONAL GUARD STANDS IN WAKE OF SHOOTING

Beckstrom and Wolfe are members of the West Virginia National Guard, which was deployed to the nation’s capital to tackle crime in the city following an executive order from President Donald Trump earlier this year.

Rep. Riley Moore, R-W.Va., said Saturday told "FOX & Friends Weekend" on Saturday that Wolfe is "hanging on," adding that his family is calling for prayer.

"His father is a deputy sheriff in the county next to mine and Andy wanted to follow in [those] footsteps and serve his nation as a National Guardsman," Moore told "FOX & Friends Weekend."

"Andy is hanging on. And he is a fighter and his family has told me that time and time again, he is a fighter," Moore added. "But above all what they want here is for everybody to continue to pray. I believe in the power of prayer and I can promise you his parents believe in the power of prayer... Please keep praying."

West Virginia Gov. Patrick Morrisey also told "Fox & Friends Weekend" on Saturday that, "Andrew is fighting for his life right now, and his family and all of his friends, they're trying to harvest as many prayers as possible from all across the country, all across the globe, to help him recover."

Morrisey said Wolfe's condition, as of Saturday, "remains very serious."

"West Virginia cares very deeply about its Guard. And there's just a proud tradition of West Virginians who step up from military service. So when something like this happens, it's really a gut punch to the communities," Morrisey added.

"Most importantly, we need justice to be served. That's critical. I think West Virginians are counting on that. Americans are counting on that," he told Fox News.

Mississippi State fans stole Ole Miss star's jerseys before rivalry game, coach Lane Kiffin says

Ole Miss Rebels quarterback Trinidad Chambliss had two of his jerseys stolen by Mississippi State fans before their Egg Bowl rivalry game, head coach Lane Kiffin said Friday.

Kiffin made the revelation as he spoke to the SEC Network before the game. He said the school’s equipment manager put cameras in the locker room Thursday night only to watch fans break in. He said the school reported the first theft to Mississippi State, which put more security around their locker room. However, he said fans broke in again early Friday morning and stole Chambliss’ jerseys.

"I guess you expect nothing less from these people," Kiffin said.

Fox News Digital reached out to Mississippi State for comment. The Egg Bowl game between the two schools was being played in Starkville – the home of Mississippi State.

It was a game that meant a little bit more for Kiffin and Ole Miss with the head coach’s future in question and with the Rebels possibly getting a berth into the SEC Championship with a win.

2025 COLLEGE FOOTBALL WEEK 14 BUZZ: SEC TEAM EXTENDS HC; OREGON STATE FINDS COACH

Kiffin was asked right before kickoff how he was able to keep his players’ heads in the game and not be distracted by the outside noise.

"They’ve been dealing with that for a lot of weeks in a row so we’re focused on going 1-0. There’s a lot on the line here," he said. "Rivalry games, records mean nothing. But to get to 11 wins, we’d be the first team in history of this state. It would be amazing. But we’re gonna have to play really consistent and play really well football for four quarters."

Chambliss, a Division II transfer from Ferris State, didn’t seem rattled by the alleged theft. He led Ole Miss down the field for a touchdown on their first two drives.

Guy Fieri insists Thanksgiving is 'one of the more affordable holidays' for families to cook on a budget

Guy Fieri says Thanksgiving can be affordable and shares how families can cut costs to celebrate the holiday on a budget.

Fieri highlighted that many Thanksgiving dish staples can be found at affordable prices. The celebrity chef opened up about the best holiday recipes and cocktails, using his Santo Tequila, in an interview with Fox News Digital.

"Thanksgiving, if you really think about it, is probably one of the more affordable holidays to cook for," Fieri said.

"Leftover bread is stuffing. Sweet potatoes, pretty darn cheap. Mashed potatoes, really cheap," he noted. "Turkey, not cheap, but not prime rib."

GUY FIERI SAYS QUAD 'EXPLODED' MID-SHOOT, KEEPING HIM IN A WHEELCHAIR FOR 8 WEEKS

Fieri offered practical advice for families looking to cook for smaller gatherings. The "Diners, Drive-ins and Dives" host suggested an easy and affordable alternative to a whole turkey.

"…if people are really trying to get by, let's say that they're doing a Thanksgiving, and it's a party of four — It's the family of four. You could go and buy turkey breasts by themselves, skin-on, bone-in," Fieri continued. "Liberally season them, dry-brine them a day ahead of time, let them rest in the fridge, roast them off in the oven or put them in the smoker."

"It's probably one of the most straightforward, easy pieces of protein to cook."

Fieri also noted that "cooking is timing."

"So what I think the best thing for people to do is — A, throughout the year, if you could try some things out, you know, everybody loves stuffing. Stuffing doesn't have to just be for Christmas. Everybody loves green beans, green bean casserole doesn't have to be just for Christmas. Everybody loves Brussels sprouts, doesn't have to be… just for the holidays. So I think that testing ahead of time is great."

Outside of sharing Thanksgiving recipe inspiration, Fieri also recommended a festive holiday cocktail featuring his Santo Tequila. He launched the spirits brand in 2017 alongside Sammy Hagar.

Fieri encouraged people to take a moment to reflect on the deeper meaning behind their Thanksgiving toast this year.

"…I want to make sure that when everybody gives that toast, and everybody celebrates and is gathered with their family and their friends, they're rejoicing on how blessed we are — remember how we got here," he told Fox News Digital. "There's a lot of men, women, and their families that made the ultimate sacrifice to make us a free country and to keep us a country. So the free opportunity you have to celebrate whatever religion you celebrate, whatever method of celebrating you have, whatever food you wanna eat — you live in this country because a lot of people, generations and generations before us, made the sacrifice. To give us this country."

"So when you give that toast and thank everybody at your family, make sure you're giving that toast to the people you don't even know that gave you the opportunity to live in a free country and have an opportunity to celebrate Thanksgiving".

WATCH: GUY FIERI URGES AMERICANS TO GIVE A THANKSGIVING TOAST TO MEN AND WOMEN WHO SACRIFICE FOR OUR COUNTRY

As for what ends up on the Fieri family Thanksgiving table, the celebrity chef said there's one thing he has to do to keep his wife happy.

"We will definitely smoke a turkey. We have a high expectation from my wife that we have white turkey meat left over for turkey sandwiches on Friday. I mean, that's a staple," he said. "Like, I don't wanna tell you about the time that someone forgot the turkey outside and the dogs got to it. There was no turkey."

"So, I always just make enough turkey. So, we'll do a full turkey, just for the nice presentation done the right way. Do a couple turkey breasts, just so we have extra white meat left over. Then we'll smoke a turkey because everybody loves smoked turkey… And we'll also do a ham. We have a big, we have a tall order."

Fieri said his family starts prepping well ahead of Thanksgiving day because he doesn't "like to be under the gun and have it be a big hassle on Thursday, on Thanksgiving. I try to walk the finish line."

Conor McGregor says he underwent psychoactive drug procedure

UFC star Conor McGregor revealed on social media that he recently underwent Ibogaine treatment in Tijuana, Mexico, at the guidance of doctors at Stanford University.

The treatment, which involves using the psychoactive substance from plants, Ibogaine, can treat traumatic brain injuries (TBIs), PTSD, anxiety and depression

"I was blessed to meet the most forward thinking doctors from Stanford University and undergo a series of treatments to address trauma. I traveled to Tijuana Mexico and underwent Ibogaine treatment at AMBIO," McGregor wrote on X.

CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COM

"It was incredible, intense, and absolutely eye-opening. I was shown what would have been my death. How soon it was to be, and how it would have impacted my children. I was looking down on myself as it happened, and then I was looking out from the coffin. God then came to me in the Holy Trinity. "

The fighter claimed he saw "Jesus descended from the white marble steps of heaven and anointed me with a crown," during the treatment.

DANA WHITE PROMISES 'GREATEST FIGHT CARD EVER ASSEMBLED' FOR POTENTIAL WHITE HOUSE UFC EVENT IN 2026

"I was saved! My brain. My heart. My soul. Healed! I was 36hours under before I finally rested. When I awoke I was me again. The most enlightening and enchanting experience I have ever undertaken. This treatment is worth its weight in GOLD! It is very, very tough, but it absolutely saved my life, and in turn saved my family," McGregor continued.

"Thank you for all your inspiration, motivation, encouragement, well wishes, support, and most importantly, for your prayers! THEY WORKED! I am my child again. But this time with the knowledge of my adult! To my family, my friends, my fans. My support! My team! Baby, we did it! The World is in for a treat! To God, I am yours!! Thank you for bestowing upon me this incredible blessing that I take with great care and absolute seriousness! I live my life per your word and nothing more."

Ibogaine is not approved for medical use in the U.S. Stanford medical researchers previously advocated for its medical applications after claiming its researchers "discovered that the plant-based psychoactive drug ibogaine, when combined with magnesium to protect the heart, safely and effectively reduces PTSD, anxiety and depression and improves functioning in veterans with TBIs," in a January 2024 report.

The drug is also associated with potential risks, including unwanted psychologic effects and cardiotoxicity, which is damage to the heart induced by certain substances, according to a study by the University of Virginia School of Medicine.

In October, the UFC announced that McGregor accepted a lengthy period of ineligibility for violating the company’s anti-doping policy.

McGregor accepted a suspension of 18 months after missing three attempted "biological sample collections within a 12-month period in 2024," which is a violation of the anti-doping policy.

McGregor’s suspension is retroactive to the date of his final missed test, which means he is eligible to return to competition in March 2026 — three months before the potential White House fight card that he has publicly said he wishes to fight in.

DAVID MARCUS: Only you can stop the foreign info operations Elon Musk just exposed

In 2019, I was sitting in a classroom at the Army War College in Carlisle, Pa., with a bunch of guys about to get their full birds and a few invited civilians. The instructor asked, "What is our greatest national security threat?" It wasn’t terrorism, it wasn’t nukes, it was cyberattacks.

This week, Elon Musk’s social media platform X showed just how insidious foreign cyberattacks can be, as he made it possible for users to view the country of origin of any account, and almost immediately, some of the most corrosive users purporting to be Americans turned out not to be.

One fake account called itself "ULTRAMAGA us TRUMPus2028," (with American flags in the name) and claimed to be based in Washington, D.C., but is actually listed as being based in Africa. Another, now-deleted, was "Trump Is My President" listed in Macedonia. A very patriotic account named @American, had a profile picture with a bald eagle over an American flag, but it is, as it turns out, based in South Asia.

We’ve known since the aftermath of the 2016 election that malign foreign governments have used fake social media accounts to sow discord. In one example from the Mueller Report, a fake Russian account organized an actual, physical political rally in America.

‘NO KINGS’ PROTEST COULD ATTRACT PAID AGITATORS AND FOREIGN INFLUENCE, CROWD-FOR-HIRE CEO WARNS

As I wrote about in this column back in June, the MAGA movement, in particular, has been targeted recently by foreign influence seeking to break it apart. Fake foreign accounts can not only create the appearance of great influence through clicks and likes, they can also fund malicious users through monetization.

The bad news is that our nation is particularly vulnerable to informational attacks precisely because we are a free society, we are dominant militarily, economically and diplomatically, but our Achilles’ heel is information, the free exchange of which we value more than safety.

For example, in no universe would China allow the United States to feed its kids an endless doom loop of propaganda as it does to our kids with TikTok. And even if it were banned, as Congress tried to do, another would simply take its place. The First Amendment ties our hands.

TRUMP, BESSENT CAN LEVERAGE TIKTOK NEGOTIATIONS TO COUNTER CHINA'S RARE EARTH DOMINANCE

This is why, and I hate to throw something on top of everyone’s busy day, but this is why the only thing that can mitigate these foreign information attacks is a well-informed citizenry. There really are very few other meaningful solutions.

Because we are a free society the government cannot truly protect you from bad foreign actors pretending to be a Denver housewife, which is why Musk’s decision to add country of origin to accounts is such an important game-changer.

But using that important tool is not enough. We must remain diligent in always remembering, in every online moment, that what we are interacting with may not be real, and may be trying to do us and our nation harm.

It is a daunting responsibility, no doubt, to constantly question what we see online, but only because freedom itself is daunting, and there are some giveaways and tells to look for.

CLICK HERE FOR MORE FOX NEWS OPINION

When you are told that such-and-such an influencer has an incredible sway over their online audience, ask yourself if you have ever seen an example of it offline. Do they hold physical events? Have you ever heard anyone talk about them in real life?

Then ask yourself who might benefit from the discord and doubt these influencers plant in our society, the distrustfulness of each other, even the dehumanization of each other. The obvious answers are Russia, China and Iran.

I feel fairly certain that my instructor at the Army War College lo those years ago would applaud Elon Musk for adding a country-of-origin label; it is a tremendous blow against foreign information operations, but he’d also point the finger at us and tell us to be diligent.

In the end, it is important to remember that most of our neighbors, our fellow Americans, are good and decent, and that when our online screens purport to show us otherwise, we should always be skeptical, because our enemies are not going to stop pressing this advantage.

Jets quarterback Justin Fields offers blunt reaction to benching

New York Jets quarterback Justin Fields had a blunt reaction after he was benched in favor of Tyrod Taylor ahead of Sunday's game against the Baltimore Ravens.

Fields, 26, didn’t have much to say as he was going to get a massage, adding that he didn’t have time to talk, the New York Post's Brian Costello reported.

"There’s no reaction. That’s life. S--- happens," Fields remarked.

CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COM

Jets running back Breece Hall took issue with how Costello approached Fields at his locker and called him out over social media.

"Pathetic move by you (to be honest). Wish some of yall would grow up and stop acting like little kids nagging somebody till they get mad lol," Hall posted to X.

The Jets signed Fields to a two-year, $40 million contract, with $30 million guaranteed, to become the starter after releasing Aaron Rodgers. The quarterback has shown flashes this season but has largely struggled.

JETS PLAYER WOUNDED IN NEW YORK CITY SHOOTING BREATHING ON HIS OWN, SOCIAL MEDIA POST SAYS

In Fields’ nine starts this season, the Jets have gone 2-7. Fields completed 62.7% of his passes for 1,259 yards with seven touchdowns and one interception.

The passing offense with Fields has been anemic, as the quarterback is 29th in the NFL in passing yards. Fields has been outstanding as a rusher, running the ball 71 times for 381 yards and four touchdowns.

While Fields is a prolific runner, it hasn’t been enough to offset the team's passing struggles with him under center.

Taylor, 36, has appeared in three games and started one this season, when Fields was hurt. The 15-year veteran has completed 62.3% of his passes for 379 yards with three touchdowns and three interceptions in limited action this season.

Head coach Aaron Glenn hopes the switch pays off when the Jets (2-8) play  the Ravens (5-5) – one of Taylor’s former teams – on Sunday at 1 p.m. ET.

ICE deports MS-13 gang leader who tried to 'game our immigration system' under Biden administration, DHS says

An El Salvadorean MS-13 "terrorist gang leader" who tried to "game" the U.S. immigration system under the Biden administration has been deported to his home country, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced Thursday.

Wilmer Alexy Garcia-Manzanarez was originally arrested by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in February 2024, "but the Biden administration allowed the criminal to try and game our immigration system by claiming fear of returning to El Salvador where he had an outstanding warrant for murder," according to the department.

"The Biden administration let this MS-13 gang member and wanted murderer claim fear of returning to El Salvador despite having a final order of removal and three prior deportations. Of course, a wanted murderer does not want to return to his country to face justice for his crimes," DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin said in a statement.

"Thanks to President Trump and Secretary Noem, this criminal illegal alien is OUT of our country," she added. "The days of the world’s criminals indefinitely remaining in our country are over."

CHARLOTTE RAID TARGETING CRIMINAL ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS LEADS TO 130 ARRESTS, INCLUDING MS-13 GANG MEMBER

Homeland Security said Garcia-Manzanarez "also committed several heinous crimes in the United States, including burglary, menacing/intimidation with a weapon, driving under the influence of alcohol, property damage, and driving without a license."

He was sent back to El Salvador on Nov. 3.

FBI WARNS OF CROOKS POSING AS ICE TO TERRORIZE COMMUNITIES – FORMER AGENT EXPLAINS RED FLAGS

Garcia-Manzanarez was first arrested by the U.S. Border Patrol after illegally entering the U.S. through the Canadian border in March 2001 and was then released into the country, officials said. He was then ordered by an immigration judge to be removed a year later.

"Between January 2007 and October 2012, ICE officers removed Garcia-Manzanarez from the United States to El Salvador three times. He chose to commit a felony and illegally re-enter the United States a fourth time," DHS said.

"Authorities in El Salvador issued a warrant for Garcia-Manzanarez' arrest. In January 2020, Interpol issued a public Red Notice for the apprehension of Garcia-Manzanarez. Officers from ICE Boston arrested Garcia-Manzanarez in Foxboro, Massachusetts on February 18, 2024," it added.

China formally arrests 18 leaders of underground Zion Church amid religious crackdown

Chinese authorities formally arrested 18 leaders of a major underground church, clearing the way for their prosecution and potential prison sentences of up to three years.

According to Reuters, which reported the arrests Wednesday citing a Christian NGO advocate, nearly 30 pastors and staff members belonging to Zion Church were detained by police in mid-October in the biggest crackdown on Chinese Christians in seven years.

ChinaAid, a Christian nonprofit human rights organization, said in a statement that the leaders were arrested on "politically motivated charges."

"These pastors and co-workers are being treated as criminals simply because they faithfully shepherded a large, legally unregistered church that refused to submit to CCP control and surveillance," the statement read in part.

CHINA PROVINCE FORCES PEOPLE OF FAITH TO REGISTER ON 'SMART RELIGION' APP FOR WORSHIP

CHINESE UNDERGROUND CHURCH PASTOR, FATHER OF US CITIZENS, DETAINED BY AUTHORITIES, FAMILY SAYS

Dr. Bob Fu, the founder and president of the organization, called the arrests of the pastors and staff members a "chilling milestone in the CCP’s all-out war on Christianity in China."

"Their only ‘crime’ is preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ, shepherding God’s flock, and refusing to turn Christ’s church into a propaganda tool of the Communist Party," he added. "By turning pastors into political prisoners, the CCP is not only persecuting these individuals and their families—it is sending a warning to every independent church in China: submit to Party control or face destruction."

Secretary of State Marco Rubio denounced the detentions of the Zion Church members in October and asked the Chinese government to release them.

Open Doors, an international organization that supports persecuted believers, estimates there are more than 96 million Christians in China.

Thanksgiving becomes British obsession as younger generations embrace American holiday

Thanksgiving isn’t just an American thing anymore: it’s becoming a British obsession.

Younger people in Britain are driving the trend. According to Mintel research, 42% of Gen Z and millennials in the U.K. have attended a Thanksgiving meal, and 16% say they plan to host or attend one for the first time this November. Over half believe American-style holidays like Thanksgiving and Halloween are becoming "bigger fixtures" on the British calendar.

"U.K. interest in Thanksgiving reflects a growing appetite for American food," Trish Caddy, associate director of food service research at Mintel, told The Guardian.

PUMPKIN OR APPLE? AMERICA’S FIERCEST THANKSGIVING DESSERT DEBATE HEATS UP

"It’s less cultural adoption, more culinary celebration. This taps into a wider experience-driven eating trend where people seek themed menus, social connection and limited-edition offerings."

PUMPKIN BREAD CRUSHES THE COMPETITION AS FALL FAVORITES ARE REVEALED ACROSS AMERICA

That "culinary celebration" is showing up on British plates. Devon-based Pipers Farm says turkey and Thanksgiving-related product sales jumped 38% in the two weeks leading up to the holiday last year and demand is still climbing. The farm has added more sides and turkey sizes to handle what it expects will be another record year.

FROM RETRO TO REFINED: JELL-O SALAD AND SAVORY GELATIN DISHES MAKE UNEXPECTED RETURN

Online grocer Ocado is seeing the same boom.

The company reports searches for "Thanksgiving" are up 440% year-over-year, while "pumpkin spice" has exploded by more than 550%. U.S. snack brands are also surging. Herr’s Buffalo Blue Cheese Curls are up 410%, and Newman’s Own Ranch Dressing sales have more than doubled.

British grocery data also show sweet potato sales spiking 45% last November, while canned pumpkin sales shot up 60% year-on-year, according to Brit Brief.

Restaurants are cashing in, too. At CUT at 45 Park Lane in London, chef Elliott Grover told The Guardian they’ve expanded their Thanksgiving service to handle more than 180 diners.

The restaurant’s Bar 45 now offers themed bites all week, from turkey croquettes to pecan pie and bacon-wrapped dates.

That appetite for Thanksgiving fits into a larger shift in how Britons approach food. Innova Market Insights calls it the "Local Goes Global" trend: a surge in curiosity about international flavors. The firm’s latest U.K. food-market data show products inspired by American cuisine are up 8% across the region, as consumers look for bold, recognizable tastes that still feel a little exotic.

TEST YOURSELF WITH OUR LATEST LIFESTYLE QUIZ

A separate 2025 U.K. food-and-drinks sector report from Tokio Marine HCC backs that up. While the report notes inflation is squeezing shoppers, it also finds that "novelty and themed experiences" remain a key growth driver in food and hospitality.

The Biden administration's Department of Justice stated that on Jan. 31, 2021, the day before Kaye was set to meet with FBI agents regarding a tip that she was at the U.S. Capitol during the Jan. 6 riot, she posted videos on social media in which she said she would "shoot" FBI agents if they came to her house. The FBI learned of Kaye's social media posts on Feb. 8, 2021, and arrested Kaye at her Florida home on Feb. 17, 2021.

A White House official told Fox News Digital that Kaye is prone to stress-induced seizures and suffered one while the jury read its verdict in 2023. The official said that the case was one of disfavored political speech, which is protected under the First Amendment.

TRUMP PARDONS NEARLY ALL JAN. 6 DEFENDANTS ON INAUGURATION DAY

U.S. Special Attorney Ed Martin posted about the pardon on Saturday, thanking Trump in a post on X.

"The Biden DOJ targeted Suzanne Kaye for social media posts — and she was sentenced to 18 months in federal lock up. President Trump is unwinding the damage done by Biden’s DOJ weaponization, so the healing can begin," Martin wrote.

Jan. 6 defendant Daniel Wilson remained incarcerated after Trump pardoned convicted rioters because he pleaded guilty to firearms charges. A White House official told Fox News Digital that the president made the decision to grant Wilson an additional pardon because the firearms were discovered during a search of Wilson's home related to the Capitol riot.

Despite being included in the sweeping pardon granted to Jan. 6 defendants by Trump on Jan. 20, 2025, Wilson remained incarcerated due to the firearms charge and was set to be released in 2028. Prior to his sentencing on Jan. 6-related charges, for which he received five years in prison, Wilson pleaded guilty to possession of a firearm by a prohibited person and possession of an unregistered firearm.

While the Trump administration Justice Department initially said that the firearm charge should not count under the Jan. 6 pardon, it later reversed course, citing "further clarity," without going into details about what caused the shift.

TRUMP ISSUES SWEEPING PARDONS FOR 2020 ELECTION ALLIES — WHAT THE MOVE REALLY MEANS

In his original pardon, Trump declared that pursuant to his authority under Article II, Section 2, of the U.S. Constitution, he was commuting the sentences of those "convicted of offenses related to events that occurred at or near the United States Capitol on January 6, 2021." That pardon included Wilson's Jan. 6 charges, but not the firearms-related ones.

U.S. District Judge Dabney Friedrich, a Trump appointee involved in Wilson's case, rejected the expanded definition of what exactly Trump was pardoning, saying it stretched the bounds of the order too far. In her opinion, Friedrich criticized the use of the phrase "related to" from Trump's original pardon to expand its meaning.

"The surrounding text of the pardon makes clear that 'related to' denotes a specific factual relationship between the conduct underlying a given offense and what took place at the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021," Friedrich wrote in her opinion.

An appeals court later supported her objections, saying that Wilson had to remain behind bars during the appeal process.

Wilson previously identified himself as a member of the Oath Keepers and the Gray Ghost Partisan Rangers militia, according to Politico.

"Dan Wilson is a good man. After more than 7 months of unjustified imprisonment, he is relieved to be home with his loved ones," Wilson's attorneys, George Pallas and Carol Stewart, told Politico in a statement. "This act of mercy not only restores his freedom but also shines a light on the overreach that has divided this nation."

Fox News Digital reached out to the Justice Department and Wilson's legal team for comment.

BBC rocked by Jan 6 edit scandal as British journalist calls out network’s ‘remarkably brazen’ move

The Sun’s editor-at-large Harry Cole criticized the BBC’s "remarkably brazen" editing of President Donald Trump’s January 6 remarks, saying the network is now "reaping what they sow."

Two top BBC executives have resigned after the network admitted to editing Trump’s words from a speech delivered on the day of the 2021 Capitol riot. BBC Chair Samir Shah conceded that the edit gave "the impression of a direct call for violent action."

"They took two very distinctive half-sentences, 40 minutes apart, and spliced them together in what could only be the most aggressive way to try and annoy Donald Trump," said Cole on "Fox & Friends" Thursday.

The BBC is accused of combining two different parts of Trump’s January 6 speech. They removed his call to march "peacefully and patriotically" and instead inserted the phrase "fight like hell" from nearly an hour later in the address.

BBC DIRECTOR-GENERAL AND UK NEWS CHIEF BOTH RESIGN OVER TRUMP SPEECH EDITING SCANDAL

BBC director-general Tim Davie and head of news Deborah Turness resigned amid the fallout over the Panorama documentary titled "Trump: A Second Chance?"

In a letter to staff, Davie admitted, "There have been some mistakes made and as director general I have to take ultimate responsibility."

Trump has threatened a $1 billion lawsuit and told Fox News’ Laura Ingraham he feels an "obligation" to sue the BBC, saying the network "defrauded" viewers. A BBC spokesperson has said the organization is reviewing Trump’s legal threat.

ROGAN REBUKES OUSTED BBC EXECUTIVES, CLAIMS THE NETWORK 'FELT JUSTIFIED IN COMPLETELY LYING' ABOUT TRUMP

Fox News contributor and former BBC legal analyst Jonathan Turley questioned how the broadcaster could make an edit without realizing its impact.

"It's hard to believe that anyone could have edited that without acknowledging that they were changing the thrust of his comments," said Turley on "America’s Newsroom" Thursday.

Trump has since called for a retraction of the program, compensation and an apology for the harm caused.

"An apology is certainly warranted here," said Turley about the legal situation.

"It's also important for them to remove the original edit from the internet version of this segment. So, they need to make sure that they correct it in some meaningful way."

Cole said he believes the BBC is "preparing for one almighty grovel" following the controversy and that the situation with Trump is just the "tip of the iceberg" in a broader issue of journalistic standards at the British broadcaster.

'The View' co-host rails against Democrats who voted to end shutdown, says Chuck Schumer's 'days are over'

"The View" co-host Sunny Hostin unloaded on the Democratic Party and said Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer's days were "over" on Monday after eight senators voted with the Republicans on a plan to fund the government.

"This was a choice by Republicans to cut ACA [Affordable Care Act] subsidies. This was a choice by the Republicans to gut the federal government and federal employment. Democrats had nothing to do with it. I want an opposition party. I think the Democrats caved. I think the Democrats let down the American people and, like you, Whoopi [Goldberg], I have absolutely no faith that the Republican Party will come to the negotiating table in good faith," Hostin said.

"Shame on you the first time. You do it twice, three times, four times, shame on me. Shame on the Democrats for even believing that the Republicans will, you know, even vote on it," Hostin said.

"So the bottom line is, the Democrats went into, after a blue wave, the American people saying, 'We do want [an] opposition.' The working people want the Democratic Party to fight for them. And now, they just caved and surrendered. I think Chuck Schumer — his days are over. And if he cannot keep his caucus together, he needs to go. He needs to be replaced," she added.

'GOOFBALLS' AND HOSTAGES: GOP SENATORS SAY SCHUMER'S SHUTDOWN TACTICS DESTROYING THE SENATE

Sens. Angus King, I-Maine, John Fetterman, D-Pa., Catherine Cortez Masto, D-Nev., Jeanne Shaheen, D-N.H., Maggie Hassan, D-N.H., Jacky Rosen, D-Nev., Tim Kaine, D-Va., and the number two Democrat in the Senate, Dick Durbin, D-Ill, are the eight senators that joined Republicans in voting on a plan that would fund the government.

Co-hosts Alyssa Farah Griffin and Sara Haines supported the end to the shutdown, with Griffin calling it a "welcome decision."

The co-hosts interviewed Schumer in March after he voted in favor of the GOP spending bill to fund the government through September, the end of the fiscal year.

REPUBLICANS UNVEIL KEY PIECE OF SHUTDOWN PUZZLE IN BID TO REOPEN GOVERNMENT

Hostin scolded Schumer during the interview and accused him of "caving" at the time.

"It gives me no pleasure to say this to you, because we are friends, but I think you caved," Hostin told Schumer. "I think you and nine other Democrats caved."

"I don't think you showed the fight that this party needs right now. Because you're playing by a rulebook, where the other party has thrown that rulebook away," she added.

Last month and this month, Schumer, along with most other Senate Democrats, voted against a continuing resolution that would fund the government several times as they sought an extension to the Obamacare subsidies.

The government has been shut down for 40 days, the longest shutdown in history.

Double-edged sword of Trump cut New Jersey Republicans down to size

The New Jersey gubernatorial election was supposed to be a razor-thin race. It was to be the silver lining against two predictable Democratic victories in Virginia and New York City. Instead, Gov.-elect Mikie Sherrill crushed Republican Jack Ciattarelli by 13 points, 56% to 43%. In the days to come we will analyze the results and pore over demographics, but as a person who has been involved in Jersey politics for several decades, and served as chair of a Republican county party, we have to acknowledge mistakes if we are going to win.

Terminating the Gateway project in the middle of a gubernatorial election will go down as one of the worst mistakes in political history. President Donald Trump is, and has been, the double-edged sword. Ciattarelli needed more of his voters to turn out, and Sherrill used Trump as the boogeyman to turn out democrats.

During Fox News election night coverage, anchor Martha MacCallum noted, "When you look at President Trump’s numbers in 2024 in New Jersey he was able to turn five counties solidly red and those counties did not follow that pattern with Jack Ciattarelli and it raises question, if it’s not Trump on the ballot, can you move the ball in some of these red districts?" The answer is a hard no.

FOX NEWS POLL: NEW JERSEY GOVERNORSHIP REMAINS DEMOCRATIC WITH SHERRILL WIN

Trump voters vote for Trump. They don't vote for other Republicans. I joined Dana Perino for her "Perino on Politics" podcast and said that if we wake up Wednesday morning and the low-propensity Trump voters stayed home, it will be Gov.-elect Sherrill. Trump did two tele-rallies for Ciattarelli but would an in-person Trump rally have helped get those voters to turn out? Personally, I think it would have helped, but perhaps I have tunnel vision.

On Oct. 14, Trump announced the termination of the Gateway project, a multibillion-dollar commuter rail project. Sherrill was able to use this cancellation as a major line of attack in northern New Jersey, where hundreds of thousands of New Jerseyans commute to New York and spend hours in brutal traffic. If the Democrats had voted to reopen the government, that issue would have been off the table, but it was a mistake to terminate the project in the middle of a gubernatorial election.

FOX NEWS POLL: SHERRILL LEADS CIATTARELLI IN NEW JERSEY GOVERNOR’S RACE

Did Republicans have tunnel vision and not see that voters were angry and blaming them for the cancellation of a project that would make their commute easier? Back to the double-edged sword. If Ciattarelli had attacked Trump over the issue, even more Trump voters would have stayed home. Either way, it gave Sherrill a strong line of attack in the closing weeks of the campaign.

Sherrill said she would freeze electricity rates on day one. Even Democratic Gov. Phil Murphy conceded it was a fantasy, saying, "I’m not sure how you’d actually do that." Regardless, it’s a simple message and people think, great, my rates won’t go up.

NEW JERSEY GUBERNATORIAL CANDIDATES TOUT EARLY VOTING NUMBERS AS TRUMP LOOMS OVER TIGHT RACE

When asked at the town hall hosted by Sean Hannity what the first thing he would do as governor, Ciattarelli said he would sign an executive order ending sanctuary cities. While that message was necessary to turn out the low-propensity Trump voters, it clearly should not have been the first action as governor. First and foremost, people were looking for economic relief. Back to the double-edged sword.

CLICK HERE FOR MORE FOX NEWS OPINION

Highly respected polls that accurately predicted the presidential race in 2024 said this race was within the margin of error. AtlasIntel, which says, "AtlastIntel was the most accurate pollster of the US Presidential Election 2nd time in a row, both at the national level and in key swing states," released a poll on Oct. 31, saying, "The New Jersey governor race is close. The scenario below shows Mikie Sherrill (D) leading Jack Ciattarelli (R) by only 0.9pp – a difference within the margin of error."

As a former Republican Party county chairman and strategist, I can clearly say that we need additional methods to assess how voters are feeling because polling drives the message. We also have to figure out how the betting markets can be so right when some polls are so wrong.

There will be more to say but the double-edged sword struck hard and now the New Jersey Republican Party will be torn apart. The only question is whether New Jersey is truly a blue state or would a stronger embrace of President Trump have turned the tide Ciattarelli’s way? If he had announced he had talked to Trump and got the funding restored for the tunnel, would that have changed everything? It is hard to see how anything could have made up the 13% gap, but better polling might have helped redirect the message to one New Jerseyans actually cared about.

Mamdani’s God Squad: The clerics, activists and political operatives who have his back

When New York mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani stepped to the microphone outside the Islamic Cultural Center of the Bronx last week near Yankee Stadium, his voice broke as he spoke about "the memory of my aunt who stopped taking the subway after Sept. 11 because she did not feel safe."

Behind him, a Yemeni-American educator in sunglasses named Debbie Almontaser nodded. Almost two decades ago, in 2007, she was forced to resign as principal of a city school after defending a T-shirt with the slogan "Intifada NYC." City officials viewed it as a call to violence. She said it was benign. Her case became a rallying cry for Muslim American activists who cast her as a victim of "Islamophobia."

FBI AGENTS FROM '93 WTC ATTACK BLAST MAMDANI FOR EMBRACING RADICAL IMAM

Now, Almontaser was back, this time as a senior advisor to Emgage Action and a board member of Yemeni American Merchants Association Action, two of 110 political nonprofits, community groups and political action committees backing Mamdani as he alleges "islamophobia" against him. Recently, when critics questioned Mamdani’s ties to hardline Brooklyn Imam Siraj Wahhaj, she sprang to action, helping to organize a protest to defend Wahhaj.

That rapid, coordinated response captured the modus operandi of a network of political operatives and clerics intertwined with the shared mission of catapulting Mamdani into the mayor’s office.

Mamdani’s background diverges from many of his co-religionists. In an interview, he said he is a Khoja Shia Muslim, part of a small, relatively liberal sect with roots in India. Many of his New York-area allies are religiously strict Sunni Muslims who practice more conservative interpretations of the faith. But they find common ground in politics.

"It’s a sophisticated fusion of religion, politics and identity," said Mansour Al-Hadj, a Washington-based researcher on Muslim political movements and extremism. "The same networks that once focused on community services are now mobilizing voters and producing candidates. This is how political Islam adapts inside democracy."

Mamdani’s God Squad includes about a few dozen key players who specialize in painting any critique as an attack on their faith, accusing critics of Islamophobia even as many of them have engaged in strident rhetoric against the U.S., Israel and capitalism.

The Original Imam: America is "filthy and sick"

Mamdani set off a firestorm on Oct. 7 when he walked into Masjid At-Taqwa in Brooklyn and later posted a photo of himself beaming beside the mosque’s imam, or prayer leader, Siraj Wahhaj.

The imam’s checkered past goes back decades. In a 1992 talk, he said American Muslims should elect an "emir" rather than choose between George Bush and Bill Clinton. Soon after, he served as a character witness in the trial of Sheikh Omar Abdel-Rahman, the so-called "Blind Sheikh" convicted for plotting the 1993 World Trade Center bombing that killed six people.

"You know what this country is?" Wahhaj said in 1995. "It’s a garbage can. Filthy. Filthy and sick."

In 2018, three of Wahhaj’s children were arrested after authorities found 11 malnourished children in a New Mexico compound tied to his family; a grandchild had died in what authorities described as an attempted exorcism. He told local news reporters, "Whatever they did wrong…it's not acceptable to us."

The Youth Imam: Resist "by any means necessary"

In New York, the Muslim American Society recently signed onto a letter to challenge "unmistakably Islamophobic, anti-Black, and xenophobic" attacks on Mamdani. Signatories included CAIR National, the Council on American-Islamic Relations’ New York chapter, Islamic Circle of North America’s New York chapter, the Islamic Center of Five Towns, Muslim American Society of New York, Muslim Community Network, Rockaway Islamic Center, and a "Syosset Muslim Community."

Members of the Muslim American Society have long been quick to accuse others of Islamophobia even as they unabashedly call for violence against their perceived enemies.

At an Eid celebration earlier this year, a cleric at the Muslim American Society, cast Muslims as victims worldwide. Mohammad Badawi, youth director at the Muslim American Society, declared the local community’s joy would only be complete when Muslims are "victorious worldwide," adding they would celebrate "after the destruction of the illegitimate Zionist occupiers," Israel.

He regularly organizes anti-Israel protests in a campaign against "injustice and oppression." At one protest, Badawi urged youth to "fight back" against injustices "by any means necessary."

Abdullah Akl, a charismatic organizer with the Muslim American Society Youth Center, leads many protests under the banner of "Within Our Lifetime," with founder Nerdeen Kiswani. Mamdani joined them before his run for mayor.

Akl calls the street protests "sacred activism," a mix of faith and resistance that will "free Palestine." Since the Oct. 7, 2023, Hamas attack on Israel, the Muslim American Society Youth Center has organized prayer protests on Wall Street outside the New York Stock Exchange, street protests for "Nakba Day," calling the day Israel was created a "catastrophe" and youth-led demonstrations outside BlackRock.

Akl turned a subway car into a protest zone with chants: "Globalize the intifada… There is only one solution: intifada revolution."

When the New York Police Department arrested Akl and other activists, the Council on American-Islamic Relation’s New York chapter sent out a press release demanding their release.

On Oct. 7 protests this year against Israel, Akl shouted, "We did not act enough! We will show up, stronger than we did the first October 7th!" In response to criticism, he posted a message on social media, doubling down and saying, "Saying we didn’t act enough to stop a full blown genocide against palestinians [sic] is incitement?? Saying we need to be louder and protest more and continue to speak up for gaza [sic] is a crime? Zionist tears once again for the most documented genocide in modern history."

For decades, Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) has served as an aggressive and litigious watchdog for a host of Muslim figures and causes, often at the forefront of fighting legitimate bigotry. But CAIR has also courted controversy. Federal prosecutors named CAIR an unindicted co-conspirator in a federal terrorism-financing case against the Holy Land Foundation, a nonprofit based in Texas. In 2008, five Holy Land leaders were convicted of funneling $12.4 million to Hamas. Ultimately, no CAIR officials were charged in connection with the case.

Years ago, Mamdani recorded rap lyrics celebrating the "Holy Land Five," urging listeners, "My love to the Holy Land Five. You better look ‘em up."

Basim Elkarra, executive director of the Council on American-Islamic Relations California chapter and one of the founders of a new 501(c)(4) nonprofit, CAIR Action Inc. now seems to be pursuing a new and entirely legal means of financing causes, taking a page from the powerful pro-Israel political action committee AIPAC. He told a meeting of the Islamic Circle of North America:  "AIPAC has had the run for 60 years, but it is over now."

"We will teach these folks a lesson … we are coming."

"...The game has changed. AIPAC has been around since 1961…and now they have a formidable foe!"

This summer, Mehdi Hasan, a former host at Qatar’s Al Jazeera TV network, sat down with Mamdani for a sympathetic interview. As the campaign heated up, Hasan became a full-time defender on social media, swatting at critics and framing Mamdani as the right kind of provocateur, a "once in a generation political talent."

Hasan’s own record includes sermons likening non-Muslims to "animals" and comparing gay people to "sexual deviants." He has said his views have become more progressive since then.

After a series of plane crashes earlier this year, Hasan wrote on social media, "Make American Planes Crash Again."

He deleted the message amid criticism and said, "I deleted this sarcastic quote-tweet because MAGA and Islamophobic folks are clipping it out of context and trying to ridiculously suggest I’m inciting violence. I was obviously mocking the MAGA slogan ‘Make America… Again’ slogan and highlighting the shocking number of plane crashes under Trump and the FAA cuts. But this tweet was in poor taste, poorly worded, and has allowed people in bad faith to call me a terrorist…"

Yasir Qadhi, a high-profile American imam and founder of the AlMaghrib Institute and MuslimMatters.com, selling the puritanical Salafi interpretation of Islam, literally wrote the book on "Understanding Salafism." Recently, he posted a two-part thread on X endorsing the idea of Mamdani’s win as a "civilizational victory."

He urged Muslim Americans to move beyond "naive" religious critiques of politicians who are more socially progressive than they are comfortable.

Meanwhile, Qadhi once mocked European Jews as "white, crooked nose, blonde hairs" and "not a Semitic people." In the same lecture, he recommended a book, "The Hoax of the Holocaust."

Most recently, he has backed the controversial Muslim housing development outside Dallas, called "EPIC City." He noted in his Instagram post: "open to non-Americans as well."

He touted some of its features: "Islamic schools, college, masjid."

Imam Khalid Latif is a popular chaplain at the Islamic Center of New York City, a $22 million project to build a hub and "our own space" on Sixth Avenue for young Muslim professionals. He endorsed Mamdani earlier this year and has been an ardent supporter. He has called him "a bearer of compassion in a time where it is far too rare."

In 2012, Latif led a pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia that included Omar Mateen, who would later murder 49 people at the Pulse nightclub in Orlando, the deadliest anti-LGBTQ attack in U.S. history. He has denied radicalizing Mateen and he hasn’t faced the same type of allegations that surround other imams.

After the backlash to Mamdani’s meeting with Wahhaj, he posted: "Happy birthday to my brother Zohran… Keep showing them who we are by showing them who you are."

He invoked the divine to bless Mamdani’s mission, revealing the fusion of religion and politics for the Mamdani God Squad: "May your 34th year be one of clarity, courage, and closeness — to your purpose, your people, and your Creator," ending with the Arabic word for amen, "Ameen."

On Monday, Latif posted a sassy video from the Muslim Democratic Club of New York with a narration, "The name is Mamdani, M-a-m-d-a-n-i," with Latif mouthing the part where the narration turns to, "You should learn how to say it."

That day, Latif delivered a speech to support Mamdani, pivoting to allege Mamdani was now a victim of "anti-Black racism," saying, "Anti-Muslim sentiment is always" a symbol of "anti-Black racism."

In a glowing portrait, The New York Times called Palestinian American political organizer Linda Sarsour a "Brooklyn home girl in a hijab." Over almost a decade, she has been a political mentor to Mamdani, inviting him into the Muslim Democratic Club of New York, which she cofounded. She later endorsed his race for the New York General Assembly, which he won.

All the while, she has been a polarizing figure, once saying about two critics, author and ex-Muslim Ayaan Hirsi Ali and activist Brigitte Gabriel, "I wish I could take their vagina away  - they don’t deserve to be women." Ali is a survivor of female genital mutilation, a practice that involves cutting the clitoris of a young girl with the idea that it will inhibit sexual promiscuity.

As a co-founder of the Women’s March, Sarsour stepped down amid criticism for alleged ant-semitism and not welcoming Jewish feminists who support the state of Israel, or "Zionists."

At a rally on Sunday night with Sen. Bernie Sanders and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Imam Latif told 13,000 people: "This is our city. This is our moment."

Some Muslims beg to differ.

"It’s not our moment," said Al-Hadj.

"Across the boroughs, the Mamdani God Squad is banging a drumbeat of grievance after grievance, from Staten Island to Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens and Long Island," he said. "Across the city’s Muslim institutions, you hear the same drumbeat: They smeared us. They silenced us. They fear us.".

He added, "In that rising volume, something is lost: Muslim pluralism. The God Squad does not speak for every Muslim in New York—nor for every Shia, every Sunni, every immigrant family, or every second-generation kid trying to thread faith and freedom. It speaks for a coalition committed to illiberal ends, with socialist capture of city politics on the one hand and puritanical religious rhetoric on the other. They insist that to oppose them is to betray the community, so they actually push their own tyranny."

Win or lose next week, Al-Hadj said, the Mamdani God Squad had actualized the words that had gotten Almontaser into so much trouble years ago: "Intifada NYC."

'The View' co-host says it was 'wholly irresponsible' for Newsom to cast doubt on fair elections under Trump

On Friday's episode of "The View," co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin argued it was "wholly irresponsible" for Democratic California Gov. Gavin Newsom to cast doubt on free and fair elections in the United States under the leadership of President Donald Trump.

"We won’t have a country. We won't have an election that's fair and free if we don't stand up," Newsom told ABC News Thursday, adding Trump wants a "Putin election."

Reacting to Newsom's comments, Griffin said, "I think it is wholly irresponsible for the governor of the most populous state, who, by the way, oversees elections in his own state. He oversees the cybersecurity infrastructure. He oversees the secretary of state. Down to poll watchers, to election workers, Gavin Newsom has a lot of power in this.

NEWSOM'S FIERY CLAIM DOJ HAS 'NO BUSINESS' MONITORING CA ELECTION BLASTED BY TRUMP OFFICIAL: 'CALM DOWN BRO'

"He could, at a minimum, say, 'I can promise you, California will have a free and fair election, and I'll work with every governor to make sure that there's no efforts to undermine them.' But that's not what he's doing," she added.

Co-host Sunny Hostin challenged Griffin’s argument, asking how Newsom could assure voters of election integrity while the president plans to send federal election monitors to California.

"Because he's the chief executive of the state," Griffin responded. "Monitors, we need to know what that means. I do think it's an alarming phrase."

Before she could finish her point, co-host Joy Behar interrupted and asked, "Doesn't it sound like election intimidators?"

Griffin noted that Newsom has "his own authorities in the state" and drew a parallel between his stance on election monitors and his efforts to redistrict California.

"For him to say this, it reminds me very much of the gerrymandering debate," she recalled. "So, everyone is angry when Texas redraws congressional maps to add more Republican seats. 'They're cheating. It's rigged.' So, California responds by cheating and rigging it and adding more Democratic seats."

The Justice Department announced last week that it plans to send federal election watchers to California and New Jersey for their closely watched elections next month.

California voters will also decide on a ballot measure aimed at redrawing the state’s congressional map in favor of Democrats, a move meant to counter GOP-led redistricting in states like Texas.

Co-host Sara Haines appeared to agree with Griffin's assertion about Newsom's comments, arguing earlier in the show that his claims are likely to discourage voters who already seem to be losing trust in the election system.

"People fought hard for those rights to vote, and we already don’t have people showing up at our polls. We don’t need to plant seeds. You always go out. You always vote," Haines said. "Let the rest be determined as it plays out, because when fraud was claimed last time, not one judge in this country saw any proof of any fraud.

"So, by planting these seeds, you’re already taking a public that’s lost trust in everything and saying, ‘Your vote doesn’t matter.’ That's the fastest way to affect an election," she added.

Fox News Digital has reached out to Newsom's office for comment.
