Russell Wilson signals NFL future plans as Jaxson Dart emerges as Giants’ top option for next season

After a rocky one-year stint with the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2024, Russell Wilson joined the New York Giants this past offseason. However, he was relegated to a backup role after just three games.

Rookie Jaxson Dart quickly showed promise once he had the chance to start, but his season was briefly derailed by injury. Jameis Winston — not Wilson — stepped in for Dart in a handful of games. Dart returned to the starting lineup in Week 13, casting more doubt on Wilson's future with the Giants.

Nevertheless, Wilson does not appear to be ready to call it quits in 2026.

On Wednesday, Wilson replied to a social media user who declared, "2017-2020 Russell Wilson would be the best QB in the NFL if he played today."

IS EAGLES QB JALEN HURTS ON A SIMILAR CAREER PATH AS RUSSELL WILSON?

The statement was a response to a clip from FOX Sports’ daily morning program, "Wake Up Barstool," that debated whether Wilson's career shared similarities with Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts.

"Man… I gotta get back to Ballin’ & being Me. Back to my First 10. It’s time. Time to go Dark," Wilson wrote on X.

Just three NFL seasons have passed since Wilson was among the highest-paid stars in league history. The Super Bowl winner appeared to be on the fast track to Canton for a Hall of Fame enshrinement shortly after he hung up his cleats.

In March 2022, the Seahawks traded Wilson to the Denver Broncos. His two-year stint in Denver was tumultuous.

Wilson has seen limited action following his latest benching. Barring a major roster shakeup or an injury crisis in the Giants' quarterback room, Wilson is on track to end the season with career lows in touchdowns and passing yards.

He has thrown for 831 yards and three touchdowns against three interceptions over six games this season. The 37-year-old could draw interest from teams looking for a bridge quarterback, considering the expected limited number of available options in next offseason’s free-agent quarterback class.

Senate GOP barrels past blockade to advance nearly 100 Trump nominees

Senate Republicans rammed through the first procedural hurdle on their road to confirming nearly 100 of President Donald Trump's nominees on Wednesday.

The move tees up a later vote on 97 of Trump’s picks and marks the third time Senate Republicans advanced a bloc of the president’s nominees since changing the confirmation rules in September.

The final vote to confirm the latest tranche of picks is expected next week. Once Republicans clear this latest package, they will have confirmed over 400 of Trump’s picks during the first year of his second term.

DEM ATTEMPT TO THWART TRUMP NOMS BACKFIRES, REPUBLICANS TEE UP NEARLY 100 FOR CONFIRMATION

That benchmark would place him well ahead of former President Joe Biden, who at the same point in his presidency had 350 of his nominees confirmed.

Among the list of nominees are former Rep. Anthony D’Esposito, R-N.Y., to serve as inspector general at the Department of Labor, and two picks for the National Labor Relations Board, James Murphy and Scott Mayer, among several others across nearly every federal agency.

SENATE CONFIRMS DOZENS OF TRUMP NOMINEES IN FIRST TEST OF NEW NUCLEAR RULES

The inclusion of Murphy and Mayer in the package comes after Trump fired National Labor Relations Board member Gwynne Wilcox, a move that was ultimately found to be legal by the Supreme Court earlier this year.

It’s also Senate Republicans’ second attempt to move this package after Sen. Michael Bennet, D-Colo., objected last week in a bid to derail the process.

Senate Republicans went nuclear and changed the rules surrounding the confirmation process in a bid to break through Senate Democrats’ monthslong blockade of Trump’s nominees and limited the scope to only sub-Cabinet-level positions that would be advanced through a simple, 50-vote majority.

SENATE GOP LEADER MOVES TO LOWER FILIBUSTER THRESHOLD FOR TRUMP NOMINEES THROUGH NUCLEAR OPTION

But one of the nominees in the original package, Sara Carter, a former Fox News contributor whose legal name is Sara Bailey, was considered a "Level 1" nominee, meaning she would hold a Cabinet-level position.

Trump tapped Carter in March to be his drug czar as director of the Office of National Drug Control Policy.

Carter’s inclusion in the package meant that if Republicans wanted to confirm the 87 other nominees and her, they would have to break the 60-vote filibuster threshold. That outcome was highly unlikely, given Senate Democrats' near-universal disapproval of several of Trump’s picks and accusations that many were not qualified to serve in the positions they had been tapped to fill.

Senate Republicans took advantage of the opportunity, however, and moved instead to offer a new, more beefed-up package that added nine more nominees.

MS-13 gang leader accused in murder of ex-Honduran president’s son arrested in Nebraska

An MS-13 leader believed to have overseen a kill squad for the bloodthirsty gang — and who is linked to the killing of the son of the former president of Honduras — was arrested in Nebraska on Monday, the agency said.

Gerson Emir Cuadra Soto, 33, aka "Fantasma," was taken into custody in Grand Island, 150 miles west of Omaha, on immigration-related charges, the FBI said Tuesday.

Cuadra is believed to have overseen "El Combo," an MS-13 kill squad designated to carry out assassinations on behalf of the gang. He has been charged in Honduras with four homicides, authorities said.

Authorities suspect he played a role in the July 2022 killing of Said Lobo Bonilla, the son of former Honduran President Porfirio Lobo Sosa. Bonilla and three other men were killed as they left a nightclub in the Honduran capital of Tegucigalpa.

FEDS NAB SUSPECTED MS-13 GANGSTER, TOP 700 ARRESTS IN DC CRACKDOWN

Cuadra fled Honduras following the quadruple murder. He and two co-defendants were released from jail after government officials were paid $125,000 in bribes, federal prosecutors said, according to an unsealed affidavit.

Authorities allege that Cuadra entered the United States in November by crossing from Mexico into Texas and later obtained a California driver’s license.

Honduran authorities identified Cuadra as a close associate of Yulan Archaga Carias, known as "Porky," who is listed on the FBI's Top 10 Most Wanted fugitives list. Carias is believed to be MS-13's leader in Honduras and a voting member of the gang’s leadership group, "La Mesa."

SCOOP: WHITE HOUSE TOUTS GUNS AND DRUG HAUL REMOVED FROM DC STREETS AS TRUMP’S CRIME BLITZ NETS 550 ARRES

He is charged by the Justice Department with racketeering conspiracy, cocaine importation conspiracy, and possession of and conspiracy to possess machine guns.

Despite Cuadra’s arrest on immigration charges, the FBI's Houston office, which led the investigation that resulted in his arrest, continues to investigate him for his alleged role as an MS-13 leader.

The case is part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative aimed at dismantling drug cartels and transnational criminal organizations, and to protect communities from violent crime.

Fox News Digital reached out to the FBI, the Justice Department and the Department of Homeland Security for more information, but did not immediately receive a response.

In February, President Donald Trump designated several groups — mostly drug cartels, including MS-13 — as Foreign Terrorist Organizations, expanding the government’s ability to crack down on criminal groups operating in the U.S.

Murdaugh trial court clerk pleads guilty to showing sealed crime scene photos to photographer

A former South Carolina court clerk pleaded guilty Monday in connection with showing sealed court exhibits related to the murder trial of disgraced attorney Alex Murdaugh to a photographer and lying about it in court.

Mary Rebecca "Becky" Hill, who served as the court clerk in Colleton County, pleaded guilty to four charges — obstruction of justice and perjury for showing a reporter photographs that were sealed court exhibits and then lying about it, plus two counts of misconduct in office for taking bonuses and promoting a book she wrote on the trial through her public office.

"There is no excuse for the mistakes I made. I’m ashamed of them and will carry that shame the rest of my life," Hill said in a statement read to the court.

She was sentenced to three years of probation.

ALEX MURDAUGH’S MONEY MAN PAYS THE PRICE AFTER ADMITTING ROLE IN MILLION-DOLLAR CRIME SCHEME

Her sentence would have been much harsher had evidence surfaced that she tampered with the murder trial, Judge Heath Taylor told Hill.

During Murdaugjh's murder trial, Hill was responsible for taking care of the jury, overseeing exhibits and assisting the judge. Murdaugh was eventually convicted of murdering his wife and son after a six-week trial, which drew nationwide attention.

Murdaugh's lawyers said Hill tried to influence jurors to vote guilty and that she was biased against Murdaugh because of her book.

ALEX MURDAUGH SLAMS NEW TRUE CRIME SERIES DEPICTING FAMILY'S DOUBLE-MURDER: 'MISLEADING PORTRAYALS'

Solicitor Rick Hubbard told the judge that a journalist informed investigators that Hill showed graphic crime scene photos to several media members.

He did not name the journalist.

The photos were posted online, and the metadata from the images matched a time when Hill's courthouse key card indicated she was inside the locked room where the photos were kept, Hubbard said.

Hill resigned in March 2024. One of the charges against her stemmed from money prosecutors said she took for herself. She brought a check to court on Monday to repay nearly $10,000.

Meanwhile, Murdaugh is also serving a prison sentence for stealing money from his family's law firm and client settlements.

Fox News Digital has reached out to Murdaugh's attorney.

White House roadmap says Europe may be 'unrecognizable' in 20 years as migration raises doubts about US allies

The White House warns in a stark new National Security Strategy that Europe could be "unrecognizable in 20 years or less" due to mass migration, adding that the demographic shift raises doubts about future U.S. allies on the continent.

"Should present trends continue, the continent will be unrecognizable in 20 years or less," the 33-page document released on Thursday reads.

It adds that the "real and more stark prospect" is of "civilizational erasure."

Mass immigration has been one of Europe’s most volatile political flashpoints over the past decade, fueled by repeated waves of immigrants from the Middle East, Africa and South Asia.

TRUMP HIGHLIGHTS FEDERAL LAW GRANTING PRESIDENTIAL POWER TO HALT IMMIGRATION AS CRACKDOWN ESCALATES

"As such, it is far from obvious whether certain European countries will have economies and militaries strong enough to remain reliable allies," the document says. "Many of these nations are currently doubling down on their present path. We want Europe to remain European, to regain its civilizational self-confidence, and to abandon its failed focus on regulatory suffocation."

The national security plan cites migration policies that are "transforming the continent and creating strife," along with "cratering birthrates" and the erosion of national identity.

The White House warns the demographic shift could have major implications for NATO and European security, noting that several member states may become "majority non-European." That scenario, the document argues, could weaken Europe’s ability to deter adversaries and complicate U.S. efforts to maintain transatlantic stability.

"Over the long term, it is more than plausible that within a few decades at the latest, certain NATO members will become majority non-European," the document says. "As such, it is an open question whether they will view their place in the world, or their alliance with the United States, in the same way as those who signed the NATO charter."

The document says Europe’s economic decline is well under way, losing a 25% share of global GDP in 1990 to 14% today — "partly owing to national and transnational regulations that undermine creativity and industriousness."

But it says that economic decline is eclipsed by the broader warning of "civilizational erasure." It lists migration policies, censorship, political suppression, cratering birthrates and the loss of national identity as the forces driving that trajectory.

TRUMP SLAMS EUROPE OVER IMMIGRATION, SAYS ‘HORRIBLE INVASION’ IS KILLING THE CONTINENT

President Donald Trump echoed similar warnings during a visit to the United Kingdom last year, saying mass immigration would "destroy Europe" and that the continent was "not going to survive" unless governments dramatically changed course.

The White House defended the warning, saying Europe is already suffering the consequences of mass immigration.

"The devastating impacts of unchecked migration and those migrants’ inability to assimilate are not just a concern for President Trump but for Europeans themselves, who have increasingly noted immigration as one of their top concerns," White House spokesperson Anna Kelly said in a statement to Fox News Digital. "These open border policies have led to widespread examples of violence, spikes in crime, and more, with detrimental impacts on the fiscal sustainability of social safety net programs."

Kelly said Trump’s border policies "saved America from such destruction," adding that "other countries would be wise to follow suit."

The White House pointed to a range of European data to support the administration’s concerns, citing studies showing asylum migration costing the Netherlands €475,000 per migrant, illegal immigration costing France €1.8 billion in 2023 and non-Western migrants committing disproportionate shares of violent crime in Denmark and Germany. The White House also referenced a series of fatal terror attacks across the continent carried out by migrants.

The 33-page blueprint has no named author but features a foreword by Trump, who calls the document a "roadmap to ensure America remains the greatest and most successful nation in human history."

The document forms part of a sweeping set of national security goals in which the president vows to enforce the Monroe Doctrine while adding his own corollary aimed at expanding U.S. influence in the Western Hemisphere and countering adversaries’ growing footprint.

The Trump administration asserts that a "reasonably stable" Western Hemisphere where governments work together to fight malign foreign influence is key to U.S. national security. To achieve this, the administration vows in the document to "assert and enforce a 'Trump Corollary' to the Monroe Doctrine."

Former President James Monroe issued the doctrine in his seventh annual address to Congress on Dec. 2, 1823, warning European powers against interfering in the Western Hemisphere through political influence or colonization. The U.S. Office of the Historian, part of the State Department, notes that although European nations initially paid little attention to Monroe’s declaration, it eventually became "a longstanding tenet of U.S. foreign policy."

"After years of neglect, the United States will reassert and enforce the Monroe Doctrine to restore American preeminence in the Western Hemisphere, and to protect our homeland and our access to key geographies throughout the region," the document reads.

"This 'Trump Corollary' to the Monroe Doctrine is a common-sense and potent restoration of American power and priorities, consistent with American security interests."

Fox News’ Rachel Wolf contributed to this report.

Senate Republicans demand vetting overhaul after shooting of National Guard members

Several Senate Republicans are calling for the Trump administration to revisit vetting standards for Afghan nationals following the shooting of two National Guard members last week.

In a letter to Secretary of State Marco Rubio, over a half dozen Senate Republicans argued that it was "past time for the United States to revisit the deficiencies of the Biden administration’s vetting process for Afghan nationals," in the wake of former President Joe Biden’s withdrawal from Afghanistan.

Their letter comes after the shooting of two National Guard members — U.S. Air Force Staff Sgt. Andrew Wolfe, 24, who was wounded, and U.S. Army Spc. Sarah Beckstrom, 20, who was killed — allegedly by Rahmanullah Lakanwal, an Afghan man that entered the country under Biden’s Operation Allies Welcome in 2021.

PATEL BLASTS BIDEN'S 'EMBLEMATIC FAILURE' AFTER AFGHAN NATIONAL CHARGED IN GUARD SHOOTING

Lakanwal, 29, was charged with two counts of assault with intent to kill, one count of murder and one count of possession of a firearm during a crime of violence, for the alleged shooting late last month.

The lawmakers, including Sens. Tom Cotton, R-Ark.; Susan Collins, R-Maine; James Risch, R-Idaho; James Lankford, R-Okla.; John Cornyn, R-Texas; Ted Budd, R-N.C.; Mike Rounds, R-S.D.; and Todd Young, R-Ind.; wrote that the Biden administration’s assertion that all Afghan nationals were following the withdrawal from the country in 2021 were subject to "enhanced vetting" was untrue.

DC NATIONAL GUARD SHOOTING SUSPECT FORMALLY CHARGED: 'NOTHING IS OFF THE TABLE'

They wrote that a 2022 Department of War inspector general report found that Operation Allies Refuge and Operation Allies Welcome, two programs launched in the wake of Biden’s withdrawal from Afghanistan, did not use data from the Pentagon to vet Afghan evacuees.

Through Automated Biometric Identification System data, the National Ground Intelligence Center found that at least 50 people had "potentially significant security concerns," ranging from petty theft on military bases to fingerprints found on improvised explosive devices.

TRUMP INVITES FAMILIES OF TWO NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERS SHOT IN DC TO WHITE HOUSE, PLANS TO HONOR SOLDIERS

A later report agreed with the Pentagon’s findings and "further found that approximately 31,000 Afghan evacuees were allowed into the country before DHS could form a taskforce to vet and support their resettlement."

"Congress is further aware of potentially hundreds of evacuees that the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has found to have potential links to terrorism after their arrival in the United States," they wrote.

The lawmakers demanded that the Pentagon, Department of Homeland Security and the intelligence community revisit the vetting standards for Afghan nationals, and implement the vetting procedures recommended by the Department of War years ago, identify and locate those evacuees discovered to have significant security concerns, and "seek immediate removal of such evacuees from the United States back to Afghanistan or other third countries, as appropriate."

EXCLUSIVE: Charlie Kirk’s final book battles the ‘machine of modern life,’ urges a return to the Sabbath

EXCLUSIVE: Charlie Kirk’s final book is a "manifesto against the machine of modern life," encouraging his followers to "stop in the name of God" and honor the Sabbath.

Kirk, the founder and CEO of Turning Point USA, was assassinated Sept. 10 after years of promoting civil discourse on college campuses and mentoring young adults across the country.

CHARLIE KIRK BELIEVED IN ME AND MY GENERATION. WE SHOULD HONOR HIM BY SPEAKING WITH COURAGE

Weeks before his murder, Kirk finished what would be his final book — "Stop, In the Name of God: Why Honoring the Sabbath Will Transform Your Life." Kirk was "fiercely proud of it," according to Winning Team Publishing — the publishing house that published his final book.

Kirk’s beloved wife, Erika, was "determined to bring it into the world as a tribute to his legacy," and added a foreword to the book after his death, exclusively obtained by Fox News Digital.

"I knew Charlie so deeply, in a way no one else could," Erika Kirk writes in the book's forward. "That is why I can say with certainty: these pages are not theory for him, they are testimony. The words you hold in your hands were the convictions he lived that were written on his heart."

"Looking back now, I see the book as one of Charlie’s most enduring gifts to the world," she continues. "He did not know how brief his time (on) earth would be—none of us did—but the truths written in this book are not bound by time. They will outlive us all, as will the legacy of his faith."

"There is no doubt in my heart that Charlie left this world doing what he loved most: standing firm for truth, for faith, for family, and for America," she continued. "The mark he made will not fade; it is etched in countless lives and stories. Though he is no longer beside us, I find deep comfort in knowing his voice still carries on."

"As Charlie’s widow, I write these words through tears, yet also with a steady hope," she writes. "My prayer is that you (and one day my two precious children) will not only read these pages but weave them into the fabric of your life. That you will let one of Charlie’s final messages quiet your hurried steps and lead you nearer to God."

Erika Kirk, the now-CEO and board chair for Turning Point USA, goes on to thank readers for "opening these pages, for allowing Charlie’s words and convictions to take root in your own life, and for helping to carry forward the legacy of a man who poured himself out for his Savior, his family, and his country."

FOX NEWS MEDIA TO PRESENT FIRST INTERVIEWS WITH ERIKA KIRK AS SHE LAUNCHES BOOK TOUR FOR LATE HUSBAND CHARLIE KIRK’S "STOP, IN THE NAME OF GOD" THE WEEK OF DEC. 8

Charlie Kirk was killed in September as he spoke to a crowd at Utah Valley University. Authorities believe a single shot was fired from the roof of a building some 200 yards away.

Charlie Kirk was 31, and the married father of two young children. The assassination of Charlie Kirk, one of the most prominent conservative voices in the country, sent a shockwave across the nation and mobilized thousands of young supporters on college campuses across the United States.

Fox News Digital also exclusively obtained the prologue and introduction of the book, written by Charlie Kirk.

"In this book, I intend to persuade you of something that may, at first, seem quaint, old-fashioned, or even unnecessary: that the Sabbath is not merely a helpful tradition or a cultural relic—it is essential to the flourishing of the human soul," Charlie Kirk wrote.

"I will define the Sabbath not just in doctrinal terms but in existential ones. We will explore its origin—not in history, but in eternity; not in law, but in creation," he wrote. "I will show you how to incorporate it not as a weekly burger but as a life-giving rhythm that reorders your time, renews your mind, and restores your humanity."

Charlie Kirk wrote that the book "is not written for the religiously initiated alone."

"It is written for the exhausted parent, the anxious student, the burned-out executive, the soul-numbed scroller," he wrote.

"This is not a suggestion manual or a spiritual upgrade for those with spare time," he continued. "This is a manifesto against the machine of modern life. It is a call to war against the endless noise and ceaseless hurry that have slowly robbed you of your joy, your wonder, and your rest."

Charlie Kirk wrote that he did not write the book to "affirm your lifestyle," but instead "to interrupt it."

"I am writing to cut at the root of some of the deepest wounds in our society—disconnection, anxiety, spiritual fatigue, moral confusion—and to offer you a concrete, ancient, and divine practice that can begin to heal them," he wrote.

"As America has abandoned the Sabbath, we have watched nearly every major marker of health—emotional, spiritual, communal—begin to fail," he wrote. "We are more productive and less peaceful, more connected digitally and more isolated relationally. We are over-stimulated, undernourished, distracted, discontent, and desperately lonely."

ERIKA KIRK SHARES EMOTIONAL THANKSGIVING MESSAGE HONORING CHARLIE: ‘WHAT REMAINS IS SACRED’

"My mission in writing this is very simple: I desire to bring all humanity back to God’s design to rest for an entire day," Charlie Kirk writes. "To cease working, to STOP, in the name of GOD."

The introduction of the book, in Charlie Kirk's own words, brings the reader on his own journey to rediscovering the Sabbath.

Charlie Kirk brings the reader back to the summer of 2021, saying his life was "in perfect order," and after marrying Erika Kirk, his life "was as good as it gets."

"But on the inside, there was a battle brewing," he wrote. "I was fatigued, tired, and spiritually confused."

Charlie Kirk discussed how he began to unplug, recharge and reconnect with God, family, and himself through observing the Sabbath.

The book is packed with Charlie Kirk's practical insights and spiritual wisdom to help readers understand how honoring the Sabbath "restores balance, reduces anxiety, and nourishes your soul."

The book was published by Winning Team Publishing, and will be available nationwide Tuesday, including at WinningPublishing.com, Barnes & Noble, Books-A-Million, Amazon, Walmart, 45books.com and more. The book is available for pre-order.

Erika Kirk will appear on Fox News Channel's "Hannity," "Fox & Friends," and will co-host "Outnumbered" and "The Five" the week of its release to promote the book.

Epstein island compound seen in new photos released by House Dems

Democrats from the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform announced Wednesday that they have "received never-before-seen photos and videos of Jeffrey Epstein's private island that are a harrowing look behind Epstein’s closed doors."

"See for yourself. We won’t stop fighting until we end this cover-up and deliver justice for the survivors," Oversight Dems wrote on X.

"This production is in response to an Oversight Committee request to the U.S. Virgin Islands Department of Justice for additional information to aid in the ongoing Committee investigation into Jeffrey Epstein’s crimes," it added in a statement. "The Committee also received records from J.P. Morgan and Deutsche Bank. Oversight Democrats intend to release files to the public after review in the days ahead."

President Donald Trump announced in November that he signed legislation green-lighting the Justice Department to release files related to the late financier and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. The photos and video released by the House Oversight Dems purportedly show various rooms inside buildings on Little Saint James island in the U.S. Virgin Islands, as well as other locations on the island.

JUSTICE DEPARTMENT FILES MOTION TO UNSEAL EPSTEIN DOCUMENTS IN LATEST STEP TOWARD RELEASE

The Epstein Files Transparency Act specifically directs the Justice Department to release all unclassified records and investigative materials related to Epstein and Ghislane Maxwell, as well as files related to individuals who were referenced in Epstein previous legal cases, details surrounding trafficking allegations, internal DOJ communications as they relate to Epstein and any details surrounding the investigation into his death.

Files that include victims' names, child sex abuse materials, classified materials or other materials that could threaten an active investigation may be withheld or redacted by the DOJ.

UK PRIME MINISTER SUGGESTS FORMER PRINCE ANDREW SHOULD TESTIFY IN EPSTEIN INVESTIGATION

"These new images are a disturbing look into the world of Jeffrey Epstein and his island. We are releasing these photos and videos to ensure public transparency in our investigation and to help piece together the full picture of Epstein’s horrific crimes. We won’t stop fighting until we deliver justice for the survivors. It’s time for President Trump to release all the files, now," House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform Ranking Member Robert Garcia, D-Calif., said Wednesday in a statement.

"On November 18, 2025, the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform sent a request to the U.S. Virgin Islands Attorney General for documents, communications, and information pertaining to investigations or potential criminal investigations of Jeffrey Epstein or Ghislaine Maxwell," the Committee said.

"We will continue to release documents and files as we receive them. The survivors deserve justice and the truth. We need the Department of Justice to release all the files, NOW," Garcia added in a post on X.

Senator renews push to mandate vetting for Afghan evacuees after National Guard shooting

Sen. Josh Hawley, R-Mo., is reintroducing legislation that would require the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to ramp up vetting for Afghan evacuees brought to America following the U.S. military's 2021 withdrawal from Afghanistan.

Hawley first introduced the legislation in the immediate aftermath of the withdrawal, but it failed to make its way through Congress. The bill, the Afghanistan Vetting and Accountability Act, would require DHS to verify the biometric and personal information of all Afghan evacuees, as well as conduct in-person vetting interviews with the same.

The legislation would also cut off all federal aid to Afghan evacuees who have not undergone the vetting process, as well as require the DHS to provide Congress with quarterly updates on the vetting process.

"Joe Biden didn’t just botch our withdrawal from Afghanistan, he put Americans at risk by allowing tens of thousands of refugees into our country without proper vetting," Hawley told Fox News Digital in a statement. "My bill is going to codify into law what President Trump started: we’re going to protect our heroes and ensure anyone allowed into our country is not a threat to our own citizens."

ALLEGED DC SHOOTER ENTERED US UNDER AFGHAN RESETTLEMENT PUSH MAYORKAS VOWED WOULD BE DONE ‘SWIFTLY AND SAFELY'

The new bill comes roughly a week after an Afghan evacuee allowed into the U.S. under Biden was charged with shooting two National Guard members in Washington, D.C.

One of the victims, Sarah Beckstrom, died of her wounds. The other, Andrew Wolfe, remains in critical condition.

ABBEY GATE GOLD STAR FATHER BLISTERS BIDEN AFTER AFGHAN NATIONAL ALLEGEDLY AMBUSHES 2 NATIONAL GUARDSMEN IN DC

The alleged gunman, Rahmanullah Lakanwal, 29, faces multiple charges, including one count of first-degree murder and two counts of assault with intent to kill while armed. Attorney General Pam Bondi said that the Justice Department would pursue the death penalty against the suspect.

Lakanwal entered the U.S. under Biden's "Operation Allies Welcome," which critics say failed to properly vet thousands of Afghan evacuees.

Another Afghan national, Mohammad Dawood Alokozay, was arrested the same week for posting a video of himself on TikTok indicating he was building a bomb with an intended target of the Fort Worth area in Texas. Alokozay also entered the U.S. through Operation Allies Welcome.

Tropical hotspot security alert warns of criminal gangs and 'armed robberies' at rental properties

The U.S. Embassy San Jose has issued a security alert for Costa Rica.

The alert was issued on Nov. 25, citing reports of recent property crimes, financial crimes and robberies.

"Tourists have reported break-ins and armed robberies at Airbnbs and other rental properties," the alert says.

NEW ADVISORY SAYS 'TERRORIST GROUPS MAY ATTACK' IN POPULAR SUNNY DESTINATION

Nearly 3 million people visited Costa Rica in 2024, according to Instituto Costarricense de Turismo.

The alert adds that criminal gangs have forced travelers to withdraw large sums of cash from ATMs or by making bank transfers.

"Do not display signs of wealth, such as wearing expensive jewelry or watches," the Embassy advises.

Tourists are encouraged to avoid traveling alone, to stay vigilant when visiting banks or ATMs and to never leave valuables unattended in vehicles.

When renting a car, tourists are told to "double check [that the] vehicle is locked." The alert added that "thieves often use signal blockers to prevent vehicles from locking with key fobs."

As for financial crimes, tourists are encouraged to set daily withdrawal limits from bank accounts, minimize funds kept in any one account and discuss security strategies with their banks ahead of any trips.

The warm paradise is known for its beaches, rainforests, wildlife and adventure activities.

While all-inclusive resorts are popular, there are hundreds of rental properties available.

The alert tells tourists to research Airbnbs, rental properties and hotels in advance of trips.

"Avoid properties with reviews that mention security incidents."

The U.S. State Department has had a Level 2 travel advisory in place since Dec. 10, 2024.

"Petty crime is common throughout Costa Rica," says the advisory justification.

"Violent crime also affects tourists. This includes armed robbery, homicide and sexual assault."

Sen Cory Booker marries fiancé Alexis Lewis in intimate DC ceremony

Sen. Cory Booker, D-N.J., announced that he married his fiancĂ© Alexis Lewis on Saturday, sharing photos of himself and his newlywed wife on social media.

Booker and Lewis wed in a private ceremony in Washington, D.C., less than three months after announcing their engagement on Instagram.

On Sunday, Booker posted that they were "overflowing with gratitude," writing: "We said ‘I do’ in two places that shaped us—Cory’s beloved Newark and Alexis’s hometown of Washington, D.C.—first at the courthouse, then with our families. Hearts full and so grateful."

The couple married in an interfaith ceremony — Booker is Christian, and Lewis is Jewish — at an undisclosed venue, The New York Times reported. The couple had legally wed Monday at the federal courthouse in Newark with only their parents present.

The couple told the Times they met through a mutual friend known for matchmaking in May 2024. Their blind date in Washington lasted more than five hours. When Booker asked for a second date the next night, Lewis said she had to catch a flight for a work trip to Newark. Booker persuaded her to delay her flight so they could meet again in Newark, where he was also headed.

Booker later described that second date as "even more magical," saying they ate at a tapas restaurant before he showed her places in the city that shaped his life. The night ended with their first kiss outside the Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart.

Lewis is a director of investments at Brasa Capital Management, a Los Angeles-based real estate investment firm, and previously worked for former Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti. She holds a bachelor’s degree from NYU and an MBA from Cornell.

"My girlfriends and I say, 'Change your flight, change your life,' because it’s exactly what happened," Lewis told the outlet. "After so many years on my own, I’m not entirely sure I believed I would get married. But now, we’ve found each other at this stage of our lives, after epic personal journeys. And that deserves celebration."
